Hi Guys, would u guys help to advice what is the combination for these requirement?
Please do provide the following info while posting

[B][Budget] prefer as low as possible as only to get motherboard only (I try to search for pricelist in first post and google but couldn't get any now?)
If I couldn't get any motherboard suit below hardware (especially processor) do not hesitate to list some motherboard and processor combination...

[Purpose] generic office use only.. previous desktop was on G33 chipset with LGA775 + DDR2, rest should be generic SATA drive, normal 400-500W PSU, no external graphic card

[Hardwares that will be re-use]
DDR 2 or 3 RAM, LGA 775 or LGA 1156 processor

There is no new parts for ancient hardware. You have to go with second hand. This is not second hand thread. Make a new post.

Today's Pentium G6400/G7400 will laugh at those hardware anyway.

Thank you bro.. Reluctant to get second handed good afraid of reliability issue . And there is no plan to upgrade existing win7 OS yet. If this is the case, gonna get new part for these office PC, what's the combination of processor and Mobo (possibilty RAM as well) for this generic office use PC? Really sorry because really out of date and got no idea what's the latest low end spec, and of course, budget constraint...

Motherboard alone already more than half of the budget minimum. Good luck!

Any other suggestion.... I was looking around garage sales section and found some legacy P45 or X58.. wondering if these chipset can works with W10
My objective to upgrade to Win 10 was due to recently our bank PBE had updated requirement for browser which leads to old (Windows 7) browser failed to work with their banking app.. so we need to get the OS updated....

Those are ancient hardware. Very unlikely it will support. I would advise getting at least Pentium G6405 or Core i3-10100 setup for future proofing . New Windows 11 also doesn't support a lot of old hardware.

This one is extremely value for money.

Core i3-10105 (i7-7700 in disguise) - 383
MSI B560M Pro-E - 320
Kingston 8GB DDR4-3200 X2 - 180

Well very thank you for the suggestion....I was also still wandering from that CPU which have LGA1200...just realized u post 1 combination.. that was 2x more then our budget...what about AMD will it cheaper?

If you cannot accept the reality of crappy ringgit and inflation, it is hard. Even the food today is already more than 5 times the cost compared with 30 years ago.

Recommendation is new parts. I've picked i3-10105 instead of Pentium G6405 because Pentium is currently ridiculously overpriced. Around RM320 for 2 cores, 4 threads. Pay RM60 more for Core i3-10105 that comes with additional 2 cores.

AMD?

Athlon 3000G. - 235
Asrock A320M-HDV - 199
Kingston 8GB DDR4-3200 X2 - 180

Wow.. looking at the spec still as of today.. Price for AMD vs Intel still the same as before so huge difference even I put G6405 in the line for 2 core vs 2 core.... Missed those time so much when u can get a decent CPU + MOBO + RAM for RM400 10 years back..
By the way where do u get all the pricelist and the product available? Seems like those pricelist website all already gone

Last time we used to have hardwarezone, lowyat net front page, navotech, thundermatch at least with hardware price list available.. without this I can't even got idea to match

Yeah, can't do anything about it. Latest motherboards costs even more. Depends on the performance level. AMD not always cheaper.

You can check prices from Shopee. Buy part by part and assemble yourself. C-Zone and Viewnet puts their price list on their website.

So while lurking on shopee looking for my AMD 3200 build.. I suddenly found this
https://shp.ee/cf6if6f
Seems like the whole PC only at 880 (w/out RAM and SSD) spec is better then i310100 and AMD 3200 I guess? Is this kind of PC a better bet since this is just for office use PC...

Nice find. Thats cheap. I wonder if the cooling could keep up or not. User reviews looks good though.

Do not buy the SSD. I smell crap ones from that store. Avoid any SSD that doesn't come with DRAM. Unless you like stutterfest.

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1B27...2gT4/edit#gid=0

RAM probably DDR4 SO-DIMM. Also, do not buy if that seller doesn't specify what he'll give. Ryzen loves RAM speed. I would advise a pair of DDR4-3200 SODIMM.

The con will be upgradeability. You have to buy entire set again when you need it.

I believed the user review refer to the APU 4700 only right..
If I read the mini desktop spec which is far better then what we looked for and of course rm830 cones with windows (not sure is real or ehem one btw)
My question now is... What is the Mobo for this built?
The PC warranty for 1 year.. I had asked the seller.....

Probably, but build quality can be dodgy and if something related to the system board/SoC fails you'll have to resort to component level board repair which itself may not be a good idea icon_idea.gif

If your budget is tight you might want to look at prebuilt machines from office liquidation/second hand stores (like those Dell Optiplexes/HP Elite Mini/Desk/Lenovo ThinkCentre) instead - note that you may need to pay a bit more for a SSD as most of them are only equipped with a HDD icon_idea.gif
Note: look for such machines with an 8th gen Intel CPU and above, as those machines are officially supported for Windows 11 (Windows 10 support is ending in about a year) icon_idea.gif

Any suggestions sifu? I had looked around too in 2nd hand computer store but mostly all very old unit like C2D or pentium.. even i3 or it which is very early win 7 unit...

Might be worth a gamble though icon_idea.gif
Probably a real copy, but not activated - you will need your own activation key for this icon_idea.gif
Probably some proprietary one, but if your is that tight then the mini PC you've mentioned is probably the best one (the 4700U is a fast mobile APU, it's even capable of some gaming) icon_idea.gif

U see.. since I started search shoppe for more hardware.. I found more cheaper and branded mini PC alternative... I see this is a good bet too... Isn't it? 6th Gen able to go for win 11 in case I want too.. right? Is it just half of the budget for own build desktop...
