Bros need your advice. Currently using Netflix in my Samsung smart TV..can get 5.1 sound system perfectly.. planned to buy android box. My question is only those boxes stated can support DTS or 5.1 sound sytem (Like Himedia or Meenix) can give 5.1 sound sytem for any movie from any apps or any box from the market can do..as long as i have 5.1 surround system at home and the movie file is coded for 5.1 sound system...
*
Are you decoding using an AVR? i think most boxes can do DD5.1, DTS not so common, but i think it's not hard to find one with DD5.1/DTS. If DD True HD/ DTS-MA/ DD Atmos, then those are rare.

I would suggest Mi Box S, probably the best Android TV box (note Android TV is not typical Android box, it has a much better UI and own appstore). I think it can do both DD and DTS.

Now my tv connected to Samsung Bluray player(its AVR too rite?) which has 5.1 ch speakers..

Mi Box S function same as other boxes? comes with preloaded apps to watch all the movies? i need to use MyIPTV also
*
I see. Does your Samsung BD player has a HDMI-IN or Optical-In? If not, it can't be used.

Based your description, probably a standard Android box will be better for you in this case. You still can use an Android TV, but will need to sideload the apps (meaning download from sites like apkpure and install via USB), as those apps not officially available from Android TV Store.

If you found any good airmouse, let us know.

The air mouse are typically like shits :-

1) They drink battery like drinking water.

2) Constantly have to toggle between remote/IR mode vs usb-dongle (airmouse) mode. And then make to toggle between mouse mode vs non-mouse mode.

I doubt people understand all those things.

Yes, IR remote has to transmit IR vendor ID over which matches the box to be controlled. Without "learning", it is tight to a particular box. I am not sure if the minix remote can learn new IR code or not.
*
I think airmouse are pretty serviceable. I have owned 2 models. Can't remember model name, battery consumption is ok for one (using 2 x AA batteries), another one is slim rechargeable, yes, use up battery quite fast. The toggle thingy is just a matter of getting familiar to it.

But honestly, Logitech K400 plus wireless keyboard/touchpad is king. Just get this if got budget. Only problem it doesn't have IR to turn on/off your box.

Hey guys, my TV at home is not a SmartTV.
If I just wanted a TV box to watch Netflix in 1080p, stable and good response on the remote, what would be the best recommendation?

Alternatively, if I wanted to stop my Astro, I would need live sports, news and cartoons channels. Any box providing these?

Sorry really new to TV boxes and there are so many options out there
*
There is very few boxes can do Netflix at 1080p/4K.

Mosy of them are like Roku, Amazon FireTV etc. The only cheap box i can think of which can play Netflix UHD and HD is Mi Box S. The other China brands mostly play SD and a few maybe can do 720p only.

So your choice are really limited. So no need to think hard. Unless you want to spend Rm1k for an Nvidia Shield (in which case, its better build a HTPC for that price..).

Hello Brothers, good day..

i am new to this android box stuff, i did analysis i kinda pening seeing lots of adroid box from rm100 to rm1000... some with 64gb, 4g ram, and extra..
Some saying need to use VPN, when does it required ?

My main concern, streaming 4K HDR UHD DOLBY supported android box since i have 4K HDR Dolby audio supported TV.
Im bored with ASTRO monthly paying high for nothing, and planning to have android box.
My TV already preloaded with some movie apps, such as NETFLIX, IFLIX, GOOGLEPLAYMOVIES, and extra.
But too bad, TV not allowing me to download other movie apps even from the preloaded web browser.
Probably restricted to download any apps directly to TV.
I see most of  the apps in tv needed registration ?
Do i need the android box still ?
*
Actually you can install other Android apps.

1) First you go to Google playstore to download and install a SideLoader.

2) Then you change the settings on your TV to allow unknown source.

3) Download your apk files from sites like apkpure.com into a thumbdrive.

4) Install a file explorer like ES Explorer or some other file managers from Android TV Appstore.

5) Run ES EXplorer. Stick your thumbdrive into the TV. It should appear, now you can install the apk and the apps will be available from your Sideloader app.

Above thks to bro AVFAN. notworthy.gif

==Update===
I forgot what TV you have...is it Android TV? The above only applicable for Android TV.....my mistake here.

But i do not see tht setting anywhere for NU8000 samsung smart tv.

This is not an Android TV, it is using its own propriatery Samsung OS, hence you cant install Android apps.

I see those preinstalled apps in smart tv offering movies all need to subscribe monthly or yearly to watch movies.. some tv series seems free. If get android box would be having same restrictions right unless get apps that offering free movies.

Already have netflix in tv, premium UHD contain monthly rm51 ringgit.. but any restrictions or can stream smoothly for 100mbps unifi connection ? Or telco blocking any contains even pay for netflix ?
*
100Mbps is more than enough. Netflix 4K is only about 25Mbps max. Telco won't block Netflix.

Bro.. just had my 100mbps unifi and subscribed for netflix which is free for 1st month..
But i see not so outstanding collection.. even i tried to search some old movies not able to find.. example LOTR,HOBBITS cannot be found
I thought it works better than free apps i used to watch movies where hell of collection old movies example popcorn..
But NETFLIX... is it different country has different collection and restrictions ?
I thought NETFLIX TV APP has issues, so downloaded app in my mobile and did searching yet same those movies cannot be found.

Another thing i tried to play UHD 4K movies but in my smart tv not full resolution, the screen not stretched even setting is 16:9
Most of the UHD 4K OR HDR movies not full stretched..
I even called NETFLIX support service, they claimed it depends on title and not all movies will.play full screen is that true ?
Checked the profile setting in mobile app anything related to the quality, since in TV NETFLIX no much settings. Just basic.
So in mobile app, checked the profile and changed from auto to high quality but no difference.

Below are the example on HDR & ULTRA HD 4K, title saying so but i have no idea whether the movie playing HDR/UHD4K. Puzzle

LOTR is available in US if i am not wrong. You need to use a VPN or DNS service to use. I am using KeepSolid VPN.

Not quite sure what you meant by "not full stretched". I assume you mean your horizontal video have black bars at the side??? Black bar on top and bottom is normal.

I've been quite curious. I plan to build a tvbox by assembling my own using AMD mobo and processor. Installing the android OS on it. I've no idea how compatible between AMD and android but as for Intel processors, it should work fine.
Why i plan to use a cpu over a made out of factory tv box because these stuffs break down easily.
Compared to Intel why i wanted AMD ? I'm sure given such scenarios, android are not resource hogging stuffs. AMD could easily stand up to the performance.
I've tried to research on TVbox build on AMD but not getting any results. Anyone can point me one ? Thx.
*
But....WHHHYYYYY?????

If me, i would just build a Windows HTPC. Been there, done that. It's way more flexible than Android. make sure the GPU can output all the various DD True HD, DTS-MA, etc etc whatever you need. You don't need a high-end GPU for it.

Exactly hobby.
Not into windows because windows will ate a chunk of resources off easily.  I prefer Android because it's light on resources and there's a whole lotsa stuff you can do with android that's free on playstore.
Actually i worried about GPU and if android able to work well with soundcards.....
*
Erm..if you have 4GB RAM, Windows 10 works fine. Add an SSD and it will be speed demon just like mine. You also can run an Android emulator on it.

If you're looking to build Android OS with AMD/Intel Hardware....i can say you are really looking at a very difficult project...Btw,i think you can forget about soundcards, you don't really need it nowadays. And i doubt you can find any Android drivers that works with Discrete soundcards.
