Sorry to bother again, it's strange that two of the shops don't seem to have the above brands. One of them offer me this instead.

THERMAL TAKE LITEPOWER POWER SUPPLY (LPT-0650P) - 650Watt

Is this a good alternative or should i focus on the brand you mentioned only?

Since you are in UAE,
do consider EVGA as they provide worldwide warranty

https://www.evga.com/articles/00671/
https://eu.evga.com/support/warranty/

For PSU: EVGA G3/G2 (it's a rebranded Superflower Leadex Gold II/Gold I)
EVGA GS (based on Seasonic G Series)
EVGA GQ (FSP OEM)

For GPU:
any EVGA other than : EVGA GeForce GTX 1070 GAMING (08G-P4-5170) . this cooling design is not as favorable

EDIT:
Maybe Corsair does too. http://www.corsair.com/en-us/support/warranty

but EVGA G2/GS/GQ is definitely better than CX-M . so do check out their prices there.

Processor: Intel Core i5-8400
Motherboard: Asus Prime Z370-P
RAM: Apacer DDR4 2400MHz 8GB
Graphic Card: ZOTAC GTX 1060 MINI 6GB
SSD: Sandisk M400.M2 480GB
HDD: N/A
PSU: Any brand PSU 650W
CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212
Casing: Any
Monitor Any 27' inch Monitor

I am looking at such specs, any ideas on how to improve on it, or have better budget options?

Also would appreciate if any opinions on Casing/Monitor..

Please state your usage

Since you are not doing compact build, reference style blower cooling / 'mini' termed gpu are not as good in cooling. Also smaller card may be louder as one fan needs to work harder under load compared to 2 fans
Or else, choosing the cheapest card is also fine if due to budget constraints.
Alternative : Asus Dual OC. Zotac Amp. Palit Jetstream.

Aftermarket Cpu cooler might be unnecessary for Ur cpu unless ur usage may suggest otherwise.

If u can wait. U can avoid buying expensive z370 as mobo. B360 is expected to release in Q1 2018

Psu: affordable yet reliable choices: Seasonic M12 ii evo bronze, Superflower leadex silver (leadex gold is better if u can afford the premium), corsair cx modular

Casing: Tecware f3/edge/alpha (rm1xx to 2xx), Thermaltake versa H series (rm1xx) , Cooler Master master box lite 3/5 (18x to 2xx) the dark mirror edition looks nice & theres also RGB edition, Segoteps (rm1xx)

Monitor:
Gaming: Acer KG271 75hz, Fhd TN panel, 1ms and built in speaker 899
Acer ED273A. Curved FHD 144Hz, 4ms VA panel1099
BenQ rl2755. 1ms 75hz. Fhd TN panel 1199

IPS (better color production, more preferable for professional usage)
Acer R271. 899
Aoc i2781. 1.1k
Dell s2718h. With audio. 1.3k

Else, budget: acer aoc benq rm7xx
Acer AOC BenQ and Dell have on-site warranty smile.gif

Usage: Gaming (Witcher 3) etc

On the Graphic card, maybe I will just get GTX 1060 6GB that have more fans and better cooling, and get rid of the CPU cooler, since i5-8400 also have inbuilt cooler. Thx for your suggestion.

For MOBO, will probably wait awhile, since i5-8400 out of stock everywhere now also. Do you know roughly how much B360 will be priced? Z370 is about RM 700 now.

PSU/Casing: will take a look at your suggestions. Thx!

Monitor: Probably will have to compare in person before buying, and the Acer models seem the cheapest, any difference between the kg271 and r271? I tried reading reviews from both but hard to differentiate.
*
GPU up to yourself la. because it seems to have maybe rm100 difference. try look for models with semi-passive cooling so it wont spin all the time. remain idle when load is low. improve fan lifetime & noise. you can also adjust the max temp & fan curve bla bla bla

R271 is a normal 60Hz monitor. 4ms response time. IPS tho
KG271 is a TN panel monitor with 75Hz refresh rate. 1ms
what gaming matters: refresh rate & response time. TN panel is usually better in this regard at the same pricing.

judging from Z270 vs B/H mobos . B360 prolly around >3xx~4xx whereas the most basic H370 could be 2xx

if you want to keep your CPU really cool & you have extra budget, it's ok to get aftermarket cooler. Else stock cooler will suffice.

Hello everyone! I'm looking to do some minor upgrades due to my PC suddenly slowing down a lot. This is despite doing everything in the checklist (Ccleaner, chdsk, minimizing startup programs etc). But I'll be on a tight budget. If possible I'd like to just replace my processor (i3-3220 @ 3.3 ghz) and get an SSD.

Budget: RM1000-1200

Purpose: Gaming, mainly Granblue fantasy on browser, Final Fantasy XIV and android games on Nox emulator.

Hardwares that will be re-used: Hoping to retain my mobo (MSI B75MA-P45), 16 GB DDR3 RAM and GPU (560 TI) at least. I know they're ancient, but my hands are kind of tied at the moment.

Location: Klang Valley

Thank you in advance. biggrin.gif

the usual culprit in ancient builds is the hard disk. see how it goes with a ssd first.
unless your cpu was overheated, else it shouldn't be the main issue for ur usage. i3-3220 is just slightly worse than last year's budget king : Pentium G4560.

install windows and frequently use softwares that u want slower load time (maybe your FF & emulator & browser)
u can easily scout a 240gb ssd below 200 nowadays. you can look at shopee/lazada (preferred seller/mall) as i noticed most of the PC shops still sell them above 200.
kingston a400, sandisk ssd plus, galax/pny and so on

if you want to play latest games, you can look for 1050/1050ti . most versions do not have 6-pin power connector in case your PSU doesn't have it.

Hi,

Thanks for the reply.

Just want your thoughts on this:

Intel - Core i5-8400 2.8GHz 6-Core Processor -
MSI - Z370 GAMING PLUS ATX LGA1151 Motherboard -
GALAX GTX1060 3GB | 6GB OC -
CORSAIR D4 PC2400 VENGEANCE LPX 8GB -
Segotep GP 500W -
Western Digital - Blue 250GB M.2-2280 Solid State Drive -
SEAGATE BARRACUDA DESKTOP -
TECWARE EGDE TG ATX BLACK -

Prices should be similar to the one you recommended but are there any significant performance difference?

As for monitors, I am assuming the 144hz is a TN model? Which one would you recommend for the budget ? I read that TN monitors are better for gaming due to faster response speed.
Thanks notworthy.gif

For GPU, go for 6GB. As for mobo, B/H series will be sufficient unless you intend to upgrade to high speed rams & unlocked processor in the future. There will not be much performance difference other than that.

That is correct, TN monitors are usually preferred by FPS players due to fast response. There are 144hz IPS panels too but those cost a bomb. The one I recommended earlier is a budget one. It will be nice to play PUBG / OW on a 144hz monitor. smile.gif

try not to cut cost on your PSU
consider something better like: corsair CX/TX, super flower leadex silver/gold

Thanks for the words. I have been shopping around these few days and all of the pc guy told me i3-8100 is good enough for what I am going to do with my pc already.

Can u suggest me a mobo that is good enough for i3-8100?

I am planning to connect two screens, one with hdmi port and one with vga port, to the mobo, is that possible?

Edit: I want the mobo to be able to support m.2 ssd if that’s possible.
*
i3-8100 supports up to 3 monitor, but it depends on the motherboard that supports what port. adapters can easily be found tho
D-Sub = VGA btw, in this context.
the suggested ASUS B360M-K has DVI-D & D-Sub support, 1x M.2, 2x ram. you need HDMI adapter then

Other choice
cheapest possible (H310M):
ASUS PRIME H310M-D @295 (D-Sub/HDMI - 2x), 1x M.2, 2x ram
GIGABYTE H310M-S2P @289 *from Viewnet/Idealtech* (D-Sub/HDMI/DVI-D - 3x), 1x M.2, 2x ram

B360m & 3 monitors:
GIGABYTE B360M-HD3 @339 (DVI-D/D-Sub/HDMI - 3x), 1x M.2 slot, 2x ram
Asrock B360M-HDV @299 *from Viewnet* (D-Sub/HDMI/DVI-D 3x), 1x M.2, 2x Ram

if you want more upgrade possibilities:
GIGABYTE B360M AORUS GAMING 3 @359 (DVI-D/HDMI - 2x), 2x M.2, 4x ram, RGB

Prices are from C-zone, otherwise stated
B360>H310

extra budget can buy external hard disk for backup/better PSU for longevity/nicer case, up to your preference:
Corsair CX650M @ 329
Corsair TX650M @ 379 - C-zone
