QUOTE(GnomeMage @ Feb 23 2017, 09:34 AM) There have been footballers who have retired and could clock in respectable times in a marathon (I read Dwight Yorke ran a full marathon and still could party at a club the same night). Even referees are known to have done that, and they are certainly less fit than the professional players that they oversee.I think it should be reasonable to say that athletes might finish the marathon faster, but soldiers can do it for a longer period... while carrying a full pack. |

for me, considering the stress level, environment in which they operate/compete, the demand of achieving the required objectives, etc.. i think SF people is an all-rounder.
like other's mentioned, both athlete and SF are trained for different purpose. and both are effective in their own right. |

Kalau TS ask ini misti pasal piap piap endurance, since common-sense SF are all-rounded and better in any type of physical endurance.
If you must know, piappiap endurance varies from men to men, no legit answer. |

Reminds me of a scene in Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six when they were guarding the marathon, one of the guys was thinking if they could beat these athletes, but someone else said why would they ever run that far? To get to the battle scene? It made far better sense, he thought, to come to battle in a helicopter.

for SF they are trained to stay there even in pain or possible death.
can an athlete do the same ? very few have , gone were the old days where footballers still played even with a broken bone. if youre thinking which is fitter imo footballer / f1 driver is much more fit. they have the state of the art sport science facility with scrutinized diet and workout, even some have an oxygen tank to sleep at home. |

I loled at those mentioning marathon as something athletes could probably do better than SF. You get those athletes to wear the same gears as those SF guys and try to run a marathon and see.
Provided athletes can probably cover more mileage compared to SF guys in the first 20km. But if the journey was to make it to a destination 80km away and involves jungle trekking, hiking, river crossing , etc. Then you would see that SF would be the first to reach the destination. It is also worth noting, they have very different level of motivation and mental strength to begin with. You have one group who goes out to do what they do best knowing they would come home richer and provide for their family and you have the other group who goes out doing what they do best not knowing if they would ever come home , for their family and country. Two very different group of people. |
