I'm trying to reduce my dairy intake but I find I can't do without it in my morning coffee as I like the added creaminess.

Anyone taking dairy milk alternatives for coffee? If yes, what do you use? And if they're easily available at Aeon or Coldstorage (the two grocers near my place)

Thanks in advance for all tips and advice smile.gif

By "dairy" do you mean cow's milk only? if so, u can try goats milk.

There are nut milks eg almond milk, soy milk or oat milk but i don't find any of them creamy like cow's milk.

What about using only a touch of milk for your coffee?

I no longer drink cow's milk like i used to and am now used to it, but i don't mind some milk in a coffee or occasional ice-cream.

I'm doing this at the moment. Just milk in coffee. I've never tried nut milks. Seeing their texture in images doesn't make me feel like drinking them haha biggrin.gif

Hmm.. no problem at the moment. At least not confirmed. Just wanna test out if milk is what's causing a health related thing I have at the moment.

Try butter in coffee. I am not trolling. Tasted smooth. I like it. But it does not fit into my macros.

Nice to have a few options to consider. I like the butter one as I like coffee that's been roasted with butter (kopi char po style)

Take protein drink in the morning to replace coffee

Was this something you did too? I'm quite dependent on my morning coffee so wondering how this will affect my day, haha.

Yes, I am taking this protein drink. It has a very nice coffee fragrant smell. If you like coffee, you will definitely love this drink. Sent a PM to your inbox.  tongue.gif

Hmm, is it just coffee smell? I'm more concerned about the switch from coffee to this drink as I'm dependent on having a bit of caffeine in the morning to kickstart the day. I've tried going without coffee for a day and ended up with a headache the entire day :/ Maybe it's psychological that taking coffee in the morning is part of my morning routine.

There are so many non-dairy milk options available - soy milk would make a good alternative for dairy milk. May take you a while to get used to the taste (it's all in your brain).

Other options such as almond milk, hazelnut milk, rice milk, oat milk etc. All can be found in Aeon and Cold Storage definitely!

ps: good decision to avoid dairy intake!!! nod.gif

If milk confirm to be the problem for your health then avoiding dairy is the best.
Not all human can digest animal milk. The main problem are the protein call casein. I am lactose intolerant so I try to avoid or eat less. Not only milk, butter, cheese and food with milk added in it.
I envied that you can drink coffee because I can't take caffeine anymore.

I heard the same thing too! That's why I avoid dairy milk and replaced with non dairy milk. I even drink lesser coffee nowadays to reduce caffeine intake.

So how did you find out you are lactose intolerant? Are you avoiding all dairy products? Or just reducing?

Since I was little, I can't drink animal milk, i'll get sick with gas bloated stomach xtreme constipation most of the time.
Eating too much of gluten also cause me the same symptoms.
I op for soya milk, I don't fancy cheese but it's difficult for me not to eat butter. Eating out is a big problem too.

The best solution for me is eat less but eat more on food or drinks that contain good bacteria like Lactobacillus,
my favorite choice is fermented food and kimchi and sometimes cultured milk like vitagen so that it'll
help to boost up my digest system.

Caffeine problem was due to my acid reflux problem but it has gone because I totally cut off coffee

It must be difficult being limited to food choice. Are you the only one in your family who is lactose intolerance? Gluten too? Yes, must be difficult to eat out as you probably don't know what do they prepare in the meal.

I just chose stopped drinking dairy milk - not that I am lactose intolerance. I didn't know cultured milk is fine since it's also a type of milk.

It used to be difficult but I have get used to the limitation simply because I am not not a fussy eater, I can accept a regular simple meal with
just vegetables soup and rice.
It runs in the family. I have a Schizophrenia brother, it's autistic related. It runs in the family, my son is autistic too.
Gluten and casein are the 2 that causing more problem for autistic than good.
Since I'm not specific on craving I can control but sometimes cheat Abit to taste because my husband is a giant eater. He will
Goes mad if I ask him to a control his eating, so it's just me and my son controlling our diet.
My son is totally cut off from animal milk, only stick to soya milk. . I diy my own kimchi in a big container.
If you do not want culture milk you can always eat kimchi but it's heaty just be sure to drink a lot of water.

With just vegetable soup & rice? Are you a vegetarian? I thought you're lactose intolerance but meat too?

At least you'd look after your son diet, but must be difficult for a kid especially friends around him may not understand the situation.

I'm not vegetarian but I'm ok with it regularly. Not fussy type la ^^.
My son not fussy also, likes vegetables too. For meat part mostly I just cook it with soup or fried vegetables with it without marinate it. Never use ajinomoto, only organic rock salt. Kid loves fast food once a while few bites I let him.
Wish I can cut off 100% but it's very diff to control outside food unless 24/7 cook myself.
He likes to mix with others just that he do not know how to express it, so every tiny step have to teach him. He is fine so far, I'm proud of him but needs to keep observing him daily.

Love it with soy milk too although I've reduced coffee intake! Any non-dairy milk is definitely better than dairy milk. And can be easily found anywhere though.

Actually my policy is take everything moderate or lesser because it really hard to cutoff lots of food since
we are not living in a cavemen world where we tanam sayur, bela ayam itik .....our own.
We can control certain food but not everything.
There are certain people really want to adapt back the previous world by not having wifi, tv, refrigerator, tanam sayur ....etc...but its extremely difficult to cut off everything. Same goes to people that do not want to vacine their children but with food these days, environment, the air we breath and technology, its impossible to keep everything at bay.

It's good that you decided to eat healthy. I would suggest you try diy cook meat in soup or any kind but not marinate it, steam it plain with adding ginger or spring onions as aroma or something ^^ plain taste but healthy
