Hi all,

Currently trying to compare these 3 cars: Civic, Mazda 3 and the Altis. Can anyone comment?

1. Which one has less wind noise when driving on the highway?

2. Which one has a more comfortable ride when driving at highway speeds?

3. Which one is more composed / more stable at say around 150km/h? Can be stable until how many km/h?

4. Which one has a better throttle response in heavy traffic? Means like when step on the gas pedal, it moves instantly. No hesitation, no need to wait before it starts to move.

Thanks!

You have to find out yourself by test driving them individually, item 3 and 4 can be a little subjective. Why particular about item 4? Throttle jabbing and braking is stressing the engine, transmissions and brakes unnecessarily.

Please also consider the upcoming new Hyundai Elantra on your list.
*
For item 4, because if the throttle response is laggy, step on accelerator then only after 1-2 seconds only move, then it will feel unresponsive. In stop go traffic jams, this will lead to others cutting into my lane. Which also means I have to try to estimate how soon the car in front of me moves, so I can step on the accelerator earlier.

This is why I would prefer a more instantaneous throttle response.

Thank you for sharing information

If u need to face alot of traffic jam, better don get civic 1.5 tc, get 1.8 or other car, because tc isnt suitable for every day traffic jam ride, else u really need visit sc very often as the oil life drop like hell
And u guys front grill is matte black or kilat black?

Thanks very much for the advice.

Install throttle booster...improve a lot.

Seems like quite a number of brands on the market. Anyone you recommend?

I just scrolled through past 10 pages and seen so many problems.

steering creaking, dashboard rattle, water leaking, gps issue, brake pedal vibrating, cracked paint, dying battery, side mirror not unfolding, grinding gearbox.

Even a Proton does not have this many issues.

I'll be getting a Mazda 3 instead.

I think you are spot on. Agree with you. I test drove the Civic the other day and really liked how it drove. Powerful, smooth, can coast easily. So I wanted to find out how are other LYN forumers experience in this thread.

So far have found:

aircon leaking?
battery fails early, as soon as 5 months
cvt grinding sound on hot restart
burning smell when driving fast? someone said is from tires
rattling sound aircond vent area at driver side - window rubber / door rubber didnt place properly
centre display screen burnt
parts gapping - sometimes gap is too big
tilt sensor blinking
" I pressed the break pedal and want to start the engine. But instead of starting, it's cycling through the accessories and on state without starting. Had to release and press the break pedal again before it can start. Weird."
head unit need to reboot sometimes

Even quite a number of FC club members on facebook have a bunch of CVT issues. Gearbox replaced because of weird intermittent grinding sound during startup.

I will probably wait until Honda fixes all these issues first. Perhaps Honda's QC is dropping because they are rushing to fulfill a backlog of orders.

Civic 1.5t already in production for so many batches. By now the latest production all major problem should be resolve.

I hope you are right. I would like to buy a c-segment car at the end of this year and the Honda civic is my first choice as long as all its problems has been resolved. Hopefully it will last long and won't give CVT issues after the warranty is over because I usually keep my cars for 9-10 years.

Actually there is no car is perfect seriously, u guys say proton got no rattle sound here and there, u guys go see how tahan their part compare to honda seriously , they even spend more money to repair those part which will effect their drive  without changing those part,  while those rattle sound wont effect ur drive just effect ur heart and emotion only

Let say im using the battey kong in 5 month doesnt mean whole malaysia 50k unit civic is facing same problem too, just say it all about ur luck only, even u spend rm4k iphone might have minor problem right? If its big problem, i will be like the note7 which recall and stop production which is happen to volkwagen dry clutch car

It's true that no car is perfect. There are bound to be defects here and there.

I like to go look at LYN forum and compare the various car threads and read what the owners say. On some car threads, the owners have a lot more problems whereas on some other car threads, there aren't that many problems. Then we can get a feel as to what the build quality of the car is like. Whereas some car threads are just not active, possibly because that particular car just don't have much sales.

Right now I'm driving a CVT 2.0 car(Inspira). Curious to know how does this Civic performs at high speed, I mean like 180km/hr and above?
The one I have sucks at high speed. Nice at cruising speed but when speeding can hear unpleasant sounds and sometimes the gear selection is kind of lost but luckily the paddle shifters saves the day.
By the way sorry if I am late, apparently civic being recalled in the US.

What is the recall for? Do you have a link to the recall?
