Hi everyone, I am moving to SG next month, would like to understand from all of you, which Telco in Malaysia provides the best prepaid plans as I would like to retain my Malaysia number? Better if its cost effective and the frequency to reload the card is minimal.
Thank you in advance and happy holidays!

For the benefits for those who are looking to transfer money overseas using CIMB. There are three services to choose from in CIMB Clicks such as MoneyGram, SpeedSend and Foreign telegraphic transfer. I personally used SpeedSend as the transaction fees only cost RM10 and it has reasonable exchange rates. Hope this helps. Thanks!

What's the all rounder bank that is the easiest to setup, has reasonable amount of atm across SG and no high minimum dollars required to pay the bank charges. Im an EP holder if thats an important info to know.

When you mentioned online account opening, does this mean it is mandatory for me to only setup the account through their online platform to enjoy all these privilleges or I can visit any of their bank branches to do so as well? I prefer setting up with their consultant as this will be my first experience and account in SG. This post has been edited by [LinkZ]: Jan 2 2019, 09:58 AM

Hi all,
Which bank in SG is the best for savings? Also, which bank provides the lowest rate for remittance from SG to MY? I tried DBS with free transfer fee the other day but the exchange change they provided was ridiculously low...
Hoping for all sifu advise please.
Thanks!

hi all,
i am planning to go back to Singapore next month. i'm currently an EP and my wife DP and is currently applying for the pre-approved MOM route via fragomen.
From what I read from MOM website, it seems that SG government will charge SGD2000 per pax for the hotel quarantine facility hence SGD4000 for the both of us. So the question is, can my wife stay together with me in one room and shave the additional SGD2000 off?
Thanks all!

QUOTE(fusionxoxo @ Feb 1 2021, 03:20 PM) u get the IPA will suffice for u to come in SG to complete the whole EP application and approval, you may need to go through the medical check up etc (only recognize medical check up in SG, u dont do it in MY) well thats what i remember ..... time flies... Well, if you got AID HIV TB etc, dont dream of waste time to coming into SG. I once rent out a room to IPA EP holder, next day i know that he ask for deposit refund .... medical check up got HIV ,  only 24 yrs old , from penang ..... i still got the medical report photo from him .... upon pity for him i refund his deposit fully .....  Dont think u need these medical checks for EP... speaking from personal experience Nevertheless @kopicino, EP is not evaluated and given by ur employer but MOM... u need min sgd4.5k salary, who u work for and ur credentials for them to factor in ur approval ratings... QUOTE(KilJim @ Jan 31 2021, 09:55 AM) You can do a shared room for SGD 1300 per person I believe you can only request this when checking into the hotel, subject to availability You can join the Facebook Group "Singapore Hotel Quarantine Information & Experience" to find out more, lost of information there I'm currently serving my 14 day SHN after returning from Malaysia on Friday. Feel free to ask any other questions Bro, will there be an instance where upon our arrival to check in hotel, they will say that there is no availability of shared room, whats our next step then? I dont want to spend the additional sgd 2k for ntg haha...

QUOTE(crazy25kid @ Feb 1 2021, 04:58 PM) i thought dp is applied by your company need to apply via immigration agencies? higher paid EP holders can "waive" for medical last time. since u can bring in wife on DP, means ur basic is >6k so probably higher end of EP Not sure how they waive it but we didnt have to do any medical test. I remember seeing somewhere on MOM website that EP holder dont have to do testing if my memory serves me correctly. My application was all done by Fragomen.

QUOTE(KilJim @ Feb 1 2021, 09:42 PM) Like hwachong said, logically there shouldn't be a scenario where there's no availability (though if you're unlucky you may get a small room which is tight for 2) But then again these requests are always subject to approval, etc I would say be prepared to spend 4k, if you get a shared room and save 1.4k consider that as a bonus Btw the 4k doesn't include the 2 PCR test you need to take. It's about $140 each i believe Upon arrival test sgd160 and another swab test to exit shn is priced at sgd200. Crapppp... Thanks kiljim and hwachong!

I need that report and attach it together with my flight ticket, MTI and MOM approval letter.

From facebook group.. swissotel looks like hitting the jackpot... i just paid sgd5.5k (excluding flights to singapore and swab test in malaysia) for me and my fiancee. Fragomen will be processing everything for us... the cost of all these process is steep, no wonder alot of people decided not to go back and stuff... i consider myself lucky that ive been staying in malaysia and work remotely for the past 1 year. Good luck everyone and thank u to those bros who responded to my questions.

QUOTE(deodorant @ Feb 3 2021, 09:49 AM) LinkZ you may need to prepay $4k first, but once you arrive in SG together and reach SHN hotel, explain to the check in staff to share room, then can apply to MOM/ICA/whoever to refund the excess $1400. Note that if you really suay you might get assigned value hotel or ibis styles or some other cui 15sqm room, if so you’ll have to balance that $1400 vs your sanity lol. I get the chills reading of getting ibis and valued hotel... but i heard those hotels are only assigned to those who travel via land (PCA). Someone is asking this in the facebook group as well.

Ive been away from SG since March last year and is going back to SG by end of Feb this year, MOM has just approved my application.
Question with IRAS, since Ive not stayed in SG for at least 183 days, can I still apply the permanent tax residence rate given the Covid-19 situation that impacts our travel? Anyone have experience dealing with this or I have no choice but to pay the 15% flat tax rate? If salary matters, my salary bracket is at the 6 figure bracket, but not over S$200k this year.
Thanks all!

QUOTE(fusionxoxo @ Feb 11 2021, 11:27 AM) last 2 to 3 pages, i did raise up this question on the Tax issue and discussion with some people here, you can refer to that.... but seems like everyone have different opinion, best that your HR/Finance can advise on this .... 200k 15% tax a lot eh.... Yes, i forgotten 200k for permanent tax resident is at which bracket, if im not mistaken its 17.5% and its higher than 15% so shouldnt be an issue. Need to check at IRAS website when free later..

I have just submitted for mytravelpass (MTP) application earlier this evening and i have flight coming up early march. I heard that they normally take 5-10 working days to approve the applications and if they really do take 10 days then it may impact my flight schedule. Does anyone here know if there is a way or contact number for us to expedite the approval?
