The 500w Cooler Master psu came with the secondhand rig.

I was told there shouldn't be any issue since the GTX1060 doesn't exceed 122w:

Because Coolermaster has a crappy line of PSUs. Extreme Power Plus is one of them.

Oh, that chart is just the graphic card, not total system power consumption.
QUOTE(loonsave @ Mar 16 2017, 03:14 PM)
Kindly enlighten me SSD will get less base performance.

how about if I increase budget to 5k? Can go up to i7?
And the 8GB ram cost RM520?
*
Base performance is PC performance. SSD just improves load times.

520 is for X2. Forgot to update

5k can get you better stuffs and i7.

Core i7-7700 - 1378
Gigabyte B250M-HD3 - 409
Corsair 8GB DDR4-2133 x2 - 520
MSI GTX 1060 6GB DDR5 T OC - 1300
Samsung 850 Evo 250GB - 482
Seagate 1TB HDD - 212
Super Flower Leadex Gold 550W - 429
Corsair Spec (pick your model) case - 299

Hello, it is possible to build a rig that consist of GTX1060 and small case with the budget of 3k?

Not enough. Case and SFX PSU alone already at this price

Silverstone ML08B - 339
Silverstone SFX 500W - 490

Unless you are fine with Coolermaster Elite 130 case.

Hey there, I thought of doing an upgrade to my PC

[Budget] About RM 2000

[Purpose] gaming. recent AAA titles with ultra settings and min 60fps on 1080p
[Hardwares that will be re-use] PSU (550 W), HDD (1 tb), 2x ssd Monitor

[Monitor resolution] 1080p

[Games & softwares that use frequently] games. deus ex, witcher 3, battlefield 1, gta v, tomb raider, far cry

Current specs:

Intel Core I5 3470
2x 4 GB 1333 MHz DDR3
Asrock Z77E-ITX
r9 280x
planned for change gpu to gtx 1070. will it bottleneck my cpu a lot? if so what is an ideal upgrade for my current spec
*
You can get GTX1070 but i5 will bottleneck it. You gotta go for i7 or AMD Ryzen if you want GTX 1070.

So what is the best possible way of upgrading my pc. Will the bottlenecking will affect my pc performance a lot?
*
Look for second hand i7-3770. You can still go for GTX 1070 but it will bottleneck on certain games. I think most games should work fine though. Current generation CPUs needs you to change motherboard and RAM as well.

You should get something better. Getting the same thing is not worth it. Games gets more demanding over time.

GTX1060 6GB is around RM1300, GTX1070 can be found for around RM1750. I wouldn't pay topup that much for increased power consumption.

Yeah, and 1070 is faster than 980 Ti as well. Got people wanna trade or sell 1070 at Garage Sales.

Some people here who recommend an i7 7700 is kinda a joke.. or of course on intel payroll (not accusing anyone but this is a known intel tactic, they actually have shills).

get a Ryzen 1700. wait for mobos to restock.
AMDs new chips absolutely annihilates intel overpriced parts.

some will jump in and say "btut but but intel is faster for gaming".. yea.. with the scheduler issue (which is being sorted) the i7 is faster by what? 3 fps in some games?.. eg intel is 103fps, amd is 100fps (look at the numbers, the Ryzen chips can play ANY game at ultra quality at 80fps++) and we are talking 1080p. Higher res the Ryzen pulls ahead.
All other tasks, Ryzen goes circles around that i7.. this is a chip that compares to intels RM7000+ 6950X, just open skype and chrome with in background while gaming and see that 4core/8thread i7 struggle to keep consistent fps.
*
Like you said, motherboards. You are forgetting games that favor Intel.

You recommended an i7 7700. The ryzen is more than twice as fast for relatively same cost. Twice as fast man.
http://cpu.userbenchmark.com/Compare/Intel...1700/3887vs3917

How can that ever be a sane recommendation?
I was at lowyat plaza last weekend and MBs should be coming in any day now..

All consoles are running 8 core AMD chips and developers are taking multi-threading more seriously, Vulkan is getting foothold and considered as a serious alternative to DX (vulkan is good at multi-core scaling)... we are heading towards 1440p and 4k resolutions. The 7700 will struggle in less than a year.

And a guy who's ready to spend 5k on a PC, you tell him to buy a 7700? As in he needs the PC tonight and cant wait a week or so for AM4 motherboards to arrive?
*
LOL. Twice as fast. Dream on.

We look at price list everyday. There is still no budget motherboards available.

"We" ? whos we? the intel damage control team or the staff of some shop that sold out ryzen chips and trying to clear out dead-in-the-water overpriced intel stock?

Anyways.. to person with 5k budget or anyone else, don't ask for suggestions here only.. pls look online and search the web and make an informed decision.

Nighty night

Clearly you hate intel. What makes you think Intel damage control team is here? AMD has been providing crap for a decade.

And the CPU reviews has been provided as well. Synthetic benchmark never tells you the whole story. Real world does. Ryzen is great, only when budget motherboards arrives.

Hate? Nah I don't invest emotions in a company.

What I dislike is when people give wrong advise to others. Maybe when those giving advise don't know better, then no blame. But when they are an "Elite" who are clearly technically competent, then thats disturbing.

You say dream on when I say its double the speed? IT IS twice as fast, look at the multi-core scores, the Ryzen is 95% faster. Thats twice as fast.

It just makes absolutely no sense that one would invest in (or advice another) to get a 4c/8T overpriced CPU when an alternative that is the same price, twice as fast and far more future-proof is available.

It starts to make sense when you consider that intel has been caught red handed with dirty tactics and manipulation (and paid 1.2 billion after court ruling).

That is what makes me think Intel team is here. Some reviewers online (in US and elsewhere) had Intel call them and say "Email us before writing Ryzen reviewes"[1], they provided "Ryzen questions and how to answer them". Just absolutely disgusting.

This is a company that makes rigged compilers to favor their CPUs, it has been milking the world over new "generations" that are basically the exact same thing since sandy bridge. Now we finally have a viable alternative, an alternative that is not only cheaper but far superior, and yet you tell people to buy the i7 7700 and keep arguing with me over motherboards that will arrive in a week?

How can they not have shills here in the most popular tech forum in Malaysia?

[1] https://www.guru3d.com/news-story/intel-is-...zen-launch.html
*
Nice one dodging the fact that there is no budget motherboards available. And a week... Heard that before like weeks already. So you want people to buy Ryzen with expensive motherboard and using slower graphics cards?

And again, more cores doesn't always makes it faster.

Real world benchmarks is always the thing. Do you want me to spoonfeed you with tons of real world benchmarks again?

No, allow me, here's a side-to-side comparison of Ryzen 1700 vs i7 7700k (in games only):
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BXVIPo_qbc4&t=0s
Look at the fps.

Isn't it strange? When intel was faster, people quote benchmarks as viable, and disregard arguments that say "AMD is not as fast, but it plays games just as good".

Now the tide changed, AMD benchmark scores match and beat the most expensive i7s, but wait, the same people who used the argument above, flipped it! Now they say "look at real world, benchmarks dont matter."

Real world is EXACTLY my point.. but wait, Ryzen is not only faster in real world (and handles multi-tasking much better due to more cores), but its also faster than an i7 6900k in benchmarks too.

I watched all the reviews I need, and I encourage everyone to watch youtube vids from reputable unbiased people before deciding what to buy.

For the love of god people, you have your hard earned money, spend an hour or so to find out what to buy instead of asking here and having shops salesmen or corporate shills tell you what to buy.
*
So, that's only one you found. You are saying more than 10 press are biased?

Oh, overclocking comes at a price as well. More expensive motherboards and better heatsink....

So you want to tell someone with 5k budget to have those huh?

Thats another suspicious sign folks. You show mathematical logic with clear winning numbers, but they keep coming back with nonsense.

When cornered they write short replies with questions in confident language. For two reasons:
1. to waste time of those who try to show them for what they really are. And:
2. to fool the masses that their points have validity.

Yeah, getting rolled over again for at least the 3rd time. Make yourself useful and stop posting nonsense. Unless you want admins looking for you to use their "special" button.
