PenangFon are currently providing users with SHARED IP !!!
Means if eg:111.101.222 are assigned for location Taman A... then all the user in that Taman A will have exactly same IP and eg:111.101.333 are assigned for location Taman B... then all the user in that Taman B will have exactly the same IP too... If Taman A have 100 users and 1 out of the 100 user are banned from some website means other user are BANNED too. |

Anybody read this:
QUOTE(dusterio @ Oct 5 2010, 09:35 PM) I got my SentralFon broadband today in Bangsar. http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/862646/+360#The package is called 10 Mbps but you get 10 Mbps only with their own web server All non-WWW traffic is throttled to 20-30 Kb/s, including FTP, VPN and mail. What's the sense of having 10 Mbps if you cannot use even 2 Mbps out of that? Moreover, even WWW traffic goes through their caching proxy So don't expect privacy or confidentiality Anybody knows fast providers in KL/Bangsar that don't throttle non-WWW services? I also got info from Optics technician that they have 5Mbps package for RM110. Send 2 mails to them, but no answer back and TM Unifi "knocking on the door" next month with speed 5,10&20 Mbps....... Guys! Do you know if PenangFon has coverage in Krystal Heights in Greenlane? The lane is Lintang Delima 14.
Another thing, PenangFon provides shared IP? All user from that area shares the same IP? So if one guy downloads on megaupload, I can't download from megaupload at the same time? |

QUOTE(jackx2 @ Dec 12 2010, 09:52 PM) yes is very slow .............. by the way anyone know y they implement using pppoe...................................... prevent service usage abuse.. back then when they were using DHCP.. anyone can just plug the cable in and get connected without any sort of verification.. there's actually more than just this issue |

I am still using DHCP mode on PenangFon. Actually I was told by the technician to use PPPOE with login. But I didn't bother to use PPPOE. Staying at Mutiara Heights, Jelutong.
Today the connection is pretty bad. I wonder why. |

Better start to use PPPOE with login, because maybe somebody share your internet connection (for free).

Hi,
I'm using a prolink router and connect through wireless, but I keep getting IP conflict error. Is there any settings I need to do on my router? The PenangFon told me to use PPPOE None on my router (there're 3 PPPOE options in my router: PPPOE VC Mux, PPPOE LLC, and PPPOE None). Thanks. |
