QUOTE(isr25 @ Oct 1 2019, 09:08 AM) I forgot to answer this question. No, it won't go to RM4-5/litre Assuming that the tax element remains the same, and the exchange rate is USD1 = MYR4.19 | MOPS95 Price/Barrel | RON95 Price/Litre | RON97 Price/Litre | | USD80 | RM2.46 | RM2.76 | | USD85 | RM2.59 | RM2.89 | | USD90 | RM2.72 | RM3.02 | | USD95 | RM2.85 | RM3.15 | | USD100 | RM2.99 | RM3.29 | | USD105 | RM3.12 | RM3.42 | | USD110 | RM3.25 | RM3.55 |
Very well presented. Thanks for the effort.

QUOTE(isr25 @ Feb 6 2020, 01:34 PM) Calculation and table of estimated price can be found at this link: https://goo.gl/cpYiBNIf calculating 30/1 to 5/2 cycle (Thursday to Wednesday - weekends are using Friday prices), RON95 should be around RM2.04, and RON97 should be around RM2.34. My estimate is RON95 will go down by 4 sen to RM2.04 and RON97 will go down by 7 sen to RM2.34 (±1 sen). Not all heroes wear cape. Some calculates petrol price. Thanks.

QUOTE(Roy5198 @ Feb 13 2020, 09:56 PM) Thanks TS as usual for the timely update Just wondering which brand of RON97 that most are using here? Myself previously were using BHP up until I realised that Caltex with Techron gives the smoothest acceleration & quiet idling despite not having the best of fuel consumption reading as compare to the former. Petronas my all timer. Have not tried others except Shell.

QUOTE(isr25 @ Mar 5 2020, 08:52 AM) Calculation and table of estimated price can be found at this link: https://goo.gl/cpYiBNIf calculating 27/2 to 4/3 cycle (Thursday to Wednesday - weekends are using Friday prices), RON95 should be around RM1.89, and RON97 should be around RM2.19. My estimate is RON95 will go down by 19 sen to RM1.89 and RON97 will go down by 21 sen to RM2.19 (±1 sen). RON95 dipped past the RM2 mark after a long time! Hooray

QUOTE(dinozilla @ Mar 5 2020, 10:16 PM) https://www.thestar.com.my/news/nation/2020...-by-over-10-senCaption from part of the news Khairul Annuar urged Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin to either maintain the current pump prices or for prices changes to be limited at two sen until a suitable mechanism that benefited all parties is put in place. I won’t be that mad if he also ask to minimize the increase of petrol price when it’s + more than 2cents... bugger dealer... Exactly man. But I've actually given this situation a thought. Not sure if this is what they're experiencing. Laymen terms ahead. Scenario 1: Petrol price drops from RM2.10 to RM1.95 effective 7th MarchLet's say station refueled their tank on 5th March at market price of RM2.10 minus the profit margin. 6th March government announce price drop and they have 10s of thousands litre of petrol sitting in their tank. Consumer knowing price will drop so they wait until 7th March and refuel their car, which technically means the station had to sell their RM2.10 fuel to consumer at RM1.95 starting 7th March, which means RM0.15 of loss per litre. Scenario 2: Petrol price increase from RM2.10 to RM2.25 effective 7th MarchLet's say station refueled their tank on 5th March at market price of RM2.10 minus the profit margin. 6th March government announce price hike and every single person in Malaysia rushed to the petrol station and refuel their car to the brim before midnight. Past midnight and station had no more fuel left and had to repurchase their fuel at RM2.25 which effectively means they did not make any money from the price gain.

QUOTE(jamespaul @ Mar 6 2020, 10:19 AM) How many Malaysians track petrol prices on the weekly basis? It's common for the price increase / decrease to show up on their social media eg from news portal or word of mouth, especially when there's a significant hike / drop. That's why its not uncommon for you to see a huge crowd at refueling station when price is going up by 10 cents. This post has been edited by budang: Mar 6 2020, 10:35 AM

QUOTE(isr25 @ Mar 16 2020, 07:58 AM) Calculation and table of estimated prices can be found at this link: https://goo.gl/cpYiBNSharing with everyone the petrol price as of 15/3 - RON95 should be RM1.40 and RON97 traditionally should be RM1.70. If we follow the previous Automatic Pricing Mechanism and Sales Tax Act, the government is allowed to "tax" us higher by 58.62sen per litre for petrol products sold. As of now, the government is taxing us roughly 42 sen for RON95 and 40 sen for RON97. Pay back time for rakyat to the government : P

QUOTE(2k20 @ Apr 9 2020, 08:28 AM) Any idea what the fuel price is going to be tomorrow? Will it increase or decrease slightly? Personal estimation, RON95 will decrease 4-5 cents this week, so it will be RM1.25/L +-1cents. As usual, pure guessing, don't shoot me. This post has been edited by budang: Apr 9 2020, 12:25 PM

QUOTE(2k20 @ Apr 9 2020, 01:37 PM) So you believe the government will reduce the tax amount for tomorrow's price? Any reason why? The government has been following market fuel price to determine the price you pay at the pump with a ceiling of RM2.08/L for ron95. By right we should be paying the market price now but PDAM has been exceptionally vocal recently and government has since been decreasing the petrol price gradually to minimize the impact. I believe the government will still tax us maybe 15-20cents per liter even if the market price falls below RM1. Hence, I think the lowest pump price we will ever see should be around RM1.15 - RM1.2 in the next few weeks.

QUOTE(2k20 @ Apr 9 2020, 04:56 PM) Question is. Should we fill up before tomorrow 5pm or not? Also, when the new price is announced at 5pm, do the price change take effect immediately? 12am / Saturday only take effect. Not 5pm.
