QUOTE(estara @ Apr 12 2007, 12:39 AM)
Yes that's what I meant - that I get the snow effect only when talking on the phone. Coz some people said they can't get the snow effect when they close the flip.

And yes mine's an AP set. So AP set can't update? I got thru all the way until it said there's no update.
*
Maybe there's still no update for the region your phone originated from?

Mine is R1GB001. When I check, it says that it's the latest one. Is it true?
*
R1JG001 is the latest. Try sending it to a service centre if SEUS update fails.

cry.gif Still can't upgrade. I tried and again it says no updates available but what I have currently is not the latest firmware I know. Did I do something wrong somewhere??? Hmm.....
*
A last resort would be to send it to a service centre and have them flash it for you, at a fee of course if yours is not Ori. smile.gif

can u guys tell me what can the new firm ware do that d old 1 cant?
*
Just used it a few days before I sold off my Z610i.

Differences I noticed are as panasonic88 posted above, faster menu navigation, composing of SMS is faster, and the default theme's animation's smoother. tongue.gif

I don't think it will get loose easily, as it's among one of the sturdiest built SE phone I've used. smile.gif

QUOTE(estara @ Apr 21 2007, 03:33 PM)
Hmm...so do I need to take out the sim card and battery and then replace the battery before plugging the usb to the pc? I read the instructions on SE site and I followed that but I can't seem to upgrade. I tried twice already. Am i the only one who couldn't upgrade? hmm.gif
*
No you don't have to remove the SIM card.

Just remove the battery and put it back into the phone.

Thereafter, insert one end of your USB cable into your PC, and another end into your phone while at the same time pressing on the 'C' button until SEUS recognizes your phone.

Then you can release the 'C' button and let the update run by itself.

i can't seem to change the writing language of my phone like i used to. what happened and how do i cure that problem? =/
*
Perhaps your firmware's corrupted.

Try bringing it to a service centre and have them check it out.

Most probably a reflash of the firmware will solve the problem. smile.gif

Oh now I remember. If there's an 'i' in Z610i then it also means one has Chinese writing feature inside I think.
*
The 'i' denotes that it's the International version of the Z610, and whether or not it has Chinese, depends on the firmware.

You can find non-Chinese enabled Z610i's from Europe, and Chinese enabled Z610i's from South East Asia. smile.gif

will it be the same, and will i loose all my datas?
*
Ori sets, you get to reflash your firmware FOC at any SE service centres.

And yes it's advisable to backup your data before sending it in for a firmware update.

But I thought I read in this thread somewhere that the datas will not be lost?

Butterflydarling Someone here said there's an SE serv center in Amcorp Mall. You can go there.
*
Everytime I upgrade my firmware, my data's intact.

But to safeguard against unforseen circumstances, it's best to backup your data, and not blame anyone if anything goes wrong in the process. So, just to be on the safe side, backup your data.

That's should be the firmware bug. Not phone problem.
*
Could be the battery problem as well.

I once faced the same problem on another phone and problem was rectified when the battery was swapped with a new one.

oh ya guys..i want to ask..the phone rite..if the flip thingy gets loose, can tighten it ?

IIANM you can opt to change the hinge, but it's not covered under the warranty.

Try sending it to a service centre and ask them. Who knows, it might be under warranty after all! biggrin.gif

If it's loose, they got to change the whole hinge.

AFAIK you cannot just tighten it.
