Budget: RM1000-RM1500
Purpose: Downloads/ Movies, light video editing (travel GoPro videos)
Reason to upgrade:
• Mainly is due to my current laptop CPU is bottlenecking, can’t get ideal top speed from my UNIFI 800Mbps, and
• Second, my laptop was bought in 2013 (ASUS K46CB, I5 3337U, GT740M), might as well upgrade to a better affordable build
Hardware to be reuse: SanDisk SDSSDHII120G
Monitor: ACER G205H (currently connected with my ASUS laptop)
Games & Software: GoPro Studio, Lightroom (occasionally), PUBG (not a gamer, but this is game I would play if the new build allows)
Personal preferences: Nvidia Graphic Card and Intel Processor (i5)
p/s: Saw this online, I not sure is it a good build or slight overpriced, can I go lower for the specs as in from the link?

Help yourself to the many price lists around:

1. What kind of case depends on some factors
a. whether you plan to do water cooling in the future
b. how much stuff you want to add in the PC (eg how many HDD, how long is your GC)
c. Do you want to display your components and lighting?

2. HDD is prefered if you want to save some items that are not often used. It is not advisable to fill up your SSD beyond 80% capacity. Dont be surprised if large files like high def media come in fast once you get addicted to speed.

1. 8400 is pretty capable. The 8500 is slightly faster but not so much difference. Both cannot overclock

2. If want to upgrade stuff, better choose at lease B360/H370. You could upgrade to intel 9 series too...

Hi, sorry, last question, i guess? 😅 would like to ask
i5 8400 vs Ryzen 5 2400G? Which to choose?

Hi. There is a small question here, i saw there is a promo selling HyperX Fury 8GB 2666MHz ram for RM249. Is it worth to buy for this pricing?

2. I have 8Gb ram already. Klevv brand 2666Mhz ram. Can i mix use with this new HyperX Fury?

3. Do i need to upgrade ram to 16GB, or 8GB is enough. Daily internet surfing, excel user, and occasionally lightroom editing, play Overwatch

1. Just slightly cheaper than the market

2. Mixing of RAM is not recommended. Get exactly the same brand, model, size, Speed and CAS Latency (CL) must be the same. Example: 8GB DDR4-2666 C16 or CL16 or 16-16-16-38

3. 2019 coming soon. 8GB minimum, 16GB recommended for PC builds these days.

Thanks!

Best CPU for high end graphic card. i5 tends to bottlenck GTX 1070 onwards. Intel CPU is overpriced due to shortage right now.
Yes, another 8GB with exactly same brand and model. 3GB VRAM may cause issues for other new games. Recommended to avoid 3GB or less graphic card.

Went back to the shop. The same brand and model has been sold out. Can i use a different brand RAM? Does it affects?

Not recommended. Different speed and timings may cause compatibility issue. Try lelong or shopee.

thanks you for the advice.
last small question, say if i wish to change to a new brand of RAM sets, do i go to value ram or performance ram?
i read a lot of articles, they mention these dont matter much, as performance ram is more fancy build than normal value ram.
can i ask for whoever saw this post opinions?
