got my MXQ pro+ yesterday, not bad for box that price...

only lagging is my internet speed... currently on streamyx 8mbps...

Do you also require HD Audio passthrough? Connecting to ana AVR or just plug hdmi into TV port and that's it?

I have successfully boot into LibreElec. LibreElec performs really well. The interface is fast and responsive. CEC works well although my flirc works better. All the problems i had with Android is gone which means, the official Android OS provided by khadas team sucks. In fact it is useless. So many bugs.

Another thing is, Android on large screen tv is useless. You have to use Android TV for that. Lots of apps requires touch. Lots of apps required missing libraries(you can install but you cant play).

Compared to my full blown htpc, s905x is not suitable for multitask. Eg, dont play movie and scrape in background. Not really a problem cause you can scrape while you sleep, just something good to know.

So far, good purchase. Just ditch the android os or any other os khadas team manage to pull out of their ass and go with libreelec or other community supported os. For a device that performs well like my htpc(save multitask), this bad boy is well worth the price.

My plan right now is
1. Have latest android on emmc.
2. Boot libreelec from sdcard.
3. Have libreelec store all libreelec data(scrape data, poster etc) on emmc.

While you can install libreelec on emmc, multiple developer suggest that to install android(official) on emmc, boot libreelec from sdcard. The only difference between my plan setup and installing libreelec on emmc is the boot time. installing libreelec on emmc have faster boot time. I can live with a bit slower boot time as i plan to let it on for 24hours.

If any of you guys have bought khadas vim, i can give you tips to get your device up and running faster.

mind share the link of the seller you bought the unit from? I notice there is a few different spec on lazada. The model is same box is same but the hardware and android version are diff.

True due to a smaller file size, streaming should be better. I just pointed out the weirdness that the old less demanding h.264 format would play poorly than the newer more processor-intensive h.265 format.
Interesting, typically one would assume either the box or network connection.. But the AVR, that's a surprise. Goes on to show that compatibility between connected hardware is key. To achieve best results, everything needs to be up to par..

As for the last bit, you might want to hold your horses there. Is yours the one with just 1GB RAM, 8GB ROM, single band WiFi and no Bluetooth? There are 4K boxes and there are 4K boxes. Just cuz software decoding and down-mixing is a thing does not mean all is well. Hate to burst your bubble but something is indeed wrong with cheapo boxes. Take your MXQ Pro 4K for example, you see that S905W processor contained within? Well, it is physically incapable of supporting 4K@60fps (limited to 4K30fps), HDR10, Dolby Vision, VP9,  limited to HDMI 2.0 instead of HDMI 2.0a (minimum requirement for HDR), then there's better firmware & OTA updates, build quality, heat sinks, WiFi/Bluetooth, integrated remote, faster and higher quality RAM & eMMC memory, all of which can be found in a more expensive device. So before you rush off to get an AVR with Dolby Atmos & DTS-X, just be sure your device can passthrough such, cuz AFAIK, it won't. To take advantage of all the stuff It's lacking especially real/pseudo HDR in those files, you will have to get a different box.
