[B][Budget] RM1000

[Purpose] Normal surfing, light gamer, mostly emulator games

[Hardwares that will be re-use] SSD

[Monitor resolution] 1920 x 1080

[Games & softwares that use frequently] Nox emulator

[Personal preferences] AMD with gpu, something really quiet, power efficient. Must be mini ITX or smaller. Current mobo is 17x17cm, with a small case, but it is not small enough. Or let's say I prefer even smaller if possible.

Thanks.

ITX mobos aren't cheap. RM1k isn't enough for it. Below are two suggestions for comparisons:
ITX:

CPU: RYZEN 3 2200G (4C/4T) AM4 3.5 3.7 4 452
MOBO: ASROCK FATAL1TY AB350 GAMING-ITX/AC I 430
RAM: CRUCIAL D4 PC2400 8GB 310
PSU: CORSAIR VS 450W 159
CASE: ELITE 110 ( ITX ) 179

TOTAL: RM1,530 (Czone prices)
MATX:

CPU: RYZEN 3 2200G (4C/4T) AM4 3.5 3.7 4 452
MOBO: ASROCK A320M- HDV M 189
RAM: CRUCIAL D4 PC2400 8GB 310
PSU: CORSAIR VS 450W 159
CASE: TECWARE CORE MATX 89

TOTAL: RM1,199 (Czone prices)

Hmm.. u r right.. ITX boards are not cheaps. Starts at rm4XX, unless I go for older models. Anyway, how about APU like A10-9700? Can shave some dollars off.

[Budget] as low as possible

[Purpose] light gaming, light video editing like maybe once a while, more photoshop, Illustrator, more for browsing, document prep, emails

[Hardwares that will be re-use] SSD

[Monitor resolution] use existing

[Games & softwares that use frequently] I guess normal office use dont take up any loads, so perhaps I will list down Star Craft and Crysis since they take more loads

[Personal preferences]AMD with APU for less noise

[Location] either PJ or buy online

I guess something like Ryzen 5 will be enough. Don't want to add a GPU cos not using for PUBG or those high requirement games. Whole house all intel, would like to try AMD. Something light weight and smallest possible in the ATX category, cos I know if ITX that will not be "budget as low as possible". Many THANKS.

Many THANKS

Is this not enough to play Wuthering Wave? Uncle not a gamer, but my son initially says it was ok, but now claims it is not good enough in terms of gpu. All settings set to low and only get 24 FPS. Hence, unable to dodge some attacks.

I looked at the screen when he plays, it seems more like it is a difficult game and you need to have patients in order to "learn" how to pass each stages. He blames the pc.

Some expert please give more insights and advice. Now he is demanding for another pc, one that is really gamer built.

Hi guys, going back to this topic... we agree to buy a new gaming pc for my son. Thanks for sharing Wuthering Wave game spec, but of course we are not buying a new pc just so he can play this game. Can I therefore get some suggestions for a decent gaming pc spec, that is currently in the mid range budget, say around RM3000-4000, that would be still usable 2-3 years down the road, and can play other first shooter games in 2025 or near future.

I ask because some say, for example, GPU that is RTX --30, or --50 is not worth buying. Must go for --70, --80, --90. I have no clue, that is why I am asking. Something like
4090 is better than
5030 (not worth although is 5000 series, but is the budget version)

Thank you all in advance.

Thank you TristanX and Babylon. I wonder if this is a good opportunity to have him be patient. The last time ram and hdd prices went up really high that I can recall, was many years ago. Also cause I have stopped buying pc for many years. But it eventually would come back down like 4-6 months later after production catches back up with demand.

Maybe the other thing to consider is using a Oculink, since he is using minisforum UM870. Minisforum have DEG1 docking station. So I need to buy only 2 things, avoiding hdd and ram :-
- PSU
- GPU

Am I right?

That DDR4 price is still at normal level. Just hope it stays as long as it can. WD price did not get adjusted yet.

Docking station isn't cheap and it is only PCIE x4. It will bottleneck powerful graphic cards.

Alright then... limitation of existing hardware has already decided for me. No to Oculink since any investment here is most likely the first to face bottlenecks in future. Might as well take that money and put into a new and proper gaming rig. Thank you TX, once again.
