Someone in Reddit suggested this build, any thoughts?

AMD - Ryzen 5 2600 3.4 GHz 6-Core Processor
MSI - B450-A PRO ATX AM4 Motherboard
SeaSonic - S12III 500 W 80+ Bronze Certified ATX Power Supply
*
WoW favors Intel. It loves fast single thread CPU too. Corsair TX650M will stomp Seasonic S12III.

[Budget] RM 4000-4500

[Purpose] Casual Gaming - Mini-ITX Build

[Monitor resolution] 1980x1080

[Games & softwares that use frequently] Steam, AAA games (Chrome  tongue.gif)

[Personal preferences] Console gamer trying into PC building, Hope can build a PC that can run High setting at 1080p / 60Hz until PS5 Slim.

[Components In Mind]
Intel i5-9400F
MSI B360I Gaming Pro AC
Klevv 2X8GB 2666MHz
Samsung EVO 970 250GB
Silverstone SFX ST45SF-G 450W

Zotac GTX 1660 Amp or Zotac GTX 1660 Ti Amp ?

Seem the difference between 1660 and 1660 Ti is mainly the DDR5 vs DDR6 RAM. Is it a big difference for performance?
*
If you are gaming at 1080p, here are some figures: https://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/Zotac/G..._1660_Twin_Fan/

GameFPS with GTX1660 with i7-8700k% improvement using GTX1660Ti
Shadow of the Tomb Raider80.413%
Monster hunter world57.914%
Battlefield 584.813%
Witcher 369.513%
GTA V111.714%

In general, 1660Ti gives about 13-14% better FPS at 1080p for the same processor, but some games are below 60FPS such as MH:W

Remember that for 1080p (compared to 1440p and above), it is quite dependent on CPU performance.

So you have to consider...
1. 9400F may have slightly less FPS than 8700K for the table above.
-So you expect maybe 5%-10% less FPS for all cases

2. Is GTX1660 Going to be enough for all the games you want to play? Are you ok to reduce game settings with your GTX1660 to get better FPS?
-This is GTX1660Ti with 9400F... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MIzQN7s_ieg
-If GTX 1660 is not enough, then 1660Ti will be the way forward, or even RTX2060

Thanks. Seem like the 10+% improvement of GTX1660Ti over GTX1660 is not proportional to the 20+% price up... Maybe I should settle with GTX1660..

If you are not in a hurry, can wait till Navi gets announced. That may change the market prices a bit.

Great build there but swap out the WD Blue M.2 SSD for a Adata SX8200 Pro 256GB NVME SSD for a similar price with better performance. PSU can consider Super Flower Silver Eco 500W 80+ for RM279.

Hi all sifus,

Can suggest what model of hardware I should get for programming (visual studio and android studio), light entertainment and gaming?

[CPU] - Intel I7
[RAM] - 16GB (upgradable to 32gb later)
[MB] - ??? not sure what model to get, better to have additional slot where I can upgrade later.
[GC] - Graphic card built in MB
[SC] - Sound card built in MB
[NC] - Network card built in MB
[SSD] - at least 256GB for OS and installed software. I'm not sure which to choose, sata, m.2 sata or m.2 nvme?
[HDD] - 2 X [1TB/2TB] 7200rpm, plan for sw raid-1.
[PSU] - no idea, extra watt to support if I plan to add hw later.
[CS] - Cooling system or fan. I plan to let it running for 1-2 weeks when i'm outstation and remote to my pc.

thank you.

Suggest B450 motherboard and M.2 nvme SSD if you can afford it. I would avoid A320 and Dram-less SSD like a400.

You can also consider another 1tb HDD for storage, especially if your SSD drive for OS is only 256gb or less.

For AMD option switch to these:

CPU: AMD RYZEN 5 2600 3.4GHZ SOCKET AM4 RM639.00
MOBO: ASROCK B450M STEEL LEGEND SOCKET AM4 RM365.00
RAM: KINGSTON HYPERX PREDATOR RGB 16GB(2X8GB)DRR4 3200MHZ RM 495.00

TOTAL: RM1,499 (E Tech PC prices)

Intel still gives better performance in terms of gaming.
