Hi guys, my Lenovo Y400 approaching 6 years old now and already dying.

Thinking of upgrading to a proper PC.

Budget is around RM3.5K - RM4K (100% on tower, already have 1080p monitor, mouse and keyboard).

Primary purpose: gaming (csgo & wow mainly, maybe try anthem/apex legends. WON'T be playing AAA games as i have PS4 for that), media consumption (Youtube, reddit etc)

Secondary purpose: Light photo edits and video edits. Nothing intense.

Monitor resolution is now 32'' 1080p, might upgrade to 1440p in the future but not now.

Must haves: SSD, 16gb ram.

I'm a newbie when it comes to builds so any help will be recommended.

Location KL.

Hey, thanks for the build. What are the advantages of picking the Ryzen 5 over i5 9400f?

For reference, I also got idealtech to quote me a build and they offered me the following.

Build is here: https://imgur.com/o9Z2PeM

Whats the difference between the two builds? Main differences I can see is the GC and power supply unit.

Vs Idealtech

CPU - Intel better for gaming, except this issue - https://www.zdnet.com/article/all-intel-chi...ct-a-quick-fix/
Mobo - Supports at least year 2020 CPU
GPU - RTX 2060 is more powerful
SSD - WD Green does not come with DRAM cache. Can cause stuttering issue. Adata SX8200 Pro is faster by a country mile.
PSU - Corsair TX650M stomps FSP Hydro big time

Based on what I read online, the 2060 is only slightly better than the 1660TI, correct?

Seems like it doesn't make a diff to me cause the games I play (mainly CSGO and wow) are not even heavy on the GPU. Perhaps I should save the money from the GPU and invest elsewhere as suggested by your build?

Does anyone know if it's possible to build a PC with 3060/3060Ti at least for a budget of RM5K-RM5.5K?

I've not monitored the PC scene for quite a while and just wondering if the stock shortages are even showing signs of recovering or are we far from it?

Usage of PC would be for gaming and software development work. Games interested include Warzone, CSGO, Valo, WOW, F1 and/or Forza. Nothing t oo graphically intensie.

Would like to get a 1440p monitor in the future but not even sure if it's a good fit for the 3060/3060Ti.

Any adivce would be greatly appreciated.

What do you think about the builds in the follow links below and save for future upgrades instead?

1. https://www.dotatech.com.my/collections/pre...=29938526552167

For this, I know the AMD processor is an old gen and have over-heating issues. most probably shit ram, psu and ssd as well?

2. https://www.level51pc.co/welcome/rts_details/4490

No comments on this but most probably shit ram, psu and ssd?

3. https://www.dotatech.com.my/collections/pre...=20572419063911

Not too sure about intel chips.

4. https://shopee.com.my/product/114874624/1955102688/

No idea about this as well.

I'm trying to get at least a 2060 so that im not buying a card that's too old.

What do you think for my usage? f1, wow, valorant, coding and media consumption. I went to C-zone earlier but the quotes are too damn high lol. I find these more reasonable. If you had to pick 1 of the 4, which would you pick?

Scythe Mugen 5 for cooler, Arctic Cooling Liquid Freezer II 360 or Corsair H150i Elite Capellix if you wanna go there.

Phanteks Eclipse P500A or Fractal Design Meshify 2 (not compact) for case.

Thanks boss. I was actually looking at the Corsair 4000X and Corsair H115i Capellix initially. What do you think of this combo?

and why the P500a over P400a?
