Your processor and mobo still pretty solid in today standard. Since it is unlocked, you can get a better cooler and overclock it for some extra performance to stay relevant for another few years.

As for GPU, I will say don't settle for anything lower than GTX1070, AMD's equivalent is VEGA and yet being launched. Of course if you have the money, GTX1080TI is a solid choice too, though volta (next gen) may be round the corner which make buying high end card now a bad decision.

Option 1: i5 7500, GTX 1060, 144Hz monitor

Option 2: Ryzen 5 1600, RX 580, 75Hz Freesync monitor

Which combo would you guys go? 144Hz monitor with a weaker cpu or better cpu but 75 hz monitor with freesync?
