Ladies and gentleman,

I am a new owner of the new Proton Saga. I would like to get reviews from all of you on how your new Saga is performing.

In my case the fuel consumption is very high and would like to seek advice from you all.

RM73 = 32 Liter = +/- 344KM
RM50 = 22 Liter = +/- 265KM
RM35 = 15 Liter = +/- 150KM

In all 3 occasions I used shell RON 95.

My drives are 50% city 50% highway.

Millage right now is 800KM +/-. Proceeded with 1st service already.

Please do provide your inputs on this matter.

1 liter to run 10km..Normal for new car. Especially saga. Even highway aso running 12 km/l

Drive steady same bro, pickup lagi makan la. With new CVT engine need to tekan the minyak abit, if not car wont move.

i just ask my colleague got this new saga n previous civic.She say civic fc is better than this new saga .I heard she say like tat i also terkejut

this mean saga pick up no goodie , just in case you need vrooom vrooom you cant if pick up sure makan minyik cant run away unless you buy 4x4 lol

trying caltex now. i read that it has techron that can clean the sensors. not sure how true though. now trying only!

proton promise a 5.7L for every 100km. felt like it is pure bullshyt. dunno am i doing anything wrong!

yeah even i was sad with my car! when i was driving the test drive car, all was good. test drive 3 times summor!

u got no choice gonna accept it if u go modify this and tat to make it save fuel scare gonna damage certain things in engine . Or else trade in to other cars .

not gonna trade in. created this post to see others have same issues or not. one of my friend said my millage is too low and the car needs to be driven more often.

lol. that must be track record. maintain speed, no slow down, maintain rpm sure can get. but in normal situation should be double

what do u mean by "in normal situation should be double".

they stated the fc was done in controlled condition with optimize setting, max 90kmh speed bla bla bla. sure can get like that one. if real life sure can not.

test drive car, how the heck would you know what fc its getting... you dont pump the fuel anyway....

all manufacturers spit out claims like this... its possible if everything runs at optimum conditions, which in the real world? isnt likely

my 16 year old kancil is doing 400km +/- 10km for RM65 petrol bro! driving at highway and city jam! dunnot whether i should compare saga to kancil la!

i mean when test drive, the car was smooth as silk.. no engine build up to push the car! TOTALLY different from my car!

u cannot compare big car with small car, getting 250++km is normal in city . my persona can go 500km++ on highway but more mileage if pump 97.

noted. will see the FC this week when i go back hometown!

wah your kancil more save than my axia .My axia rm55 can go 360km only driving jam n highway too

caltex pretty good to clean your engine. But too clean also can give problem.

but that is pushing to the limit la. below the line d for me!

My Kereta Kebal LMST can travel up to 350km full tank...carburetor..

I have new saga vvt manual. Roughly 90% city drive. To and fro from work only 10km. Thus daily around 20km. With this don't think my engine fully warm up yet.

I am getting around 10 to 12 km/litre. But this is always keeping my revs around 3k rpm(heavy foot, sometimes touch 5k just to have fun with campro kick ) . Full tank to fuel warning light gets me 330km or so. However when fuel warning light out I still have 10+ litres of fuel left. Thus can go another 100km+ actually making it 430+km for 1 completely full tank.


This month now I'm testing short shifting my gears. Every gear not exceeding 2.5k rpm. I'm running 60km/hour with gear 5. Will see how my improvements. Currently only done first service at 1000km. Now odometer at 5800 km. Next service 8k and subsequently 10k intervals.

*I am also Petron's number 1 fan.

My experience tell me u are using lousy lubricant. Try castrol magnetec 5w30 or petronas synthium 5000 0w30. It will improve your km. The synthium 800 is mineral oil synthetic blend. And 5000 is pure chemical oil. U will see huge different
