Hi guys,

I plan to build a new rig to replace my old fx8350 system (990fxa, gtx970, 1866mhz 16gb)

certain games i played becomes bottlenecked by proc & gpu so i need to build a new system now..

1. Proc
2. Mobo
3. Gpu
4. Ram

Budget below 4k..playing 1440p games..

Pls recommend a system that fits me ( intel or new ryzen)..

Thanks in advance for your help!

How about these?
AMD Ryzen 7 1700 - 1599
Asus Prime B350M-A - 445
Corsair 8GB DDR4-2133 X1 - 260
Gigabyte GTX 1070 8GB DDR5 G1 Gaming - 1799 (from Garage Sales)

RM4103 total

I suggest selling existing and get this for less bottlenecking. AMD Ryzen bottlenecks GTX 1070 for some reason.

Core i7-7700K - 1526
Coolermaster Hyper 212X - 189
Gigabyte Z270X Gaming K5 - 899

Thanks for your suggestion!

Another question, i heard ryzen is good for multi tasking & video rendering, correct? So if i'm purely on gaming needs, should i just settle for intel setup in your opinion?

Tq~

Yes, Ryzen is very good. Sadly, Nvidia driver isn't fully optimized for Ryzen.

Even future games may take advantage of Ryzen. Hopefully AMD gets the developers to optimize.

If you are going i7-7700K build, make sure you get a good motherboard with at least 8-phase VRM that comes with heatsink. It is better for overclocking. Gigabyte Z270X Gaming K5 is among the cheapest.

Hello guys,

Need some advice here:-

1. Budget - RM6k below
2. Purpose - Gaming, online streaming
3. Hardwares that will be re-use - casing, kb, mouse, monitor, psu, ssd, hd
4. Monitor resolution - 1080p, 144hz
5. Target - can game above 100fps

here's the thing guys, currently i'm using fx8350 cpu, 990fxa mobo, 24gb ddr3 2133mhz, gtx980 gigabyte & getting about 60-70fps on most AAA games..

so, should this be the time to upgrade? if so, pls recommend the suitable system build, intel i7-7700k? or amd ryzen 7 1700?

thanks a bunch!

You will need i7-7700K or overclocked Ryzen 7 1700 to hit more than 100FPS. Kindly take note it still depends on games.

Option 1:
Core i7-7700K (4C/8T) - 1521
Noctua NH-D15S - 399
Gigabyte Z270X Gaming K5 - 899
Corsair Vengeance 8GB DDR4-2666 X2 - 636
Galax GTX 1080 8GB DDR5X EXOC - 2899 (Price increase. You may need to hunt for RM2.5k ones)

Option 2:
AMD Ryzen 7 1700 (8C/16T) - 1499
Noctua NH-D15S (you need to order AM4 mounting kit from Noctua. Use stock cooler first) - 399
Asus X370-F Gaming - 999
G.Skill Flare X DDR4-3200 16GB kit - 888 (from lelong.com.my)
Galax GTX 1080 8GB DDR5X EXOC - 2899 (Price increase. You may need to hunt for RM2.5k ones)

http://www.anandtech.com/show/11170/the-am...-1700x-and-1700

Still, Ryzen 7 1700 will rollover your FX-8350 and consumes significantly less power. It also rollovers i7-7700K on heavy apps and minimum FPS on a few games. Check your casing and make sure it has at least 165mm tall clearance before you buy that Noctua cooler.
Tough budget to work in.

How about these?

AMD Ryzen 3 1200 - 519
Gigabyte AB350N-Gaming WIFI - 545
https://www.lelong.com.my/gigabyte-ga-ab350...7-01-Sale-I.htm

Kingston 8GB DDR4-2400 X1 - 297
Galax GTX 1050 Ti 4GB DDR5 - 759
WD Black 1TB 2.5" - 299
Corsair VS 550W - 248
Coolermaster Elite 110 case - 189 (estimated)
Logitech MK100 keyboard and mouse - 49
LG 24MP68VQ24" monitor - 583

RM3488 total (C-zone prices)
Asking too much for the budget. PC prices are around 50% more compare to 2014.

Pentium G4560 - 249
Asrock H110M-DVS / HDV - 249
Apacer 8GB DDR4-2133 X1 - 289
WD Blue 1TB - 209
Cap ayam case and power supply - 100 (estimated)

RM1096 total (Viewnet prices)

I still advise against using crap power supply.
