He didnt purchase it for you. Instead, he changed your location so that you could receive the gift for that region, since gifting Nier is region locked. You can't gift it to our region. You have to buy keys for that.

alright, so, you're suggesting that if my friend from EU tries to gift it to me via steam, i'll receive it but i won't be able to launch it? because before gifting the sender will be notified in the gifting page that the game can be only redeemed in certain regions etc, but he told me that neir automata does not have that warning.

yep we can't see them, only NA/EU can that's why I asked my friend to buy it for me
however, it turns out that I cannot gift games via steam to him due to steam gifts are region locked too, which means that I can only gift games to nations within SEA only. hence in no other choice my exchange with him has aborted.
Which means that, all my plans have failed, while refusing to use PayPal as that service has eaten a lot of my $$ when I used it once.
