Hey sifus sifus sekalian, noticed that there are a lot of recommendations around this budget range but would like to get more clarification from you guys.

Am looking to build the a new rig (the one currently is dying sad.gif ) with the info stated above being in mind. I have been looking and browsing around and am thinking of going with either the i5 8400/Ryzen 2600 for CPU and GTX 1060 6GB/RX 270/RX 280 for the GPU. Any opinions on these choices? What will be your recommendations?

Also, I noticed that a lot of prices quoted here are from C-Zone. I've heard about them, but what distinct them from other shops in Low Yat aka AllIT, Jayaone, Viewnet etc etc?

Thanks!

Hey TristanX and zerohunter, thanks for the suggestion. I think those recommendations are really good but I do have something bugging me and wonder if any of y'all have opinions on.

So despite the GTX 1060 6GB and the RX 580 8gb which I think are my options, I do have a friend that is selling me his used GTX980ti (not a mining card, i know since he's my close friend) for a very low price. I did do my research and learned that the 980ti will outperform the 1060 and the 580 but since the card has been used for around a year and kept aside for another couple of years, will it be smart to buy the used card or get a new one instead. Price wise, the used card will be much cheaper than the new cards. Hoping to make the new rig to last around 5 years or so.

Also if i were to buy the used card, I think I have to set up the rig myself since I'm not sure if the shops in Low Yat will set up for me if I dont buy everything there (or give them the GPU to b set up together). But I think setting up the rig myself will give me better flexibility when it comes to choices and price, dont ya agree? Also, I've not build a PC once so i'm a total noobie.

The problem you'll face with the used 980Ti is the warranty. Anything happens to the card, you're pretty much screwed. If you're okay with secondhand cards, a used GTX 1070 is around RM1,000-RM1,100 these days which performs similar if not slightly better with lesser power usage compared to the 980Ti.

Recommended to get better quality power supply for ultimate cards too. This increases the cost. What is the price of that GTX 980 Ti anyway? You can find GTX 1070 at around RM950-1.2k at garage sales that laughs at GTX 980 Ti.

You can always ask the shop about the graphic card. I think they'll be happy already if you buy CPU, mobo, RAM, disks, power supply and casing at one go.

Thanks for the opinions. I'm kinda torn in between the 980ti or a new card cause he's selling me the 980ti at RM 500. Also notice on the power consumption which is higher than the 1060 or 580 counterpart.

980Ti is inbetween GTX 1070 and GTX 1060 6GB performance. More towards closer to GTX 1070. Just crazy power consumption. You will need 600W or better for it. Corsair TX650M is unbeatable if the price is still RM355-379 at lelong.

Its worth it.

RM500 for 980Ti is a pretty good offer though. Again like what Tristan said, you’ll need a good PSU for that card. Also, no one knows if the 980Ti is gonna last you for the next 5 years so pretty much your choice if you want to take the risk. 🤣

Yeah true. Alright then. Thanks for the input guys. Truly truly appreciated. smile.gif

Hey guys, not so sure about PSU so I thought I ask. Wondering if this PSU can be used for this build:

Ryzen 5 2600
MSI B450 A Pro
RX 580 8GB
8 GB Ram
240 GB SSD
2TB HDD

I've used this PSU for a little more than 5 years now. Would it be wise to reuse the PSU or just get a new one?

Cheers!

Hey guys, back again with a few questions. Since I'm not so sure on the pricing of PC components so I thought I'll come here to consult fellow sifus. smile.gif

Was doing some price research on the RX580 8gb recently and noticed that most shops are selling the RX 580 8GB at around RM 1.5k. Then I saw the ones that are suggested by zerohunter from Dotatech (MSI Armor OC) and also found one from Idealtech in Lazada (Power Color Red Dragon) where each are selling for around 900-1k. Then I went around shops like All IT and they're selling for around 1.5k. Why such a price drop? Could it be a card that has been opened before or anything fishy going on behind?

Also went to C-Zone today and was told that the RX 580 (both 4gb and 8gb) were out of stock and will not be restocked due to the stop in production and also the incoming of the new AMD cards. Since I rarely shop for PC components to know the trend, think they will ever restock the RX580 8GB?

Should I wait for the announcement and release of the new AMD cards so I can wait for a price drop in the existing RX580 (or even get the new cards tongue.gif ) or should I just get the RX580 from dotatech or a GTX1060 6gb?

Hi sifus, want to get some rig recommendation for my gf.

[B][Budget] 2.5k - 3k

[Purpose] Your usual day-to-day internet surfing, light gaming (no AAA games), some data works and maybe some light video editing.

[Hardwares that will be re-use] Monitor, keyboard, mouse, headphones..

[Monitor resolution] 1920 x 1080

[Games & softwares that use frequently] Terraria, Stardew Valley, Sims, CSGO, some MMO, Canvas, Excel, Tableau.

[Personal preferences] GF wanted the rig to be either in pink or white. Preferably NVME to store windows and important programs and a separate HDD for games (doesn't care if games takes longer time to load). Either Intel/AMD fine. Stocks cooling should suffice (?).

[Location] KL

I know the budget is on the lower side given how prices of parts have already increased vs few years back, but seeing if it's still possible to get something up. Few questions:

1) With the usage/games/softwares that will be used here, can the rig handle them without dedicated GPU (say running 60-100 fps on medium-high settings, no ultra etc)?

2) Would I be better off hunting the parts and build it myself or getting those pre-build PC from those online sites?

Thank youu

Thematic build are quite hard to do on a limited budget. No guarantees on pricing but a budget white build can try;

CPU i5-12400 (min) / 13500 (if budget can fit)
Mobo Asrock B760M Pro RS DDR4 - silver/whitish theme on black PCB
RAM Corsair VENGEANCE LPX 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4 (White)
PSU MSI A650BN / FSP HVPRO 650W
Case Tecware Nexus M2/Forge / Montech Air 100 (White) - either both will hide the black PSU
White sleeve extension cables preferably from known OEM brands ie Tecware, Asiahorse
GPU This is optional if light MMO games, can run off the igpu. Also White theme GPU are not easily available. There is Colorful igame 3050

Or something much more powerful but double the price

Hey thanks for the recommendation. I should maybe specify it clearer haha.. just the case being pink or white is good enough. biggrin.gif

I forgot to add in SSD - KC3000 see which size still fits ur budget.
Also forgot to add in cooler but thats optional, can use back Intel box stock cooler but also can use SE224XT/XTS (white) if got budget

If only case needs to be specific colour then it makes things easier but still the spec I reco boleh pakai just that you can opt for standard black parts if white got no stock, can delete the sleeve extensions too.

If you can do a full white build, actually it looks so much nicer really.  rclxms.gif

Regarding the KC3000, it is using PCIe 4.0 right. Does that mean if I want to put it into a A520M-A Pro mobo (AMD set up), it wouldn't run? rclxub.gif

Its a decent system for the money if your getting someone to build & setup for you. If your doing it yourself, might run into Ryzen quirks. YMMV

Is this something that the newer Ryzen parts have? I built a Ryzen set up like 5-6 years back and it was quite smooth.. not sure if I'm just lucky though haha
