1TB version is TLC. DRAMless isn't really the issue these days. I have said it earlier. The controller supports HMB, which uses small amount of system RAM as it's memory.  doh.gif It only affects extremely high I/O scenario, which will not happen for TS's usage.

Nope, just google TPU database, and there are various parts used

Yes, there is TLC variant regardless. Paying RM30 more would yield you SN580 / SN5000 with TLC, though.
*
Harping on the possibility of getting the TLC part is like playing roulette and expecting you will win big 1st round. Only if your life is that extremely lucky.
Based on Kingston admission this family is built to BOM cost, your more than likely to hit a QLC version maybe with less crappy controller if your lucky. Those TLC are either meant for reviewers (who are giving it positive reviews) or same 1st batch of stock which is prolly gone past by now.

Hi sifus here, currently existing PC dying (using halfway and suddenly freeze) and in the market to look to build my next one. Appreciate if can recommend base on below criteria:

Budget: Around 3k
Re-used parts: Keyboard, mouse, monitor, speaker, wifi card. (Not sure can re-use: PSU, SSD, HDD)
Purpose of PC: Mainly for work (AutoCAD, light video editing), light gaming (Star Rail, Genshin)
Preferences: No RGB, case with small footprint (thinking iTX)

TLDR, need a work PC with as little fuss as possible.

Many thanks!!
*
For your budget, ITX is tough as your will pay the ITX tax. Anyhow I would suggest a budget around this build

R7 8700G
MPG B650I EDGE WIFI
2x 16GB 6000MHZ CL30 DDR5 (low profile non RGB)
(No GPU - use iGPU)
(No storage - reuse)
BeQuiet SFX L POWER 600W
Case ITX Lianli A4-H2O

Optional if you can get cheaper CPU+GPU combo
R5 7500F
GTX 1660 /Ti

Hello sifus,

looking for some advice regarding new pc, got a sample quote at idealtech pc builder website, not sure if anything missing that should be added?

is the setup ok or any parts should be replaced?

the pc will be for document works, some cad design, clips edit, some games (not heavy), should we consider intel/nvidia instead?

AMD Ryzen Processor: AMD RYZEN 5 7600 | RM 839
Motherboard (AMD): MSI B650M GAMING PLUS WIFI | RM 799
RAM: KINGSTON FURY Beast RGB EXPO 32GB  6000MHz DDR5 CL36 KF560C36BBEAK2-32 | RM 676
Graphic Card: Sapphire Pulse AMD Radeon RX9060XT Gaming OC 16GB DDR6 | RM 1799
PowerSupplyUnit (PSU): LIAN LI EDGE EG750 BLACK 80 PLUS GOLD - ATX 3.1 | RM 469
Case: LIANLI LANCOOL 207 ARGB Black | RM 339
SSD: Kingston KC3000 PCIE 4.0 NVME SSD SKC3000S 1TB | RM 499

Total: RM 5640
Discount: RM 220
Grand Total: RM 5420
Thanks for your valuable input
*
For mainly work purpose with side gaming, go with Intel as it has better stability.

Does it have to be idealtech or consider others ie sifu Myway or Tristanx... ? Location?

Alternatively;
i5 13400/14400
MSI Pro B760M-A Wifi (either DDR4 or DDR5 version can use whichever cheaper when combo with RAM below)
2x 16GB DDR4 3200 or DDR5 6000 (whichever cheaper when paired with mobo above)
Graphic Card: Sapphire Pulse AMD Radeon RX9060XT Gaming OC 16GB DDR6 | RM 1799
For PSU that Lianli Edge is an oddball but actually its quite worth for its RM419 as others are >RM500, otherwise Corsair RM750E
Case: LIANLI LANCOOL 207 ARGB Black | RM 339
SSD: Kingston KC3000 PCIE 4.0 NVME SSD SKC3000S 1TB | RM 499

i am just using the website for convenience to generate a list, i may go to local shop to ask for the parts availability, but i am in kuching, so the price may be more expensive compare to kl based shop, but no choice dont wanna risk shipping damage or stolen kind of thing, warranty pun susah...

for the motherboard, is the number like 5xx, 7xx important? usually i dont need fancy board just need stability.  notworthy.gif

i tot of buying something like thinkcenter and slap in a gpu but the psu maybe not enough power  hmm.gif and the proprietary parts maybe an issue in the future if wanna change something...
*
Yea Kuching will be a bit more hassle and limited, not sure which shops around there which is reputable. Some forumers have gone the prebuild gaming PC route due to warranty worries but these are RM 4-5k systems, maybe more.

For your build case, heres a few options depending on your local availability

DDR4 rig (get it sooner since DDR4 pricing going up & up)
i5 13400/14400
MSI Pro B760M-A Wifi DDR4 or Giga DS3H B760M
2x 16GB DDR4 3200
Whichever brand AMD Radeon RX9060XT Gaming OC 16GB DDR6 or else ARC B580 (if got)
750W PSU either; Corsair RM750E or else FSP Vita GD or 1st Player Steampunk or Coolermaster MWE V2/V3 Gold
LIANLI LANCOOL 206/ 207/ 216/ 217
SSD: Kingston KC3000 PCIE 4.0 NVME SSD SKC3000S 1TB or Adata S70 Blade 1TB

DDR5 rig
i5 13400/14400
MSI Pro B760M-A Wifi DDR5 or Asus Prime B760M-A Wifi
2x 16GB DDR5 6000
Whichever brand AMD Radeon RX9060XT Gaming OC 16GB DDR6 or else ARC B580 (if got)
750W PSU either; Corsair RM750E or else FSP Vita GD or 1st Player Steampunk or Coolermaster MWE V2/V3 Gold
LIANLI LANCOOL 206/ 207/ 216/ 217
SSD: Kingston KC3000 PCIE 4.0 NVME SSD SKC3000S 1TB or Adata S70 Blade 1TB

Hi Sifus. My dad wanted a new PC, replacing his old Celeron and i3 (Haswell) pre-build by Acer. He wanted a PC with GPU that can run Adobe applications such as Photoshop and Illustrator.

Can you guys suggest a build for that? His budget is <2100 without a monitor and other peripherals.

And maybe I will buy it at C-Zone Digital Mall, PJ.

What to buy:

CPU
m-ATX MOBO
m-ATX Casing
16GB RAM
GPU
PSU
M.2 1TB
<what else?>

Thanks!
*
Adobe likes Nvidia, so a GPU will help. But RM 2100 isnt a lot for todays hardware

If can up the budget try target to get at least below for sufficient usage:

i5-12400 + MSI pro b760m-E DDR5 - RM1003
Fury beast black DDR5 32gb (16x2) - RM380
Inno3D RTX 3050 6GB Twin X2 - 685
KC3000 ITB - RM360
FSB HV Pro 85+ 550w - RM170
Techware Fusion Air M2 - RM138

(Online prices and may vary)

Budget way too low, and if you are willing to go MacOS the M4 Mac Mini is actually quite a good deal (it's not much more than that budget) icon_idea.gif

The M4 is a much more efficient SoC than most x86 chips especially in terms of single threaded efficiency, and they are a good fit for content creation workloads icon_idea.gif

You do, however need to deal with expensive storage/memory upgrade prices sweat.gif

Mac, the ultimate BS proprietary hardware conjob of the century which actually got better when they went Intel route with self replaceable CPU, GPU, RAM & storage. Now back to their BS proprietary hardware route but this time charging you both kidneys just for a factory storage upgrade

TristanX

Just wanted to shout a Great Thanks to the both of you for helping me with a new office rig. I've bought all the parts during 7:7 and managed to get it up and running today.

Intel i5 12400 - RM506.44
MSI Pro B760M-E DDR5 - RM405.85
Kingston valueram 32gb (16x2) - RM389.46
Kingston KC3000 2tb - RM630.88
FSP HV Pro 85+ 550w - RM156.90
Techware Neo M2 Omni - RM122.04

Total RM2211.57

Made a leap to 2tb storage. Also went for Neo casing as the build will be placed below my desk. The placement of the on/off button and the usb slots made a huge impact on my decision.

Again, thank you both, I'm forever greatful for all your advice.

Thats a solid setup which will last you many years to come for your use. Its heartening to hear this appreciation. Just as I had help from sifus here when building my rig years ago, Im glad I could help you with yours. Paying forward the good deed will make the world a better place. thumbsup.gif

Hi shifus, i purchased RTX3060 a few years ago and i'm thinking about purchasing a new GPU for gaming and work purpose but im not sure which GPU to buy
Hope to get some suggestion
My budget is around RM2.5K to 3K
Currently my rig build looks like this:
Core i5-12400
MSI B760M-E
Kingston HyperX Fury Beast 16GB DDR4-3200 X2
Palit RTX 3060 12GB
Adata XPG SX8200 Pro 1TB
Corsair RM650 Plus or MSI A650GF
Jonsbo D41
*
RTX 5070 if you need Nvidia. Anytime will below RM 3k. If you can wait, 5070 Super with more VRAM will debut end year.

You didn't read my post correctly:
Self replaceable/upgradeable hardware means very little for most people on the Mac ecosystem especially when you consider that Apple Silicon will happily thrashes most x86 machines in terms of perf/watt sweat.gif
For them, it's a reasonable compromise (might not suit you, but most people are more than happy to trade that away) icon_idea.gif
Modern Intel/AMD chips aren't even on the same tier as the old M1, mind you sweat.gif
I know power efficiency isn't too much of an issue on desktops, but you get the idea icon_idea.gif
*
Fast CPU means nothing if you only have 256GB of storage space. Its like taik hidung with actually no option to upgrade since its all soldered in.

Colorful 5070 daily pricing is about there. At 1440P 5070 is slightly faster too. So its either go for higher VRAMS or better features (RT, DLSS4, MFG, DLAA, streaming, encoding CUDA)

Nice, that's a really good value card icon_idea.gif
Shame about the 12GB VRAM though, especially when you consider that the card is really perfect with 16GB VRAM (hopefully the upcoming 5070 Super can remedy this, assuming they get the price point right) icon_idea.gif
*
Pricing likely will be between 5070 and 5070TI but problem is theres about RM 1000 gap between them which is a huge margin if the Super will come in at higher point. Mind you the core doesnt get a boost so for games that dont rely on VRAM, there will be zero difference to regular 5070 which kinda sux pricing then.

And this is why i said nobody knows if their backdoor bios is really closed as there could be other backdoors. I bet there will be other backdoors still unfound yet.

Fix already out including end of life boards. Looks like they forgot to include AMI fix as well.

It shouldnt have happen when the bugfixes were omitted from newer bioses. Looks like theres a lot more hidden in Giga handling of firmware like Swiss cheese. It will remain as the brand of last resort to reco if theres no other choice.

This one u guess it. I don't think Gigabyte will miss it again. It hurts their sales when it happens. I dont cry about security issues knowing they will fix it. Nvidia, Intel and AMD still getting it.
*
I predicted it, and it did happen. And I predict it will happen again. cool2.gif

Security issues are bad because majority noob users dont know them and wont go seeking to patch them, unlike Windows updates bios patches arent always auto updated and the risk of bricking meant not everyone is comfy to do it. As a conscious user Im aware that I run an outdated bios (certain features got deleted later) because I know later versions are for other reasons and not to plug security holes. If there is another MeltdownSpectre bios patch then its my conscious whether to update or not but thats on me, not the mobo maker.

And then these security updates quite often reduce perf bangwall.gif

I've upgraded to 5700x, now looking for GPU (new and used unit), have few options on my list, which suits the best?

New:
1. RTX 5060 Ti 16GB
2. RX 9060 XT 16GB

Used:
1. RX 6700 XT 12GB
2. RX 6800 XT 16GB
3. RTX 4060 Ti 16GB

Thank you for your recommendation  thumbup.gif

Based on those listed; 5060TI is overall slightly faster than 9060xt

Sure, for RM400-500 more money. That spot is also occupied by 7800 XT.
*
5060Ti is newer, has better RT, more features (DLSS4, DLAA, MFG, etc), much lower power consumption and less heat output.

Since its within OP budget, then why not go for the best his budget can maximise.

Your PSU might need a bit more juice to handle the upgrade.
*
Up to that 5060TI & 9060XT, that PSU is well sufficient. But not enuff if go with 6800XT (AMD recos 700W PSU).
