Hey guys, thanks for helping me build a new rig as my old one died (display suddenly turned light blue-ish, I then manually reset it, now when I switch it on, the display doesn't show anything. I have swapped monitors, GPU and RAM but nothing helped.)

My aim is to procure a value for Ringgit competitive gaming rig with hopefully a 144hz monitor (with adaptive sync). Future-proofing if possible.

Budget - 3k for now (inclusive of a 144hz monitor, may bump up the budget).

Purpose - Primarily for competitive gaming, followed by NetFlix and light work (excel, word, email, research).

Hardwares that will be re-use - Possibly the following 6 years old equipments - SSD (Crucial M4 128GB), 1TB HDD, Case (Cooler Master CM 690 II), PSU (SilverStone 700W), Cooler (Corsair H60). Will also be using my old keyboard, mouse and mousepad.

Monitor resolution - Currently FHD 60hz. Planning to swap to FHD 144hz with adaptive sync.

Games & softwares that use frequently - Overwatch, NetFlix & various single-player games (Doom for example).

Personal preferences - I lean slightly in favour of Intel due to good experience of the same. In regard to Nvidia vs Radeon, I am completely clueless in this regard save for Nvidia is needed for G-sync monitors whereas Radeon is needed for FreeSync monitors.

Location - Flexible as I am able to commute to Lowyat and/or Digital Mall (SS14)

Remarks - I am not the overclocking type. Also, I am the type who doesn't mind spending a little extra if it is worth it.

Thanks guys notworthy.gif notworthy.gif

So... after deduct monitor with adaptive sync then left with RM 2200?

Competitive gaming means like i5-8400 with RX580 then... but those will take up like 90% budget already. Not yet include RAM, motherboard

Unless you go with

i3-8100 (450)
GTX1060 6GB (1200) or Rx580 8GB (1400+) (https://www.eurogamer.net/articles/digitalfoundry-2018-09-12-geforce-gtx-1060-vs-rx-580-7001)
H310 (280)
8GB DDR4 (300)

Then add Acer XF240H around RM750-800 (https://www.acer.com/ac/en/SI/content/model/UM.FX0EE.001)

Thanks bro for the extremely prompt response.

hmm.gif hmm.gif If i bump up the budget up to 4k, can I go for the i5-8400 with RX580 w/ adaptive sync monitor?

I think so

For 4k budget:

i5-8400 (750)
B360 (370)
16GB DDR4 (600)
HDD+SSD Reuse
Casing+PSU Reuse
Acer XF240H (770)

Subtotal around RM2500

GPU (depends on brand and model):
GTX 1060 GB (RM 1150-1350)
RX 580 8GB (RM 1350-1650)
GTX 1070 is already end-of-life but some online seller may have it for RM 1500-1700

RM 4k is indeed possible for excellent gaming

Thank you so much bro. I am leaning towards the RX 580 8gb (freesync is cheaper), is there any particular brand I should go for?
