the easiest way to do it is to press winows key on your keyboard + R... then type services.msc from there on, go to update services. look at the drop down menu and disable it.

I prefer just keep it enable because nowadays so many "RansomWare" lurking around.
Windows Update keep that away from happening. |

Since Windows 10 i had never have the need to disable it, in fact it is better to keep it enabled. But if really want to then just put it on tethering, it will not update but so won't your other apps

QUOTE(13af @ Jan 19 2018, 10:38 PM) but does anyone have a way to permanent way to disable the windows update? Stopping "Windows Update" service is no longer working in Windows 10 since last year.my laptop is 6 years old ady and quite laggy everytime i go to the windows update to disable it, the next time i boot up it auto change to manual(trigger) and continue to run The only way is to "Metered" Ethernet Connection which there is no direct way of doing it. Follow the suggested instruction here to "Metered" all data connections. https://ff55coding.blogspot.com/2017/10/met...n-ethernet.html In future, if you choose to update windows then you have to Un-"Metered" the data connection. "Metered" again after Windows Update is successfully done. |

If you are using Windows 10 Pro,u can manipulate the settings through Group Policy section.....if you are using Home edition, then no choice bur rather set the metered connection.
I'm using WD 160GB mechanical HDD anyway |

QUOTE(Doraku @ Mar 13 2018, 01:51 PM) That's the main drawback of SSD, storage size. Some laptop have 2.5" and m.2 sata port, so can have SSD on m.2 sata and normal HDD on 2.5" Or if older laptop that have 2.5" and CD/DVD drive, can SSD on 2.5" and normal HDD with adapter in CD/DVD drive. |

add 100usd and switch to Pro(or 🙂) then choose non-standard update branch. You can defer upgrade for up to one month
