[Budget] around RM4000 for desktop (already have existing monitor, keyboard, windows 10 etc, and other from previous comp.)
[Purpose] Mainly architecture, graphics and rendering; but would like to also allow gaming once in a while. Main applications: [Hardwares that will be re-use] Have old HD to use - SSD (Plextor M5S 256gb) & HDD (Seagate 3TB 3.5 SATA 7200rpm); have old (2x4gb) 8gb RAM that could potentially use (not sure what type/brand, need to check back), but might consider to upgrade to 16gb total
[Monitor resolution] Not needed
[Games & softwares that use frequently] Sketchup, AutoCAD, Rhino 3d, Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator. Steam gaming
[Personal preferences] Dont have knowledge in building PC, first time. But initial research, seems like NVIDIA graphics card is recommeneded for the software I use. In terms of CPU between Intel & AMD, I have no idea the pro/con of each, but just leaning towards Intel because im familiar with it. not sure if I7 8700 is overkill or within budget? but would preferebly like to future-proof my desktop and using it for next 10 years!
[Location] KL
Mainly looking for recommendation on the CPU, Graphics Card, Cooler & Case. Thanks!

QUOTE(chocobo7779 @ Jan 30 2020, 12:19 AM) Widescreen? Most monitors are widescreen these days Ryzen 5 2600 - RM509 MSI B450I Gaming Plus AC - RM535 (comes with wireless) Kingston 2x8GB DDR4 2666 - RM270 Adata SX8200 Pro 512GB - RM320 Fractal Design Node 304 - RM358 Galax GT710 - RM158 FSP SFX 450W - RM255 (SFX PSU is recommended for small form factor builds) Samsung S24F350FHE 24 inch monitor - RM389 Total: RM2794 You can spend a bit more on a better monitor or a better CPU if you want to Thanks! Some questions: 1. Is 8gb RAM enough for my use? Can a m-ITX fit 2 Ram sticks if i wish to upgrade later? 2. What do you suggest for the next level up for the CPU?

QUOTE(derthvadar @ Jan 30 2020, 11:25 AM) 1. Adobe Photoshop/Illustrator recommended 8GB RAM. But generally you'll be better with a minimum of 16GB RAM (2x 8GB) as suggested by chocobo7779. It is important that you ensure you have enough RAM available. 2. Maybe Ryzen 5 3600. QUOTE(chocobo7779 @ Jan 30 2020, 12:44 PM) 1. Ryzen platforms benefit greatly from dual channel memory - that's why I included 2 identical RAM sticks for this (also your usage certainly can take advantage of more RAM) 2. The 3600 is not much on an upgrade than the 2600 (at least in terms of multi-threaded performance). A proper upgrade would be the 3700X, but that will be a quite expensive upgrade (8c/16t, costs about RM1300) thanks! a friend commented that the graphics card GT710 is quite low spec. Is the graphics card not relevant for 3d modelling use?

QUOTE(myway1985 @ Jan 30 2020, 05:27 PM) dude... i suggest u wait for those branded with clearance... if u wan 3D architecture work u better use quadro or radeon pro graphic.. respect ur own profession ya... dun fall into gaming card trap n then got high blood pressure becoz of the huge error code pile up when and where do these sales take place? i did read somewhere that using Quadro graphic card wasn't that much better than gaming graphics card for architecture work. and it does cost much more right? dont think can fit that in my budget anyway. i think its perhaps better for very advanced 3d architecture work/rendering which I don't really get into. my home pc gaming graphics card seem sufficient for my work so far.

Hi friends, I'm looking for suggestions on a custom rig or even full package (can even consider refurbished) workstation for a work colleague for general office work. Appreciate some recommendations! Budget: rm500 range, below rm600 (desktop only); - already have other hardware Purpose: General office work - internet/whatsapp, Microsoft office Addtional requirements/hardware: include internet adaptor, wifi if possible I've found some package workstation deals on shopee/lazada but not sure if there's better alternative for the same price range. https://shopee.com.my/DELL-Optiplex-9020-US...4206.6025882950https://shopee.com.my/Gaming-Complete-Set-i...3244.1857066467https://shopee.com.my/HP-i3-i5-i7-Desktop-P...3008.2162431843

QUOTE(chocobo7779 @ Nov 25 2020, 04:43 PM) Any machine with a 2nd gen Core i3/i5 (i3 2xxx/i5 2xxx) should do the trick, but I'd recommend you to spurge a bit more on an additional 4GB stick + 250GB SSD for best experience thanks. meaning the shopee links i posted would be best choice for what i can get? what do you mean by additional 4gb stick? is that external ram?
