Hey there. I'm a Comp. Sci. fresh grad, looking for a job in the data field. I'm mainly looking for a role as a Junior Data Scientist, but I'm open to other roles such as Data Analyst, Data Engineer, Machine Learning Engineer, DevOps/MLOps Engineer etc.

Is there a chance for me to get an entry level job? I tried applying a few months ago as an intern for my industrial training, nearly got an offer by a MNC company, but immediately got dropped after HR came into the loop of the email stating that they are not looking to pick up someone overseas due to the Covid situation. Others mostly didn't even get back to me.

Given the current Covid situation and the tightening of work pass regulations in late 2020, plus my work inexperience; is there a real possibility for me to get a job in SG? Now that I've had internship experience, is there a little more hope? If so, how should I go about applying to give me an edge?

Any kind of advise would be highly appreciated. Thanks.

That is incredibly unfortunate. How long will your PR application be approved? Are PR applications currently more rigorous during the pandemic? Hope it gets approved. A bummer that you'd have to apply for PR to get the job.

I was not aware about the financial assistance grant that favours locals. This would make sense as to why job ads were explicitly asking for Singaporean or PRs. I'll keep that in mind. Thanks.

The HR told me that I don't have to tender and cancel current company EP until MOM approve the new EP. We can wait until they get the new EP approved only then I tender resignation thereafter which is safe however they told me that it would probably take around 6 - 8 weeks time.

I spoke to some friends that holds EP as well and have recently changed to another company, they shared that it only took them like 1 - 2 weeks for the process to be completed.

Anyone know if its good enough to get 21% increase jumping from one company to another?

I was told this is the industry standard and they have a system to control all these new hire increment.

Btw how much is your friend making annually to get the 45%? Im talking about approximately more than sgd200-300k plus earners. If we’re in this range then 45% would be a super huge jump.

My employer refuses to sign EP152 for me. According to the FAQ on ICA website, other forms of documentary evidence is acceptable:
1. Valid S Pass/EP; AND
2. Latest 6 months' payslips; AND
3. Letter of employment dated within 2 weeks from the appointment date with ICA; OR Annex A dated within 2 weeks from the appointment date with ICA.

#3 doesn't quite make sense. Could anyone here advise?

Hi, does anyone know what is the salary range for java software developer with 2 years + of experience in banking and finance firm ?
if my current salary is 4.5k(2.5 years of experience in IT company, mainly working on java enterprise solution) is it possible to get around 6k if switch to banking and finance firm as software developer?
Is it too high if i put this as my expected salary, I'm current looking for a job change and I don't know the market rate.

well, i work 15days/month tops. pretty good work-life management i think, lots of free time do my own stuff.
great work place, free sheltered parking, subsidised food at cafeteria, salary enough to survive, etc etc.

i believed there are much better working conditions out there.

ain’t that great? Save a lot on travelling time and cost. A lot of office work in sg 9-5 is on paper only, most stay back till 7, 8 or 9pm. At least for 12hrs shift, cabut on time, MOM doesn’t allow workers to work >12hrs/day.
