I received the 30Mbps->50Mbps upgraded SMS yesterday and checked my speed. Upload was 19Mbps but download was 27Mbps. Turned off and on all my devices but still getting the same results.
I called TM customer service and they reset the port but still same results. Also was told a few other callers have the same problem. So lodge report and technicians will have to check the physical ports and such.
Today the tech guys came to my house and checked the download speed direct with LAN cable was 47Mbps+, but wifi was under 28Mbps. They tried to change some of the router settings but no difference. So they concluded my original supplied router, DLINK DIR-615 can't handle the 50Mbps speed and told me I should replace it. One option was to pay them Rm53 for service charge, get a free router with 1 year warranty but my Unifi contract must be renewed for another 2 years. I told them I'll buy my own router.
After they left, I checked my router settings and noticed that the wireless mode setting was set for only '802.11 g/b'. I changed that to '802.11 n/g/b' and the speed test now showed my download was at least 47Mbps. Problem solved.
All these while my router was only connecting with Wireless g/b, which is limited up to 54Mbps speeds. Wireless n allows for 300Mbps so that now the router can handle the upgraded speed.
I did mention to the tech guys when they told me the router is too old, that it has wireless n so should be able to handle the speed upgrade, but they seemed clueless. So for those having less than 40Mbps after your account upgrade, check that your router is set to connect with wireless n or better, and that your PC, laptops, devices have wireless n capability too.
Hope this helps.
