I’ve read and it seems to recommend himedia q5 or q10 / minis boxes but then a few pages back someone mentioned these hi end boxes are already a bit outdated. So do you have any recommendations ?

To be honest, TV boxes are difficult for elderly people if they are not good with technology. My parents are not well-verse with IT stuff and it is really difficult for them to learn and use. That's why I stick to Astro at home while I use Android box at my own place.

If you intend to find a box which works like Astro, turn on and can straight select channels via remote, there's none. All Android boxes require one to navigate from apps to apps and select from there.

What content do you want your folks to watch? Netflix hd? myiptv 4k similar to astXX, youtube that'll help?

My neighbor folks uses below, paired with myiptv 4k (per annum subs is abt $270), has youtube but don't watch netflix hd although the box is capable

Below is among the top 5 android os tv boxes, but at much cheaper than xiomi mi box

Thanks for your helpful suggestions. Settled for a Infinite box on a whim. There's a learning curve, hopefully it gets easier over time. I have yet to attempt to install Netflix on the TV box, let them familiarize with basic functions like the live channels, etc first.
