Anyone tried H96 Max?

Seems like good priced box with a good proc, S905X3. but the thing is how is the support for this kind of boxes?

Future support and their OS
*
I bought the X96 MAX+ , simply for the 1000M port that comes with it. X96 Max+ is a subscription based tvbox if you want to have live TV Channels. But otherwise, playing downloaded movies (range from 2160p onwards) from a home server is much easier and efficient becoz of the gigabit LAN port.

For Live TV channels especially from CN/HK/MY, i still have to use the UBTV from Ubox pro2. But too bad UBTV seems to be a proprietary app that only works in Ubox?

For CN/HK/MY tv channels, are there any free apps that anyone can recommend ?

Tks all.

better pay to Astro if you prefer non-stop , non-disruptive, jamin no-gangku type of streaming sport channel.... When a famous team matches on Live and everyone start to 'stream', even the paid box would have lousy streaming experience - u almost want to throw that box out of the door.. doh.gif

I'll be testing it out over time...milking em for all it's got.. My full in-depth review will follow after I've spent some quality time.. Expect that. For now, let me know stuff you want tried out on it.. I'll endeavour to answer all questions and or concerns regarding it.  sweat.gif

Hi All,
for my home setup using NAS but having problems. I use Zidoo Z9S.
1. Using Kodi, keep hanging when loading posters (with soure added).
2. While playing, video not smooth, i.e. sangkut. Same case when using VLC or Kodi  native player.
Same case for wireless and wired connection.

Any recommendation, better apps perhaps?
*
what format/type of files are you trying to play? Your Zidoo Z9s has got a gigabyte LAN port, it should play most formats comfortably using wired connection.

MKV mostly.

before this on wifi...recently changed using cat5e...+ latest maxis fiber standard router (standing type) to both NAS and Zidoo, still got problem.
I dont think my NAS supprt gigabit. its the not-so-young WD sharecenter

do we need gigabit for 4k playback?

Will try to check codec, or diff apps etc. Not sure how to change the native player for Kodi though.

Would like to use Kodi or native Zidoo software if possible due to poster thingy features.
*
4K movie, most likely yes you need a Gb port. I was having that issue before but mainly because the previous media box doesn't have a Gb port, so even 1080p mkv will lag terribly. Now i bought another box with Gb port, so NAS (Gb port) to Maxis router to TV box (Gb port), kodi 4k movie is ok already.

So I ran some tests and on my Windows 10 PC (gigabit wired client & server) I'm able to get a top transfer speed of 66.8MB/s..on average it was around 5xMB/s... My ancient-gen Macbook Air (running MacOS 11 Big Sur) faired better and over 5G Wi-Fi.. Promted me to make a video about it too.. So those interested? Enjoy! Remember that many devices support CoreELEC, including cheap Android boxes. So yes, you can mirror my setup as I've shown...as a cheap DIY NAS solution.  icon_idea.gif

i wonder if it is possible to port over my 2 drives from Freenas system to this CoreELEC directly? My 9 yo HP N40L looks too bulky now.. biggrin.gif

Dont simply listen to people who knows nothing

Ive owned 2 Longtv and iboute x boxes - despite court cases still been running for 4 years now. U just buy them , connect to internet and tv and off you go

Dont have to deal with all those installation issues as some of the apps proprietary and these MAC addresses are already registered into the VOD servers

U dont have to deal with the buffering of these apps that u installed free on these boxes. in the end these apps are just no different than torrent players out there ...

If youre into movies and dramas just go for these SVI Boxes, Long Tv , and etc VOD servers boxes as I can at least guarantee u dont have to come to lowyat to check out installation and running issues.

Some of these VOD boxes have custiomer service locally like Long Tv ..so u can straight away ask for help
Internet just let it run more than 100MBps and u have no problem running IPTV content.

Really the money u pay for these vod boxes outweight the time u require to figure out all those installation
*
Tks for sharing, good to know. in fact longtv is the box installed in one of the self-service hotel in Penang in all their rooms, that's the first time i get to know LongTV.

Hi all,
Anyone knows which vdo player is capable of playing 4K HDR movie mp4 files? Kodi doesn't, it only can play it correctly in a laptop/pc. Any suggestion ?
Tks

I haven't tried Nova and Plex, the rest are not able to bring out the true color of the HDR file in the tvbox.... But if I play the file in my laptop, it displays brilliant colour..

Tks anyway.

Kodi on Android tv box still unable to handle 4k or 2160 HDR, u get a wash-out, yellowish coloration...

If you play a HDR content using an Android box that can handle HDR but a monitor/TV that cannot, you get washed out video. To fix this, Kodi has enable tone-mapping feature with 4 settings. However, it seems that only Kodi on Windows and NVidia Shield can enable this feature due to the GPU involved.
*
yeah, Kodi on Windows will play the HDR file correctly. My Sony TV has HDR10 compatibility and I'm using TVBox with Android 9,(S905X3) which supposed to support Support H.265, 8K, 4K, HDR+. Do you see any area that is causing the issue ?

Thanks for your feedback, appreciated thumbsup.gif  Yes, the TV does supports HDR, so KM2 with KODI no issues correct?
*
I don't believe KODI (original installed) on Android box supports HDR , you need to do something else to get it supported. Otherwise, Kodi alone will just get you a washed-out picture on the screen even if you TV supports HDR. I stand corrected.

You can try TOX1. It matches all your requirement. I'm using it. Only thing is it is running on Android 9 but the manufacturer still giving updates on the firmware, the last one being in Nov 2021
*
do they push the update into the box directly? Thanks. Rare find (one that has gigabit port).
