Actually, there is no issue.

when fuel prices comes down, be it weekly or daily or even hoursly. you will make losses

when fuel prices goes up, be it weekly or daily, you will make gains

they should not complain as most people are willing to make losses if there is a chance of making gains

It’s just because a group who can’t live on their own...
Too much of Malaysian business associations into protective business model rather than competitive 1, hence the drama u seeing today.
But of coz if we are to refuse them for having floor price, is the people ready for no ceiling?
It’s all up to the mentality of ppl...be it personal or business...

Calculation and table of estimated prices can be found at this link: https://goo.gl/cpYiBN

If calculating 5/3 to 11/3 cycle (Thursday to Wednesday - weekends are using Friday prices), my estimate is both RON95 & RON97 will go down by 16 sen to RM1.73 and RM2.03 respectively (±1 sen).

According to my historical records, last time RON95 was priced similarly was October 2016 at RM1.70/l - just when I started estimating the fuel price. In Sep 2016, RON97 was priced at RM2.05.

At current daily prices of RM1.5X, we have to go back to May 2005 - RON97 was RM1.52 and RON92 was RM1.58. There was no RON95 during this time as it was introduced in May 2009.

if the price continues to collapse like this week and if our $$ don give up too much...we may see that coming...

I’m sure everyone here is aware why the correct prices are not adjusted. I sort of expected this to happen.
*
Well expected, but not this soon and this way...
I am more like expecting they later agree on some floor price like 1.50 or 1.60, in between will be market driven
But looks like they will have their own rules to set with now
Not sure how they gonna game it now, and for sure no transparency there for now

Yup. That quote right there says it all. It's a nice way of saying what we all know to be true. PDAM made noise, they listened.
*
When petrol price go too high, gov listen, ceiling set to 2.08
when petrol price go too low, gov listen, falling price slow down...

fair enough...lol

Yes, they capped Ron95 but not others.
*
nah...if they not cap others, RON97 should drop more...
we are now into a new moment with new "PN" formula...which no one knows yet...
my biggest fear now is...
the moment the war over....and price recovering...
the biz start to make excuse to rise again...its the last bullet to kill everything

Calculation and table of estimated prices can be found at this link: https://goo.gl/cpYiBN

If calculating 12/3 to 18/3 cycle (Thursday to Wednesday - weekends are using Friday prices), the actual retail price for RON95 & RON97 should be RM1.31 and RM1.61 respectively (±1 sen).

If we follow the previous Automatic Pricing Mechanism and Sales Tax Act, the government is allowed to "tax" us higher by 58.62sen per litre for petrol products sold.

lets do guessing game given its steer off now...
last week should be on 1.73 but they only make it to 1.82...
given this week the actual should be further down to 1.31 (-0.51), I am giving it lowest 1.60

Thanks bro...but judging from how they reduce the lowering...I bet we won't see anything below 1.3 right? hehe

QUOTE(Lone Wolf X @ Apr 2 2020, 03:40 PM)
The Sales Tax (Rate of Tax) Order 2018 which was published on the 29 August 2018,
has set the tax rate for petrol at 60 cents per liter and diesel at 40 cents per liter.
This rate is stated on page 56 & 57 of the order as per document attached.
This is not withstanding any relief given by the government from time to time.
*
so means by law they can tax up to 60c/l for petrol right?

This one last week's news

Now im waiting to see if the gov will maintain their "tax amount" by increasing fuel price or reduce the "tax amount" by maintaining fuel price
From isr25's calculation, petrol price without the "tax" is expected to go up 3 cents for the coming week
*
week to week trend...we should see +3cents...
lets hope the gov make us wrong thinking about them...

Personal estimation, RON95 will decrease 3-4 cents this week, so it will be RM1.21 / RM1.22 per litre

As usual, pure guessing, don't shoot me.

Yup, I feel the same - no longer accurate as Govt determines the price now. It can go up, it can go down. The only thing is they are allowed to tax us 60 sen, so around 1.50 max price?

Since oil is cheap now, enjoy everyone while it lasts!
*
yea....but thanks a lot for your effort anyway...
and its still good to have.. at least we know how much the "new" gov "tax" us anyway...for comparison...
