My specs with Hoya lenses had lots of scratches even though salesperson told me these are quality products and tough resistance to scratches.
Now I only opt for normal lenses. This post has been edited by Xccess: Feb 21 2017, 12:18 AM |

QUOTE(alwinnng @ Feb 21 2017, 12:44 AM) Hoya not bad for blue light reduction Hoya ones last in around 6 months. Wanted the zeiss driving lens but shop say the coating will drop off over time.. Last time can tell people I use Hoya Lenses one, see my shiny blue reflective lens. After constant washing every 4-5 days with liquid soap, not so reflective as it used to be Ooh yeah the lens starts to show signs of dust particles scratching too. Still wearing it, doctor say eyes vision maintained in 2 years considered quite good for me edi. |

LoL
I never heard essilor until I got recommended to use once. This shit coating eat off like crazy. Then they told me don't use soap this that to wash. I said last time I use hoya, I wash with soap, shampoo also no coating problem. Only calar. Now try Zeiss, also calar only... no coating problem. |

Hoya lens sux.
lens not really durable, coating worn off fast. not scratch resistance as they claim. after 2 years the lens tends to turn yellowish. |

QUOTE(DarkNite @ Feb 21 2017, 07:18 AM) Thanks for the confirmation. My first hoya 20 years ago was quite godly. Stepped on it on a beach, washed with all kind of imaginable soap n shampoo but coating still fine. I tried Essilor on a friend's recommendation and it is definitely worse than hoya since it took less than 2 years to destroy the coating beyond use. Now with Zeiss, good care, no coating problem but scratch like crazy. I thot I was the only one complaining about Hoya lens. Many decades ago Hoya quality control is good now sux to the max! Personally I'm thinking going back to hoya for a try. This post has been edited by andrekua2: Feb 21 2017, 07:23 AM |

QUOTE(advocado @ Feb 21 2017, 12:03 PM) did you opt for their scratch resistance lenses? because all they do is actually add a coat of so called "Anti Scratch" coating on top of the lens. The salesperson told me it's scratch resistance, anyway already changed a new one weeks ago. Can't take glass lenses due to weight, hate it when glasses kept slipping down nose bridge.when it's new it's pretty good, however after few years the coating starts to come off and you get those "scratches" & "fogs". the more often you clean the glasses the faster they come off. so i only use non-coating lenses. if you want scratch free, go for glasses but they are heavier & more expensive & fragile. but they offer the best clarity compared to plastic which would also turn yellow over time but you won't notice it just cosmetics. |

QUOTE(win7 @ Feb 21 2017, 12:02 AM) I am using Hoya transitional lenses in my new pair of Oakley Titanium prescription frames. So far it’s holding up quite well except that it doesn’t really tint that well when I am inside my car or near the windows. It is also quite scratch resistant compared to my older Carl Zeiss photochromic lenses in my older pair of Oakley titanium Frames. But then Carl Zeiss photochromic lenses get dark faster and also is more sensitive to even light streaming in from the windows. |

Used Crizal lens for my previous pair, after 2years the coating came off and the scratch-proof not really significant. i did Hoya lens with my tom ford frame it cost me around 2k+ but so far so good..
