Hi terence_nwb, my old gpu went kaput and need a replacement. Will buy from idealtech and currently looking at gtx-1050 but not sure which model to buy. Budget <RM850

My current rig:
I5 2400
Gigabyte z68a-d3-b3
PSU Cooler Master brand with 550w

Can this system support the 1050 gpu or is there any better option? Will not consider to upgrade whole rig for now.
*
There is GTX 1050 Ti around RM700

*
Check with Zotac on warranty terms. Some manufacturer are extremely strict.

what if i JUST put the paper on it? no glue or sticker attached.  hmm.gif

That shouldn't be a problem as it won't leave leftovers.

Hi guys,

I am thinking of upgrading my 2010 PC.
currently im using Athlon X2 635 and AEH5750 GPU. its OLD.
this OLD fellows allow me to have 60 fps dota 2 at 1080 mid setting.

I am thinking to upgrade to G4560, H110M and Zotac 1050 Mini.
the noob question is here,

How do I update bios of H110M to run G4560?
Will ETECH do the free update for me?
I will probably buy from ETECH based on price preferences.

Hope someone will answer me.
Its been 7 years since my last involvement in rig setup.
a lot of information in single thread. haha
*
You need to know your brand and exact motherboard model for BIOS update. Visit the manufacturer's website for it.\

best bang for the buck. thanks
*
Going 1440p with 144hz and 27" IPS panel already asking for not best bang for the buck. AMD not recommended for GTX 1070 or higher. It bottlenecks. RAM speed doesn't improve performance as much as CPU and GPU. So yeah, asking too much for this budget.

what about ssd??

Yes, RX 470 will cost more. RX 570 replaces RX 470. Yes, there will be increase of performance.

Adding SSD will increase the cost as well.

which one better performance in rendering 1700 with hdd or 1600 with ssd?

Would not recommend downgrading CPU for SSD. You can always add SSD later.

my future build will be something like this but change the monitor to Dell U2715H (aim for 60Hz 1440p gaming at ultra setting only).
May I know what is the difference between Samsung 960 and Samsung 850 for SSD? price almost double for the same size.. and a single 8gb ram enough for this build? Also the Mobo, will Gigabyte Z270-HD3 enough?
*
960 is M.2 version. 850 is SATA.

If you spend that much, go for 16GB. Eventually it will need that much.

Why do u recommend AMD Ryzen 5 1600 ? I understand that Core i5 7500 is much better processor....

Please advice on this....
*
6 core with multithreading (12 threads) vs 4 core 4 threads. Not even close.

http://www.techspot.com/review/1379-and-ryzen-5-1600x-1500x/

1600 is slightly slower than 1600X

Hi,

Starting out from scratch and wanted to see if it's possible to build a mini-ITX setup with a GTX1070 for ~7 - 7.5k, monitor, windows 10 OS and mouse + keyboard all included. Appreciate everyone's advice!

[Budget] ~7 - 7.5k

[Purpose] Gaming, HD Movies, some light office work from time to time

[Hardwares that will be re-use] Headphones, no speaker required

[Games & softwares that use frequently] AAA Games

[Personal preferences]
Fractal Design Node 304 Case
GTX1070 Card
Wireless adapter integrated to MOBO
1440p monitor, 25" or less
Windows 10 OS

[Location] KL

If price point is not feasible, might consider downgrading to a 1080p monitor.

Thanks in advance!
*
1440p is already a big chunk of your budget. How about these?

From Viewnet:
Core i7-7700 - 1399
Asrock H270M-ITX/ac - 549
Apacer 8GB DDR4-2133 X2 - 498

From C-Zone:
Zotac GTX 1070 8GB DDR5 Mini - 1999
Samsung 850 Evo 120GB - 286
WD Black 1TB 2.5" - 299
Super Flower Leadex Gold 550W - 429
Fractal Design Node 304 - 369
Dell U2515H 25" monitor - 1339
Logitech MK100 mouse and keyboard - 49

RM7167 total

You can find cheap OEM Windows 10 from lelong.

Thanks! Just a few more questions:

1. Realise you didn't include a CPU cooler. Is it not required with this build?
2. At this price point would it make sense to go with a 1080p monitor instead and spend more on other parts? If so, which monitor and which parts to swap out?
*
The CPU comes with cooler.

Thats up to you. Current build isn't overbudget. You can go for Dell U2417H at around RM1k if you wanna cut cost.

Spoke to viewnet salesman.. He said is true rayzen 1600 is faster than i5 7500 by 50% but in terms of stability Intel i5 750 wins.. I'm wondering now if he is telling me the truth.
*
QUOTE(petang makan maggi @ May 10 2017, 06:52 PM)
I don't own a Ryzen but that sounds like some typical pasar malam bullcrap.

On a side note, Ryzen isn't exactly 50% faster than an i5, it just having 50% more cores (and far more threads). If want compare performance, per core performance is more relevant, which I doubt Ryzen will be better than i5.
*
Dont listen to salesman. They are mostly dont know anything. Listen to people who actually owns it.

Again. Stability is not an issue.

Performance wise. Ryzen 5 1600 is slightly slower in some games, blows i5 away when it comes to heavy apps and some games.
