Noted with thanks. My friend's PSU is 700w, I believe these are sufficient? Also is it okay to use custom cooler instead of SCYTHE FUMA REV. B? I think the extra money can go to faster RAM (he said no need RGB also can, casing no window biggrin.gif)
*
For intel, RAM speeds not that much a factor usually, compared to Ryzen systems. 2666 will do fine

Hi Sifus,

[B][Budget] RM 2K

[Purpose] Gaming

[Hardwares that will be re-use] RAM (Kingston HyperX 8GB DDR3), Monitor

[Games & softwares that use frequently] DotA 2, latest games with medium config

[Personal preferences] Prefer SSD, if I use my old 500GB harddisk along with new SSD would it affect the performance?
*
It depends... with smaller SSD, you need somewhere to put your games. If install your games on the old HDD, then loading times would be limited by the HDD too... so imagine if the hdd is 5400 rpm.

If you don't care about future upgrading, just find a Phenom II X6, increase RAM to 8GB and get an GTX1050 Ti (roughly rm1100-1350 total)

BUT, if you want to have a proper upgrade path, AM4 is the way to go.

You could get what TristanX suggested, or settle for Ryzen 2400G for with fast compatible RAM for now, and saving up for better GPU.

Hello, sorry if i ask here but i need fast reply.

My rig can turn on but no display on monitor. When I press2 the monitor button, it only shown "entering safe mode". I try on board VGA also no display.

When I see inside my rig, the fan is spinning, the mobo lamp is there, ONLY 1 of the GPU fan is not running (AMD R9 270x). I notice when I plug in the keyboard/mouse USB, it didnt detect at all.

My setup is i5 4460, amd r9 270x, Hyper X fury 4gbx2, asus b85m-g, seasonic 620wtt. dell s2304l.

what couse this problem?
*
Can ask in technical side for more attention. But I wonder if GPU is spoiled. Take gpu out and tested with onboard video?

Depends on how much you want for "SUPER SMOOTH". Budget is very low, barely enough for i3 and 16GB RAM if you wanna go nuts with the browser windows.

Pentium G5400 - 225
Gigabyte H310M-S2 - 259
Kingston 8GB DDR4-2400 X1 - 285
WD Blue or Seagate 1TB - 180
Corsair VS 450W - 159
Tecware Core mATX case - 89
LG 22MK430H 21.5" monitor - 369

RM1576 total (C-Zone prices)

Adding SSD also makes your Windows experience smooth as well.
*
I thought budget enough for i3-8100 (RM 450 ish) as well as a 128GB SSD (RM 120-140)

hi sifus,

Want to upgrade my old desktop :

Usage : SQL Dev + light gaming

Budget 2.5 K

I guess i can keep only case, screen, mouse keyboard

Thx in advance
*
How big is your case? Most proprietary cases are customized...
Your monitor 1080p?

Probably:

I3-8100 (450)
8gb DDR4 (280-310)
Matx board, B360 chipset (280-350)
Gtx1050ti (730-780)
256GB SATA SSD (200-280)
1tb HDD (175-190)
450-550w decent psu (300-400)

If need casing, can pick out a decent casing around rm80-160

Thanks for your reply. May I know why AMD instead of Intel+nvidia? What specification would you suggest for Intel+nvida combo? Thanks
*
Considering possible multitasking, more cores and threads would be an advantage, rather than speed per core. Intel build maybe i7-7700 or 8700, which would cost more.

We used to have recommended basic components combination at different price points. I have not been keeping track for the past 2 years in the subforum but I guess it is ok to post here?

I try to avoid specific brands and models, as to let users compare cheapest prices at stores nearest to them and check compatibility of parts (especially RAM support for Ryzen motherboards)

Not inclusive of monitor, operating system, peripherals

A Low end VR built:
Intel i5 8400

Gigabyte H370M-D3H

SSD - Kingston A400 240GB 2.5" SSD - SA400S37/240G

Cooler Master RS-550

Cooler Master Elite 130

Kingston 8GB DDR4 RAM

Can all these parts fit together nicely? I was worrying about the Mobo (Micro ATX) not being able to fit in the Cooler Master Elite 130 casing as suggested by another member earlier.
*
Find the Elite 311 instead. What GPU are you getting? 1060 or 1070?

Can recommend a Mobo (Gigabyte preferably, or anything that can be found easily in Lazada/11street) that can fit in this casing? Around RM300
GPU wise putting in a GTX 1060.

Any good gaming setup for RM5k budget with monitor?
*
Are you looking at 1080p gaming?

If so...

i5-8400 (750-770)
stock cooler (or add decent one like cm hyper 212 or cryorig for around RM 200-240)
B360 motherboard (300-400)
16GB DDR4-2400 or 2666 (550-640)
GTX1060 6GB (1200-1350)
240GB SSD (200-300)
1 TB HDD (175-190)
500-650W (300-550)
Decent casing (120-250)

144Hz 1080p monitor (780-850)

Depending on brand and model of hardware, and where you are, total should be RM 4500-5550

My monitors are dying, should I go get the 144hz ones or stick with 60hz monitors?
*
If your FPS regularly >100 in the games you play, and money is no object, why not? Else if FPS 70-90 usually, there are 75Hz gaming monitors too.

The only latest FPS game that I have is PUBG. Other than that all are old games (L4D2, far cry 2, CS etc). Budget is also tight as well. Now since you mentioned
75hz monitors I will look it up.

If I go 144hz I would get the Dell S2419HGF.

If I go 75hz I would prefer if it priced under RM600 and it got to be IPS panel.

decisions, decisions hmm.gif
*
How about Acer Nitro VG240Y?
Compare with 144Hz alternatives like Acer XF240H (Acer ED242QR is cheaper with some compromises).

Sincere apologies for the inactivity, been a very hectic year.

Do we start a new thread, or continue on?

Plus would appreciate a PM of the latest group of active contributors.

On a side note, finally moved on and upgraded my PC. Which means my old monitor is not longer capable of keeping up and I'm getting massive screen tearing especially on Tarkov.

Should i stick with a 27 inch like the Acer XB271HU or sacrifice some PPI and go for a LG 32GK850G?
*
Go straight to Acer Predator smile.gif

I have played some games using a 32 inch LED TV years ago... It wasn't that comfortable due to the desk was only 60 cm deep.

Not easy at that budget, as need to cover monitor too.

G5400 (260)
H310 (250-300)
8gb ddr4-2400 (290)
GTX1050 (550)
1tb hdd (180)
450-500w psu (180-220)
matx casing (80-140)

already almost rm2k there

22inch fhd monitor roughly rm300-350

if can top up budget, get i3-8100 (440-470) and gtx 1050 Ti (700-750), and a 128gb ssd (120-150)
