QUOTE(vernon91 @ Sep 2 2019, 12:01 PM) For the sake of ddr4? Nope How much ram do you have now? If you need more ram just get another 8gb ddr3 dimm or something, ur mobo should able to support up to 32gb (8gb x 4) only 8gb Ram but never had any issues even if I open multiple pages. alright, will upgrade the ram. thanks!

QUOTE(TristanX @ Nov 28 2019, 07:15 PM) No equivalent. You pay more for less performance on Intel https://www.techpowerup.com/review/amd-ryzen-7-3700x/6.htmlKingston UV500 120GB (around RM125) is the lowest you can go. Thank You!

QUOTE(chocobo7779 @ Jul 30 2021, 01:54 AM) You have a few choices: 1. Either get a 10400F/11400F + B560 board, then find a GTX1060 (preferably the 6GB model) or a 1050Ti on the second hand market if you can 2. Go for the 5600G/5700G + B550 board (they should be available in August), then add in a GPU at a later time. Do note that going this route also allows you to upgrade to higher end Ryzen chips if the board VRMs are capable enough 3. Buy a cheap GPU (something like the GT1030 GDDR5 version at the very minimum and wait for Alder Lake CPUs to arrive, and then rebuild an entirely new machine 4. Find someone to repair your GPU, then continuing using your build until GPU prices drop, and then build an entire new machine (note that by that time Alder Lake chips should be available in the retail market) i saw meteor lake might be using different slot altogether, do you think its worth it to buy Alder lake when its out end 2021/CES 2022? or would AM5 be a better option for more years ahead? Edit : im upgrading from i5-4460 DDR3 This post has been edited by kunang: Jul 30 2021, 11:15 AM

QUOTE(chocobo7779 @ Jul 27 2021, 03:47 PM) Yeah, unless you want to wait for Alder Lake to arrive (might be better to wait though as Alder Lake is coming in the next 3 months) Alder lake this Oct-Nov only for enthusiast (K chip) . Board also will be Z-series I guess. Adding salt, ssd support for pcie 5 will only come out Q2 2022 Intel say will launch non-K for Alder lake nex year at CES (FEB 2022) Maybe next march/April would be the best time to buy Alder lake? Considering benchmarks for best board + cpu. This post has been edited by kunang: Aug 1 2021, 12:58 AM

QUOTE(chocobo7779 @ Aug 1 2021, 01:23 AM) I don't have a crystal ball, so I can't tell IMHO Alder Lake should be a substantial enough upgrade over your old build anyway (if you are willing to deal with the initial issues with the platform, particularly the big/small core layout of the chip) Couldn't agree more in the upgrade given the build was i5-4460😂

QUOTE(phoenixxx @ Aug 3 2021, 12:10 AM) Hope my PC can still last... it's been crashing more and more recently (which prompted me to restart the PC hunt...), I think almost 8 yrs / 9 yrs of usage is taking its toll possibly Oct to Nov, but only for enthusiast chip which will be expensive + issues for early small/Big cores implementations (as Chocobo mentioned) https://www.pcgamer.com/intel-alder-lake-re...formance-price/
