QUOTE(teddymonster @ Apr 11 2017, 06:17 PM) Hey thanks for the reply! Would upgrading the CPU to some of the latest I5/i7s solve this bottleneck issue ? My concern would be the MOBO not being compatible or already too old for the new processors. Thanks! You'd have to upgrade to the same CPU series, if you're running a i7-2xxx series, u can only upgrade to that maximum series, be it for example; i7-2770K or something. lol. You cant fit in new CPUs like i7-7700K into that mobo. The cpu does not fit. If you want you can upgrade to the Haswell series CPU, the i7-4000 series, since you're running on DDR3. Lol. It may save you on some cost like RAMs. But then.. Its better just saving a bit more and buy an i5-7000series and a decent cpu + your 1070. Haha.. Should be good enough to last.. xD This post has been edited by bobowyc: Apr 11 2017, 06:33 PM

QUOTE(teddymonster @ Apr 12 2017, 12:50 AM) Thanks for clarifying that! Learned something new as well. I'll just change the GPU to the 1070 then for now. Hmm. You can go ahead with that, but I think it will bottleneck your cpu.. If not you'd have to downgrade to 1050ti maybe.. Lol.

QUOTE(teddymonster @ Apr 12 2017, 01:11 PM) already bought and installed the 1070 haha. I looked for some other resources as well such as this vid on youtube. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Eg9h7AdN0gwprobably Like you said it will bottleneck, when on CPU heavy games. Will most likely upgrade the Mobo and processor in the future as well. Thanks alot for your advice and suggestions! Hahaha. Oh. Might as well upgrade straight away. Lol. Medium mobo is about 500+. Plus cpu could about 900. Oh and your ram. About 300. If you can reuse your psu is better. Lol. Save some cost there. Like my work pc. Haha. Spent about 800 only. Or less. Haha.. case and psu already got, so I save about 400+ there. Lol

QUOTE(teddymonster @ Apr 12 2017, 06:24 PM) What Mobo/CPU/RAM would you suggest? Planning to use back the PSU, SSD, HDD & Casing as well. If your budget is still 3-4k, u can get a better mobo and cpu. Maybe a 1.5k mobo and a 1.5k cpu. Like i7-7000series i think.. lol Then the ram can be 8GB of any kind, about another 400+. If you still have budget, u can go for 16GB ram, about 500+.. Unless u already deducted the 1070 in your 4k budget.. Lol.. Then that leaves you with about 2.5k to spend. Go with an i5 of any series and a mobo with Z170 or Z270 if u can. ahhah The ram can be any brand you want, since their price is almost similar.. Lol. Im using Corsair and G.Skill. Both diff PC, both also good. haha. And my work pc is Value Kingston ram. lol

QUOTE(teddymonster @ Apr 12 2017, 07:42 PM) i did already deducted the 1070 from the 4k budget haha! after going through the other thread of pp showing of their rigs it's getting harder and harder to stick to the budget lol. I'll probably save up abit more to have a larger budget down the road to upgrade to this --> "Maybe a 1.5k mobo and a 1.5k cpu. Like i7-7000series i think.." . Thanks alot for your help bobowyc! Really appreciate it! Hahaha. Its okay bro. Sure will deviate from original budget. Unless you're building it like me. Hahaha. Simply do also can. I just installed an ssd yesterday. Works well. Loll. So yea.
