How to get rid of mid table mentality when in reality the players have mid table quality only?

Sakho's inclusion might help but the whole defensive unit (gk+rb+cb+lb+dm) has to improve in any case. A team can't always be averaging close to conceding 1.25 goals a game and expect to challenge for the title.

conceding lots of goals is not simply a back 5 issue. often its about the lack of support from midfield, or organisation at set pieces.

Right, so it doesn't come down to one player. That's all i'm saying.

I dont blame him for not passing. But seriously, how hard can it be to pass the ball into an open goal from 40 yards out? It's not like he was at a difficult angle, the goal was straight ahead of him. Facepalm.jpg

Mignolet cycle:

Early in the season: made silly error over n over. Everyone crying for a new gk.

Towards the end: keep making crucial saves. Keep his no1 spot for next season

Repeat.
*
I dont remember any errors from Migs in the early part of the season. If there was any, not anything that cost the team points.

Dont count chickens yet la. Not like the GD is a big difference over them. Only 5 goals in it and they got 2 games in hand. If they can beat the leaders, who's to say that they cant beat Spurs, City and Arsenal too.

Anyway, moot point. Still gotta take care of bottom half teams that we have struggled with this season.

Top 4 still isn't in our hands anyway even if we win all our remaining games isn't it? Still depends on that Arsenal-Utd or each of their own game in hand hmm.gif

Arsenal games in hand: vs Southampton (A) - 10 May, vs Sunderland (H) - 16 May
City game in hand: vs WBA (H) - 16 May
Utd game in hand: vs Southampton (A) - 17 May

Lineup that looks like these :

New Striker
Coutinho - Firmino - Mane

*
I doubt this lineup will materialize. His favourite boy Lallana has to start icon_idea.gif

Actually only when Wanyama plays the holding role u can count them as 2 at the back. When Dier plays, he naturally drop off and join the CB's. And the nature of their FB is that of WB, combined with the nominal attackers.

But my point still stand right? 2 defensive minded CM for a team parking bus is too much, so no problem if we revert to Klopp's ex favourite 4-2-3-1 and Lallana still wont miss out.
*
That would mean Lallana will be playing in a much deeper position. Will he affect the games as much as he does by playing there?

Anyway, still a moot point as of now. Season not even over yet tongue.gif

The team should just lose both games and everyone's expectations here will come true.

this only applies to 2018/9 though. If we finish fourth this season, our champs league campaign could last all of 2 matches in the 3rd qualifying round.
*
so better hope for arsenal and city to lose in midweek and then we win the last game so that can finish top 3 and problem solved! icon_idea.gif

After this morning result, we indeed are better than Manchester United, they have much better players depth  , they have more money to buy players & they even have a Special One to manage them.

For once we can end the season above our fierce rival on the BPL table , mission accomplish.

After all we are better than them now , this is a fact.

How many seasons we were behind them ?
*
But then outsiders will look back at the facts of 2016-17 season that LFC has no trophies but MUFC will have 1...or possibly 2.
