Hi all,

I would like to share my experience with this Marble contractor.

Problem 1#
Existing 2x2 tiles keep popping out randomly through out my living hall, dining room and 1st floor rooms after 2-4 years.

Problem 2#
Existing 2x2 tiles have an unremovable staineless steel kitchen cabinet sit on top of the tiles.

Problem 3#
1st floor have staircase handrail sit on top of my existing tiles.

Problem 4#
1st floor bathroom have glass door with exact fitting on top of the existing tiles.

Problem 5#
Only minimal paint job will be done after the flooring works.

Solution 1#
Hack all the current 2x2 tiles and also the cement underneath. Change all the 2x2 tiles to white broken marble.

Solution 2#
Cut the tiles surrounding the unremovable stainless steel kitchen cabinet. This is to avoid the damage to the kitchen cabinet. Then lay the broken marble next to the existings tiles. Then, lay the marble skirting on top of the existing tiles and broken marble surrounding the kitchen cabinet to cover the existing leftover 2x2 tiles. (Great WORK)

Solution 3#
Hack all the current 2x2 tiles but not the cement underneath for 1st floor. Due to this, the floor will raised up about 1.5 inch. I'll have to cut the room wooden door.

Solution 4#
Hack the tiles and only the cement underneath the glass door to maintain the same flooring height to avoid cutting of the glass door.

Solution 5#
The contractor apply white cements to all of the skirting and clean as much as possible after each day of work.

Overall, they did a very good job and the contractor is very responsive and responsible through out the whole progress of the flooring works. thumbup.gif
They will clean up their working place everyday before leaving and left no rubbish behind. They work very efficiently as well, each one of the sifu will know what to do and they will take turn with their works with each other to avoid over fatique especially during the hacking part. The result of their works is very nice. Let the pictures speak.

Very nice. Kitchen tiles using marble have to be careful about stains and unseen water spills. I nearly do split before when someone spill water. Good to have anti slip cloth around and floor cloth handy and ready for such situations.

Yes. There is no separate floor dividing the dining room and kitchen, so I need to use extra precaution in kitchen. Thanks for the advice.

If you've elderly in the home and say one of them is always rajin mopping....communication is crucial. Better get one of those slippery floor triangle. I've known of friends who's family members esp elderly parents who broke their hip because one spouse clean-up as usual but the other didn't realize. I dislike use of marble flooring in kitchen for this reason.
