Hi fellow seniors, I'm having a situation like such, with PC specs like below:-

Processor - Intel Core i5 4460
Cooler - Coolermaster Hyper 212+
Mobo - Some DDR3 Mobo
Ram - 4GB RAM DDR3 x 2 = 8GB
Graphics Card - Gigabyte GTX460 768MB OC Edition
PSU - Silverstone ST60F-ESB (80+ BRONZE)
Case - CoolerMaster HAF 922
SSD - Samsung 840 EVO 128GB

Is this spec is still adequate these days? As I open quite a lot Google chrome tabs, but it clashed, and my remaining storage from my SSD is only 12GB. Is it sufficient enough? Looking at DDR4, should I upgrade my mobo, just to get DDR4 8GB or should I get other 4GB DDR3 sticks to make into 12GB DDR3 instead?

was wondering can this pc capable of multiple monitor set up just for excel and chrome? looking at maybe opening 15 excels spreadsheets, and 20-30 tabs of chromes at one go, with some pdf reader, powerpoint, other browser as well?

[Budget] Within few k

[Purpose] For work that heavy reliant on a lot of Chrome tabs (AdWords & Facebook Ads), looking for a rig that could be expanded multiple screens as times goes by,

[Games & softwares that use frequently] Dota 2 at most, or any sorts of Free Online Game

[Location] Klang

looking for a rig that can be sustainable from the current spec, and yet still relevant in 2018 (if possible)

Guys i need recommendation on upgrade

The game i play i get micro freeze (usually after 20mins of gaming) first 5-10 mins always very smooth. Other optimized game like overwatch i dont get any stutter or freeze.

Very high setting or very low setting in game same thing happen. Both setting use around the same total cpu usage (50~70%), some cpu core will hit 100% sometimes.

I checked i dont have ping spike. And the micro freeze only happen in game window, audio etc all okay.

When i get freeze, gpu usage will drop to 0 and

Cpu will get a spike (either 2 or 3 core drop to bottom or some core hit 100%) OR all core normal 60~70% load rclxub.gif

I check memory i have plenty spare too. I tried SSD and HDD both same thing, reformatted to W7 and W10 more than 5 times still same. Different sata cable also same.

Use 1 stick of ram only also same. Use lan cable or wifi adapter also same.

My spec

i5-4460
MSI h81m-p33
Samsung evo 860 250gb
Kingstone ddr3 8gb 1600mhz + kingston hyperx 1833mhz
RX580 sapphire nitro+
MWE Gold 750W
ViewSonic 144hz freesync monitor
Should i upgrade proc, mobo and ram? Maybe it will fix the micro freeze problem.. As Zen2 coming soon,, i dont plan to upgrade too expensive now. Looking at Ryzen 2600 or maybe i5?

Please suggest

cpu, mobo and performance ram(for ryzen) -budget less than 2k

If possible mobo and ram with decent future proof.

Thanks
*
Hi bro, hope you don't mind to re-quote your post, since I have the same proc as you, and I'm quite clueless for the next part to upgrade or to retain with decent future proof as well.

My Specs
i5-4460
Asrock B85M-HDS
4GB DDR3 PC3-12800K (800MHz) Kingmax x 2
Samsung EVO 120GB SSD (can't recall the series)
GTX 460
Silverstone Strider 600W 80W Bronze

What should I upgrade as my work (digital marketing) deals with alot of Chrome tabs, multiple Users, and also would want to pick up in e-Sports Gaming title (Dota 2 etc) - budget is best value possible.

Cheers,

No budget? More RAM and better CPU

AMD Ryzen 7 2700X - 1399
MSI B450-A Pro - 399
Kingston 8GB DDR4-2666 X2 - 498
Intel 760p 256GB M.2 PCIE - 299
Sapphire RX 570 4GB Pulse ITX - 650 (from C-Zone)

Mostly from Viewnet. More Chrome tab means more memory you need.
*
Morning Tristan, thank you so much for this, is there any other alternatives if I were to upgrade by batches? Viewnet seems far for me as I'm from Klang, whereas C-zone have a branch in PJ, which I don't mind to go.

Appreciate for your kind response.

[B][Budget] RM3.5k / RM5k MAX

[Purpose] Casual Gaming, Performance / Power More Important

[Hardwares that will be re-use] Monitor, Speaker

[Monitor resolution] 1080p

[Games & softwares that use frequently] Call of Duty

[Personal preferences] Not into RGB, Need good ventilation for the rig, because the room has bad ventilation. Is liquid cooling required? And Intel powered.

[Location] Shah Alam

Asking on behalf my brother in law, he would need a system excluding monitor that are future proof (at least 5 - 8 years) ? Thanks gurus.

Hi fellow seniors,

torn in between these two options, but before that this is my current rig:-

i5-4460
Asrock B85M-HDS
4GB DDR3 PC3-12800K (800MHz) Kingmax x 2
Samsung EVO 120GB SSD (can't recall the series)
GTX 460
Silverstone Strider 600W 80W Bronze

and had been affected by serious BSODs, so I wasn't sure to get a complete new rig to replace this or to fix this as a secondary pc and get a new one from one of the options below:-

Option A:
AMD RYZEN 5 2600 - 600
ASROCK B450M STEEL LEGEND MOTHERBOARD - 350
T-FORCE DELTA RGB 16GB (8GBx2) DDR4 3200MHz GAMING RAM - 389
XPG SX8200 PRO M.2 PCIE 256GB SSD - 210
MSI RX580 ARMOR 8GB OC GRAPHIC CARD - 950
SILVERTSTONE ST60F-ES230 600W 80+ WHITE PSU - 169
PHANTEKS ECLIPSE P350X RGB BLACK TEMPERED GLASS CASING 309
Total 2977

Option B:
AMD RYZEN 5 3600 - 859
ASROCK B450M STEEL LEGEND MOTHERBOARD - 350
T-FORCE DELTA RGB 16GB (8GBx2) DDR4 3200MHz GAMING RAM - 389
XPG SX8200 PRO M.2 PCIE 512GB SSD - 325
MSI RX570 ARMOR 4GB OC GRAPHIC CARD - 565
FSP 550W 80+ WHITE PSU - 189
TECWARE NEXUS C TG BLACK ATX GAMING CASING - 145
Total 2810

wanted to have the PSU to be 80+ Bronze, but apparently the shop doesn't have stock at the moment, and the remaining stock above 80+ White, is 80+ Gold but that costs RM390 and they think its overkill for such specs. thus they've recommended FSP, although is White but its comes with 5 year warranty. As for GPU, it has been 6 years I've not into gaming, so I would prefer to keep it at lowest point, thus I've preferred to get cheapest discreet graphic card possible.

the dilemma I have now should i cut down expenses by opting 2nd Gen CPU & higher GPU, or should i opted for 3rd Gen CPU with lower GPU, but in return I doubled my SSD.

or is there any better pair for this, feel free to enlighten ya.

Planning to get the PC by today if possible.

Thanks all!

Buy SSD later. You can get Ryzen 5 3600 and RX580 straight.

thanks tristanx senior, how long do you think this specs can last? 6 years?

Nope. GPU definitely not. Low quality power supply as well. RM400 650W will rollover RM200 650W when it comes to reliability. Japanese capacitors inside the PSU should last.
*
alrighty, thanks. perhaps I should swap my 80+ Bronze Silverstone 600W to the new rig and put the 80+ White to the old ones,

Silverstone 600W Bronze isnt that great either.
https://www.techpowerup.com/review/silverst...t60f-esb/4.html

Look at the inside. Su'scon capacitors. Third tier. And also sleeve bearing fan. Don't expect too much from it.

Anyway, most power supply quality increases with the price. Double check before you buy.

thanks for the insights, so if I increase my budget to fit in the FSP 80+ Gold, and get both Ryzen 5 3600 as well as RX580 8GB, then its all good?

Are you watching Netflix 4k? That will need at least GTX 1650 4GB. Also, HDCP 2.2 as well.
https://nvidia.custhelp.com/app/answers/det...-on-nvidia-gpus

GTX 1050 is not worth it cause GTX 1650 price is too close.
*
nope still 1080p as of now.

I was thinking the basic as below, do let me know if otherwise,

Ryzen 3 2300X/2200G
Asrock / MSI A320M boards
8GB 3200MHz RAM
XPG SX8200 Pro M.2 PCIE 256GB
RX570 4GB / On Board Graphic
Thermaltake Litepower 550W PSU
Tecware Nexus C

looking forward to hear advise from you, senior.

seniors, i just built an amd right with asrock b450m steel legend, and looking to build a secondary built, and the recommendations was to go with asrock b450m pro 4, just wondering is this pro4 board is more superior than steel legend? if yes, i should swap the steel legend with this pro 4 board on my main rig right?

hi senior, seems this build can be trimmed lower, if one to downgrade the ram to 16gb, and minus the hdd, or downgrade the cases to save the cost, and upgrade it later right?
