Hello and good day to all the sifus here,

I'm looking to buy a new pc due to my laptop broken.
This will be my 1st time buying a pc so if there's any sifus who can give some advice on what rig/parts to buy then I'll be very grateful.

[Budget]
- RM 8,800.00

[Purpose]
- Gaming in Max Setting, Working, and Internet browsing/download movies.

[Hardwares that will be re-use]
- None. First one.

[Monitor resolution]
- HP 23es (1920x1080) Old Monitor (used together with my PS4 which I've sold), probably will buy a new better one when I save some money in the future.

[Games & softwares that use frequently]
- AAA Games, AutoCAD, Microsoft Office, Google Chrome

[Personal preferences]
- Have been using Intel and Nvidia card since I had my 1st laptop.

[Location]
- Sabah. Currently looking at IdealTech website for the eye-catching services they give.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

With my zero knowledge in rig building and after trying their (IdealTech) PC Builder, I kinda got/make these:

Processor - Intel Core I7 9700
Cooler - Aorus AT800
Motherboard - Gigabyte Z390 Aorus Master
Ram - Gskill Tridentz RGB 2x8GB DDR4 3200mhz
Graphic Card - Gigabyte Aorus Geforce RTX 2060 Super 8GB
Power Supply -Aorus AP850GM
Case - Aorus C300
SSD - Samsung 860 EVO
HDD - WD 1TB Caviar Black

Total - RM 8,432.00

I'm pretty much just take whatever with Aorus in it and then put it together. sweat.gif

Please be kind and thanks very much in advance. notworthy.gif

U aorus fan?

Hello, I'm not exactly a fan of Aorus or anything. Haha.

Just that this is my first time trying to buy a pc and I'm have zero experience in building rig. confused.gif

I read somewhere that building a rig are hard and complex. Some parts are incompatible with one another or something like that.

So to give myself some easy time, I saw parts with same name and thought they would be compatible with together then just put them together... Probably a stupid and amateurish move. biggrin.gif doh.gif sweat.gif

Full Aorus is automatic overpriced. Going Intel.... pay more for less.

Hello, thanks very much for the very informative recommendation.

I should probably clarify that I've never build a rig before so I most probably looking for a retailer who can help assemble and install a rig for me.

Tho I probably wouldn't mind try to build one myself after I did more intensive research about how to build a rig and all of the suggested parts after this.
So that I won't at least damage the parts when trying to build them myself. sweat.gif

So, if you don't mind, can help me one more time and give suggestion without those Aorus/Intel preferences with the best build for my budget? sweat.gif

With good fan cooling and casing rig at least, cause I don't think I have the courage to try and build a water cooling rig myself... unsure.gif

Hoping for this rig to be able to last as long as possible with upgrade-able option in the future.

Details are the same as below. Thanks again and sorry for the trouble. notworthy.gif

Try these.

AMD Ryzen 9 3900X (12 core 24 threads) - 2149
Scythe Mugen 5 Rev.B - 199 (add RM40 for RGB)
Gigabyte X570 Aorus Pro WIFI - 1165
Adata XPG D60G 16GB DDR4-3600 kit - 399
Zotac RTX 2080 Super Triple Fan - 3283
Adata XPG SX8200 Pro 512GB - 399
Corsair RX750x - 559
Fractal Design Meshify C case - 439

RM8592 total

Dotatech has office in Sarawak I think. Maybe try them. Bundle everything should be cheaper.

Hello and good morning Sifu, sorry to bother,

Will using Corsair RM750i instead of the Corsair RM750x have a compatibility problem?

Since, I for the life of me just couldn't find any seller selling Corsair RM750x locally. (There's one seller who sell in shopee with RM559, but the seller just looks very dubious with 1000 in stock unsure.gif )

So I try the Corsair RM750i instead, cause when I research in the internet, the only differences is the Corsair Link or something, others are exactly the same.

Then when I try to use the PCPartPicker, but there're no Corsair RM750i that I can select except for the Corsair RM650i.

So thinking between RM750i and RM650i wouldn't have much difference except for the wattage, but it gave me some compatibility issue? As shown below.

So, if Sifu can please help enlighten me this. notworthy.gif

Thanks in advance.

So...

Between Gigabyte G750H, Super Flower Leadex III 750W, or Seasonic Focus Plus 750W? confused.gif

Which one is better?? Sorry if that's a stupid question to be asked.

The G750H are so much cheaper than the other two??! Is there a difference among those three??? shocking.gif

From what I see in the LinusTechTips, all three are Tier A power supply... hmm.gif

The power supply have to be able to do its job at least and for future proof with the below parts.

Hi everyone,

I’m looking for advice from experienced PC builders.

My rig currently has an RTX 2080 Super. It’s been great so far, but in newer games like Dying Light: The Beast I can only play comfortably on medium settings, and even then there are occasional stutters.

I’d really like to run games on high or ultra settings, so I’m thinking of upgrading my GPU to at least an RTX 40-series card.

Budget: My price range is approximately RM 6,000–8,000, with a maximum of RM 10,000. I’m also open to buying parts gradually over time.

Can anyone suggest what other parts I should consider upgrading — CPU, RAM, PSU, motherboard, etc. — or share whether it might be better to do a full rebuild instead of just replacing the GPU?

Any recommendations, build examples, or personal experiences are much appreciated!

Thanks in advance.

Here’s the photo of my current PC rig at the bottom.

Just crappy developers pushing too much VRAM use. You have to upgrade CPU and GPU. Upgrade your graphic card to at least RTX 5080 + 850-1000W power supply. For the CPU, you can update BIOS and go with 5700X3D. its a downgrade of your CPU cores but better gaming performance. Or you can jump into 7800X3D or 9800X3D + mobo + 32GB or 48GB DDR5-6000 CL30.

Thank you for the tips!
Would you mind sharing some example parts or links for what you mentioned?
I’m not very experienced, so if I just search by name I worry I might buy something that doesn’t fit.
Especially with the GPU and motherboard — I’m not sure if they’ll fit into my Fractal Design case, or if I’d need to change the case too to support more demanding games.

Thanks for the tips everyone.

I think I’ll make these my first choice for now:

CPU: Ryzen 7 9800X3D

Mobo: MSI X870-P Wifi

GPU: Galax RTX 5080 White

PSU: Super Flower Leadex III 1000W

Case: Fractal North XL

Planning a full overhaul so it’ll last me a good few years.

Quick questions:

1. Which parts usually sell out faster or are more likely to go out of stock?
I’m guessing the case, but how about the others?

2. Can I reuse my SSD + HDD and current RAM for now, then upgrade later — it shouldn’t cause any issues, right?

3. On Shopee I noticed some CPU + mobo bundles are priced slightly higher (few hundreds) than buying separately.
Isn’t a combo usually cheaper, or is there something special about it?

If anyone has any more suggestions or alternatives, please let me know.

9800X3D will last you a while. You will be more worried about sales over than stock at this time.

Yes, you can reuse your drives. You cannot use DDR4 on X870 board. It uses DDR5 slots.

Yeah, thats why I handpicked the parts. Some bundles uses old prices.

Alright, understood — Guess I’ll have to include RAM in my list.
Thanks for pointing that out.

If your gonna do a full overhaul, its only a few % of the total for a decent Gen4 SSD with DRAM (S70 Blade, Legend 960Max,990 Pro, SN850X). That dinky 512GB SSD wont cut it if you install >3 COD/BF titles, so dont skimp on storage. Mind you some AAA are requiring installation on a SSD, a HDD doesnt cut it anymore.

Some rumours that RTX Supers will come in Oct/end Oct, so if you can wait why not wait until Supers launched?
*
I see, thanks for your input. I’ll keep that in mind — there’s already quite a lot of parts I need to get and they’re not cheap, so I’ll plan to swap the HDD for an SSD later on.

As for the RTX Super rumours in Oct/end Oct, I don’t mind waiting on the GPU purchase.
But it should be fine to buy the rest of the parts first, right?
Also, will the parts I listed in my ‘new 1st option’ still be compatible with my current GPU while I wait for the Supers?

Sorry, another quick question — any fan recommendations?
If I bought the Thermalright Royal Pretor 130 cooler for CPU Cooler.

I see a lot of people recommend Noctua, but the NF-A14x25r G2 PWM is hard to find from local sellers.
Are there more affordable alternatives that still offer solid airflow and quiet performance?
I’m planning to follow Fractal’s 140 mm fan layout for the North XL.
