Hey guys,

I've been given this quote for my rendering rig that I'll be using for work

Any things I should opt in or out, need opinions and feedback? Price sits just right at around my given budget.

AMD Ryzen ™ 7 1700 + Wraith Spire 95W Cooler GIGABYTE GA-AB350-GAMING 3
CORSAIR Vengeance® LPX 8GB DDR4 2666MHz DRAM x2
Fractal Design Integra M Bronze Modular 550W Power Supply
TOSHIBA 1TB HDD 7200RPM
APACER PANTHER/OCZ TR SERIES 120GB SSD
GIGABYTE GeForce® GTX 1050 Ti D5 4G # 1430MHz | 4G/D5

Thanks!

Hi all,

I have myself an Alienware R12, but I will be shifting overseas soon so looking to replace some parts of the prebuilt, mainly looking to get a new casing, PSU, and MOBO (and some additional parts like fans and etc)

currently my specs are :-

11700k 11gen
RTX3070
32gb DDR4 @ 2666mhz (a bit slow i know but it was harvested from old pc)
1x 512gb boot ssd
1x 1tb pcie3 ssd
1x 2tb 3.5" hdd

what would your recommendations be for PSU, Casing, and MB?

The stock R12 comes with a z490 or z470 series
Something equivalent or slightly lower on spec would be ok I guess

It's a workstation for Architecture and Design, with occasional gaming.

Expecting it to last me a couple more years so futureproofing is ok.

Cheers

Get large casings. They'll help with cooling.

Phanteks Eclipse P500A
Phanteks Enthoo Pro 2
Fractal Design Meshify 2
Lian Li Lancool II Mesh

PSU?
Cougar GX-S 750W
Corsair RM750
NZXT C750

Motherboards:
MSI Z590-A Pro
MSI Z590 Torpedo

Also, get the best cooler and your CPU will happily boost even more.

the psu compatible for normal mobo i think... alienware 1000w is beast..

as for mobo.. z590 would be good..

wan casing like aquarium or?

Thanks for the recommendation, unfortunately a full atx chassis might be too big for me to move around with it cause I'll most likely be shifted to across the globe again in another year time. Just realised this.

About Alienware's stock 1000W PSU, I can't trace back the thread I've read on dell forum or reddit, but apparently the PSU uses slightly different cable or connector that poses an issue during installation for other motherboard, that's why I opted to go for a new PSU instead.

I've done some shopping based on the recommended list above, got something slightly toned down a bit, any comments on this?

PSU: NZXT C850
Mobo: GIGABYTE B560m AORUS PRO mATX (I can reuse the killer 6 wifi on this, sufficient PCI mounting for my RTX and SSD)
Cooler: BE QUIET! Shadow Rock 3 (Opted this instead of AIO due to potential breakage on check in luggage, less maintenance too)
Case: Tecware Nexus M2 mATX (maybe something similar for recommendation would be ok)

Estimated cost for these are about 1600

Why go with B560 boards when you can take advantage with CPU overclocking with a Z590 board? sweat.gif

11700F so its locked unfortunately. However as a workstation I seldom overclock it, never seemed to find the need for it even on my old Ryzen 1700x rig
