Hi guys,

I needed some good recommendation. I'm planning to get an upgraded one from my i5. Thought of getting better processor now for my gaming. I don't do overclocking though.

[Budget]
3000-3500, the lower, the better but max is 3500

[Purpose]
Mainly on gaming

[Hardwares that will be re-use]
Monitor, keyboard, mouse, gpu rx470, 4GB kingston RAM x2, SSD & HDD.

[Monitor resolution]
1080p

[Games & softwares that use frequently]
Highest playtime: Warframe, Vermintide 2
Bought games like Crysis 3, witcher 3, wolfenstein, assassin creeds
mainly to play future games

[Personal preferences]
If you think the gpu may bottleneck, you may recommend for me.
I don't mind getting new RAM as well.

[Location]
Selangor, prefer PJ.
If no choice, then it's KL.

What is the model of your RAM? DDR3? DDR4?

Hi Tristan

My RAMs are DDR3.

If needed GPU upgrade, can increase it to 4500.

Had to admit that lately, the price spiked too much.

Thanks.

Yeah, definitely need to replace RAM.

AMD Ryzen 5 2600X - 999
Asus Prime B350M-A - 429
Crucial 8GB DDR4-2400 X2 - 674
Asus Strix GTX 1060 6GB DDR5 DC2 OC - 1399 (optional for future 1080p games)
Corsair TX 650M - 379
Corsair spec case - 279 (optional)

for Intel, switch to these:
Core i5-8500 - 785
Gigabyte B360M-D3H - 369

C-Zone prices.

Thanks Tristan for the part suggestion.

I planning to get a new rig from idealtech. I aws thinking for a long time about this. As i checked online, majority of people would suggest to get i5-8400 for value. However, most of them suggest to get i5-8600k for long term investment.

I thought of getting i7-8700 at 1st but they said if i OC i5-8600k, it will par with it. I believed this will be my 1st time getting a OC cpu.

I'm planning to increase my budget to 5k-5.5k instead. Currently, looking at i5-8600k and 1070 ti.
I got the SSD & HDD already. Do you think my current new budget is good enough to get best of them?

[budget]5k-5.5k

[cpu] i5-8600k
[mbo]
[mem]
[gpu] Gigabyte windforce GTX 1070 ti?
[psu]
[case] Maybe sharkoon DG7000-G, may get higher if within budget.

[additional info]
Will still use same 1080p monitor, don't have enough budget to upgrade. Mainly for playing games, including total war.

Thanks all!

Hey thanks Kristal.S and Tristan.

I was updating the list and also added rebate so that i could get the correct price.
Here is the list:
idealtech.com.my/store/builder/show.php?serial=0PD8K2CH

You're free to comment on this. As Tristan said, i7 is more future proof. I am still thinking about it. If i am to get i7, i may look into 8700k. That's a big price spike. Right now, apart from workstation, only 2 games i know uses HT which are Crysis 3 and Ashes of singularity.

Apart from that guys, i always wanted to know about the motherboard part. Is it really necessary to get more expensive motherboard? Last time, the higher end motherboard was meant for more ports, expansion and features(RAID). Now i check online, they said it is best to get better motherboard due to VRM, specially for CPU now.

Also, does the audio system on motherboard can make a big different when getting more expansive motherboard?

Thanks guys.

Go for Corsair TX 650M or 750M if they have stock for the power supply. ROFLstomps Hydro on the performance.

Yes, expensive motherboards usually have more ports and better VRMs. I can assure you Sound Blaster X-Fi Titanium onwards beats any Realtek chips. More sounds can come out at the same time for my Sound Blaster X-Fi Titanium.

Wah, seriously? I didn't know FSP is bad. I got review that FSP isn't bad. Is it because of non modular?

So technically, the audio on motherboard are shit no matter how high end you pick then. XD

FSP isn't bad. Just that you can get better at around the same price.

I asked the ideal tech, they don't have Corsair TX 650M.They got only Corsair 600 SFX 80Gold+.

They recommended this list instead. They said the cooler Hyper212 isn't sufficient enough.

That PSU is pricey but good. They also carry Seasonic Focus+.

How about EVGA Supernova 650 G+ Gold Full Modular PSU? At least, this one has 10 years warranty.
