tried speedtest on wired got 50Mbps (upgraded from 30Mbps).. wireless only 30Mbps.. why.. asus rt-n12hp.. not suport meh

What's the link speed for the wifi connection on the device? Check this first and ensure no bottleneck. Can tweak and play around with new channels and 40mhz band to optimize around it.

If can get at least like 72mbps link speed, u should be getting decent speed for wifi.

just wanna share my experience...

my desktop pc internet is connected via repeater / range extender on 2nd floor...speedtest is showing 30+Mbps download speed for my 30Mbps package...is that not the true speed ?
*
I think it is repeater get half of link speed, not actual speed as actual is derived by other variables too.

Eg:
Scenario1
Unifi 30mbps on Linkspeed 150mbps Wifi N 40mhz
Via Wifi N in distanced range get 30mbps
If use repeater, linkspeed dropped to 75mbps but still higher than capable so it is not bottlenecked. Can get wifi speed around 20-25mbps.

Scenario2
Unifi 100mbps on Linkspeed 150mbps Wifi N 40mhz
Via Wifi N in distanced range get 30mbps
If use repeater, linkspeed dropped to 75mbps but may be able to improve earlier result to 40-45mbps since linkspeed is 75.

Correct me if I'm wrong or optimize the value above if not realistic. This is subjective to wifi signaling, wifi performance of router, receiver device capability.

Guys,

Anyone who got upgrade from 30 Mbps to 50 Mbps find a lot of difference in terms of speed and performance?
*
Hardly noticed to be honest. I don't really check what download speed I'm loading YouTube or do torrenting. 30mbps download was already fast to me.

Kannn. Prepare coffee, crack knuckles before begin typing it but most importantly, visualized what to type. Then proof read few times to avoid typo and etc before submit

I'm quite a writer sometimes.. sweat.gif

We need more people to complain to make our voice heard.

Haha. At times, a strongly worded letter works but not in Malaysia bahahaha. At least there's more gist and substance to the write up.

Make Unifi great again!

You need a wireless bridge for that. You can try TP-LINK, they are more affordable than Asus, they are pretty good as well.
*
Can suggest any specific model of tp-link for this? I'm reading and searching one too now.

Does a rebroadcasted wifi network will have the same speed as the origin one?

Eg. Router 1 is 300Mbps Wifi N, Router 2 is 300Mbps Wifi N.

Does user connected to the Router 2 will get same MAX speed as the user connected to the Router 1.
*
A the rebroadcasted network will be capped at half of the previous max linkspeed. If previously it was wireless N at 150mbps linkspeed, now it is 75mbps theoretical maximum. Of course this is still sufficient for 30mb or 50mbps unifi but when there's more client connected, overall quality will suffer further. This linkspeed will degrade and improve beyond your control depending on your neighbors activity too if you're relying on wifi N.

I would suggest going for powerline with WiFi. Obtained one myself and pretty happy with the outcome. I created a new 5ghz SSID and forced all capable clients to use 5ghz to reduce interference. Every unit in livingroom now can get 48mbps on Wifi AC now. Previously they only can get like 10-20mbps out of full 50mbps due to weak signal from main router positioned at top floor at back of house.

finally got upgraded too, area 55300 ~

but i just cant get 50Mpbs just around 45-47 with LAN connectivity & WIFI only 35Mpbs, time for a new router perhaps hmm.gif
*
You're on landed? I got mine a while ago. P.perdana area. But now my line has been down for 2 days lol

For the LAN, that's probably the max even with new router. At times maybe your speed test can show 48-48. But for wifi, try to improve your home wifi design by analyzing first how to improve link speeds around the house before jumping straight onto a new wifi router without analyzing actual needs in the first place.

This is because sometimes, newly purchased router actually performs just slightly better than stock which doesn't justify then new purchase. If you opt for things like powerline then use wifi ap, then maybe you'll actually be improving the network quality on average as linkspeed can be improved.
