my quote for u... 12700 anyhow oso better than 13500 kua.. hehe
*
Haha almost like my PC specs except some bits different! biggrin.gif

But nowadays RX6700XT is same price as 3060Ti so its not worth getting the RTX any longer whatmore the 8G VRAM limit.

I'd reckon all the above to OP except swap GPU to 6700XT.
Also swap PSU to a more reputable brand. 1st Player is something what adamtayy would reco. Yikes!

What production? DDR5-5200 will choke 7950X. DDR5-6000 CL30 is recommended.

NH-D15 is not enough to cool 7950X as well.
*
7950X has hard limit of 170W, unless OCing

user posted image

So dual tower with TDP of 200W should able to cool it down, Ryzen are a lot more power efficient and throws out less heat than Intel.

For that a D15 or FC140 would be plenty, even the new PS120 ought to do the job with its 280W TDP

Worth to wait till July for the release of 4060ti or get 3070 if I bump the budget up to 6k?

RM 2800 could get a 3080 which beats the 4060Ti

Thanks TristanX
seems like better to give up on 1440p based on budget.
I asked for a quote based on budget from shop and was provide with this.

INTEL CORE i5 13400F
ASROCK B760M PRO RS WIFI
KINGSTON 2X8GB 3600MHZ DDR4 FURY BEAST
KINGSTON 500G NV2 500GB
ZOTAC RTX4060TI 8GB DDR6X TWIN EDGE
LANCOOL 205M MESH
SILVERSTONE ST65FES230 650W 80+WHITE
AURAFLOW X EVO 240L

Is it ok?
from the forum I read, need to replace the SSD with KC3000.
*
On top of the above I will just add that nonK at XMP 3600MHZ is highly improbable at Gear1 and to get the 3600 speeds the mobo will drop down to Gear2 which you don't want. Just stick to 2x8GB 3200MHZ RAM kits, and XMP should far less problematic.

And yes, that SSD shd be replaced by something with DRAM cache.

With these many subpars, that quoted shop/salesman tried to game you, which sadly is commonplace with brick & mortars in Msia.

Thanks guys for all the advise.
Really appreciate it.
roughly worked out the spec like this based on the advise and research on the forum

Core i5-13400F - 995
Thermalright Assassin X 120 - 59
MSI B760M-A Pro Wifi or Asrock B760M Pro RS Wifi ~680
Kingston fury beast 3200Mhz 8gbx2 - 208
Kingston KC3000 1TB - 349
1st player steampunk 750 gold - 375

GPU either RX 6800 or topup to RT4070

any budget case with usb-c infront to recommend? Corsair 4000D? Lian Li 216?

seems like budget burst till RM5.4k

Thanks again guys

Since really budget tight, if you dont mind the RGB spine can get montech

Hi, could any guru recommend a all rounder Mini ITX desktop for me? I might do gaming occasionally on my 4K monitor (I dont mind do it at QHD when game, but if could do 4k is better, upcoming plan to play diablo 4) and also most of the time use it for multimedia and workstation/trading desk. My budget could stretch to RM6-7k.

I am currently looking something spec like below:

AMD Ryzen 7 7700
AMD ITX Mobo
AIO Cooling
32GB DDR5 RAM
NVDIA 4070
650W PSU
1TB NVME SSD
ITX case
*
Expecting ITX to run playable FPS on 4K is like asking Myvi to race in F1. Not gonna happen. You need 4090 /3090Ti/7900XTX level of GPU and these class of GPU are nearly impossible to fit in ITX case or even if could will be starved of airflow and will throttle badly. 4070 is a 1440P class GPU, unless you like playing 4K at 30FPS or less.

Why 4070 / 3080 cannot run 4k?

U doesnt always need to go ultra setting for AAA, especially those poorly graphic optimised games.

Nr200p is a very good case, which can fit alot of high end gpu. U can even do high feet mod to allow additional fans at btm as intake
*
Read it urself why
user posted image

Anything below 3090 is barely acceptable FPS

user posted image

Even with mid quality a 3080 is barely pass.

People play 4K bcoz of visual fidelity and better immersion, so max visual quality is a must.

Nr200p could fit high end previous generation GPU but the 4090 and some 4080 is impossible.

Tat game is poorly optimised.

And not all people play AAA. Not all people play ganes at ultra setting.

Some ppl play low requirement games like genshin or fortnite.

Some people use 4k for other purpose, but need a cheaper gpu for gaming purpose. Why not?

I fit my tuf 4080 in nr200p without any issue with cablemod.
*
Poorly optimised games are the new norm now.

Fortnite is an FPS focused game so typically serious players dont run at 4K but even so a 3080 still cannot get minimum 120 FPS

user posted image

As again I said you still need at least 4080 or 7900XT

Ya, I understand the limitation to try get the best of all worlds is almost impossible especially with ITX, and actually I didn't play so much game nowadays. I am fine to settle down to play in 1440p as well  biggrin.gif

I prefer higher resolution, I can live with lower setting like what gackleong mentioned  whistling.gif
*
You gotta be clear what you can live with, not what people tells you. If want 4K is not gonna be cheap nor can you fit the monster hardware necessary to run it inside a dinky case. Other people will tell you they can do it but you dunno their use case or if their hardware is starved of cooling.

On top of that a 4K monitor/TV is also gonna be pricey so for 4K either your in it all way (at least RM 10k for the system) or rather go for a more affordable solid 2K experience. For that an ATX or at least MATX has the power VRMs enuff for a 13900/K or 7800X3D, which an ITX mobo would lack as these usually are for lower power CPUs. Then pair with a 4070Ti/4080/7900XT, altogether gives high enuff FPS for well playable 2K.

Put them all into at least an airflow MATX case. Some will tell you it can fit into an ITX case but just bcoz it fits doesnt mean will run well. A 13900K also can fit into a H610 mobo and also functions but can it run to its intended limits? Ask urself that.

Prebuilds usually have the worst cooling ability, at best having 1 or 2 intake fans despite some being large cases. Just know that ur room for future upgrades is limited.

Beside heating issues, anything else I should be concerned about? The other person mention the PSU also not great?
*
If ur not gonna do significant upgrade later, ie change mobo & CPU & GPU, then its a very capable system for the money. And if ur buying the system as specced, you need to add in extra RAM anyhow as it only comes with 1 stick so its running single channel.

Can get it, game on it for the next few years, then turn it into home media system while you get a new replacement.

PSU is underpowered, I suspect it replace/added in with the 3070 some time after the system was bought? Since 3070 minimum is 550-650W PSU so that 500W is obviously strained to cope.

Hi guys, need some suggestion

I have an RM16000 budget for a graphic editing PC for my wife, she mostly use Photoshop & Illustrator. Sometimes REVIT & SketchUp for her hobby of designing floor plans & doing interior design

*Internal hardware only, will reuse the current casing, keyboard, mouse, monitor & custom water cooling loop
**No gaming whatsoever will be done on this PC
***The motherboard needs to support 3 NVMe drives. 1 for OS, 1 for Adobe scratch disk feature & 1 for storage only
*
Check this for some ideas https://www.cgdirector.com/best-computer-for-graphic-design/

Some reco might be one generation older, but still avaiable, otherwise just update to the current equivalent (ie 12600 -> 13600)

QUOTE(peter32 @ May 30 2023, 03:00 PM)
Dear all sifu,

I am considering to build a workstation, home use, mainly for data crunching, which I do not mind getting a used CPU for the purpose. Here's my intended list of criteria and options:
1. Budget, strict, hopefully less than 2K.
2. Do not mind used CPU, or even motherboard.
3. Mainly for data crunching by running software, at times day and night. So I already have some spare casing fans etc which Iwill mod to improve cooling.
4. Chip: i7, even consider dual chip motherboard.
5. RAM: 64GB or around there.
6. SSD, I have old one which I can still use.

So my question would be, is it advisable for me to proceed with this sort of option? Or I might as well get a newer motherboard with i5, where the modern ones could have faster or comparable speed for data crunching?

Another question would be is it a good advice to get a dual chip motherboard, get two used i7 and run accordingly. Older motherboard could be cheaper in general I suppose.

Thank you very much for any ideas.
*
RM 2k for workstation CPU + mobo + RAM = will be used and something ancient like Core 6th or 7th gen.

Perhaps a 12400 + B660 Pro RS + 64GB DDR4 ValueRAM might be better taking into account the IPC gains for ADL...

If you have the case and everything else these are much better deals
https://www.lazada.com.my/products/1-machin....e03d7f67hsFxxA

https://www.lazada.com.my/products/machinis....e03d7f67hsFxxA

10 cores 20 threads.

But these are still only half ur budget so if you search harder you probably can get better deal with newer gen CPU & mobo combo or have more cores.

Kastam will give problems to whatever they choose. RM 1k PC part they might nosey in but could oso be something about antidumping old tech stuff here (for recyling). But usually if from Lazada/Shopee prolly will be more assured as their 'cable' is stronger.
