Noob here, currently having ideas of assembling a pc myself for the first time. Also, seeking to install hardware compatible with linux distro.

[B][Budget] : 2.5k - 3.5k

[Purpose] : running heavy data processing, GIS based software, large excel files with macros, online streaming and etc. High-end gaming, not likely.

[Hardwares that will be re-use] : None

[Monitor resolution] : 1080p (ideally, but not important)

[Games & softwares that use frequently] : Productivity software MS office, Libre Office, QGIS, Anaconda IDE, Data analytic softwares (For running few large softwares & heavy background processing)

[Personal preferences] : None

[Location] Kuching

Appreciate your pointers contributors, will heed your advises in my planning process smile.gif

High end gaming, not likely? Budget is not even there too.

How about these?

AMD Ryzen 5 2600X - 999
Asus B450M-K - 429
Kingston 8GB DDR4-2666 X2 - 580
Asus GT 710 1GB DDR3 - 199
Patriot Scorch 256GB M.2 PCIE SSD - 309
WD Blue or Seagate 1TB - 180
Super Flower Leadex Silver Eco 500W - 259
Tecware Nexus mATX case - 139
LG 24MK430H 24" monitor - 439

RM3533 total (C-Zone prices)

Remove the SSD or use smaller monitor if you need to cut cost.

low budget means less quality components

How can one determine quality besides brand dominance in the market? Are there several good & independent sites you use to educate us on this sir?
