Hi all,

Good news! (I hope smile.gif )

Honda has got the solution to the warm start grinding noise.

Here's the pdf file (This is my 1st time attaching a pdf file. Hope this works):-
Attached File  March_22__2017___CVT_Makes_a_Grinding_Noise_on_Hot_Restart.pdf ( 69.91k ) Number of downloads: 217

Print it out and bring it to your SC.

The downside is that our CVT transmission has got to be opened up for this fix. sad.gif

I agree.

Thought of the day:-
New batches will be using the new part(s).
So, transmission no need to disturb.

I think we just fwd this to Honda msia and let them study and work on this to solve these issues for both older batch owners and their current batches of cars.

That Service Bulletin was issued by Honda USA.
Don't know when Honda Malaysia will do the same for the local SCs.
But you're right. We just bring it to our SC attention so that they know that we know that a solution has been found. laugh.gif

Thanks for the link! Last I had was a Thailand owner replacing the whole CVT (updated design) to fix this issue. But at least now we know what exactly was the problem, and know that it has no impact on reliability. will use this info to update the first page.

I got that pdf file from http://www.civicx.com/threads/strange-soun...-74#post-167393
I think you are familiar with that forum.

At my recent service, I purposely arrived at the SC 45 minutes earlier, just so I can replicate that warm-start grinding sound. biggrin.gif
From the way the service advisor talked, I know that they are aware of this issue. He even mentioned "after 45 minutes". lol

My Civic got the grinding sound too. I want to get it fix.

They managed to solve the grinding issue? Can you share which SC you sent to? Thanks

Sorry, I think my earlier post was a bit vague.

No, the grinding sound issue is not fixed yet for my car.
I serviced my car before that Service Bulletin was issued.
So, no chance to show SC that info.

That bulletin was issued by Honda USA.
I don't know when Honda Malaysia will do the same.

Got such thing? Can't claim motor insurance?

I thought their third party insurance is to cover you in case accident

Yea, as long as they have 3rd party insurance then i should be able to claim from his insurance. But the police officer was like damn sure that cars can't claim motor's insurance. Probably cause normally motors dont get insurance? Not sure.. sweat.gif

Here's what I know about not being able to claim against a motorbike's insurance.
Please correct me if others know more about this.

GENERALLY, when a car is involved in an accident with a motorbike (or a pedestrian), the wrong party is assumed to be the car.
If go police station to report, the car will get a summon.
That's why the police officer said that the car cannot claim against the motorbike's insurance.
If the biker is a gentleman / gentlewoman and offers to settle, better to just accept it.

So, why the heck does a motorbike buy a 3rd party insurance cover?
I'm guessing it will be useful if the accident case escalates to the courts and the motorbiker loses the case. Then the insurance can cover the loss.
