I notice from some seller like gearbest mention Beelink GT1 (android 7) cannot run miracast for iOS 9.0 and above.

I bought from here, now on the way to Malaysia.

https://www.gearbest.com/tv-box/pp_687066.html?wid=21

Convert to RM about $300+ only
*
How about warranty wise? Able to get warranty from Malaysia?

If it does not work we have to shipped back to China ?

I know the shipment to Malaysia fairly cheap. However going from Malaysia to China is very expensive.

Anyone selling locally with warranty?

How about other unit like Beelink GT1 ultimate or TZ95 which seem popular?

With gearbest the shipping is usually free
I think they have a return policy and also reimburse your shipping fee if item defect on arrival
There's sfexpress & flexipack around rm50
*
If the device is RM350, paying RM50 for sending back to repair after 7 days is like paying ~15% of device price.
There is only a free shipping reimbursement for first 7 days if it does not work. After that, no reimbursement fee.

After 7 days to until 45 days, you will have to pay eg RM50 to send back for refund or item exchange.
So mostly I guess you all take the chances?
How often if a unit breaks down?

It is almost the same if the price of the unit is selling RM100 more (eg. RM450) locally here with 3 months warranty on 1-1 exchange (some seller provide).
You will fork out RM100 for the warranty of another 45 days.

7 Day Dead on Arrival (DOA) Guarantee

If your item arrives damaged or is not working, please follow the warranty process and contact our Support Center for RMA authorization within 7 days of the order being received. After returning the product to us, we can send you a new item free of charge (we will reimburse you the return shipping cost), or you can choose to receive a full refund. Enjoy total peace of mind: every single purchase is 100% risk-free each time you shop at GearBest.
Special Notes:
1. Customers must first send a clear photo or video of the damaged or defective product and the shipping packaging before we can consider issuing RMA authorization. Please use good lighting, and a close to medium distance, so we can identify and verify the issue(s). Attachment size must be under 2MB for the Support Center, please send larger attachments to: support@gearbest.com.
2. After GearBest has received the returned product and confirmed the product is faulty, the return shipping cost will be refunded based on a valid return receipt. For example if the return shipping fee is 30 USD, GearBest will refund the same amount of 30 USD to the customer. If our technical team determines the item is not DOA , GearBest will not compensate the return shipping fee. Refund requests for a return shipping fee without a valid RMA return receipt slip will not be accepted.
3. Product returns must be via one of GearBest's approved shipping methods; our Support Center can provide you with further details.

45 Day Money Back Guarantee
For most items, in the unlikely situation that your product is faulty, you can send it back to us for a refund or item exchange within 45 days of receiving it. Return shipping reimbursement is not available for this.

One Year Repair Warranty
Unless otherwise noted on the product page, the default product warranty period is one year starting from the date you receive the goods, during which you are eligible for free repair. Any free repair needs to be confirmed with the manufacturer via Customer Service. Customers must pay the shipping fees for returning the item to GearBest , while we will cover the shipping fees to send the repaired item back to the customer. If the buyer has damaged/misused the item(s), it will not be eligible for free repair, however customers can return it to us at their own cost and pay a fee for the repair. Return shipping fees will be the customers responsibility in such cases.

Hi,

I am confuse now. I just need some help on your recommendation.

I only have simple requirement for the box:

1) able to install and run AOTG (understand mostly work on non-rooted box)
2) support airplay for iOS 9.0 and above, miracast
3) support OTA - over the air update
4) support 802.11ac
5) prefer decent processor for performance eg. S912 or
6) more RAM better, 3GB is great
7) storage not so much, 16GB more than enough
(only use it for streaming live tv, movies, youtube only).

Item (1) is not a simple requirement, as many tvboxes cannot meet.

I suspect the AOTG checks for two things :-

1. Root.
2. File/storage encryption.

So some unrooted boxes won't run either.

People saying Minix Neo can run some older version of AOTG. New AOTG seems unable to run due to browser limitation.

And also TM Unifi IPTV Box (Huawei EC6108V8) on the older firmware can run AOTG. However, the box seems to automatically update itself to newer firmware.

All the above is based on my guesss, as I have none of these boxes to verify.

Good luck and let us know if you got any progress.
*
For item 1), so far from my research from forum, Mi Box International - 4K (not sure which version) able to run AOTG. It is non-root.
However it seem not supporting item 2) "support airplay for iOS 9.0 and above, miracast". It does support Chromecast if not mistaken.

Yes you are right, any root box is not able to run AOTG as many mentioned.

Minix Neo U9 is far too high to reach > RM650++

Mine is S912 3gb/32gb.
Funny for me, non rooted itself cant run AOTG, but rooted with magisk to hide root only can run.

Magisk to hide root, i  starting from ver. 13.x and now running 14.3.

Which H96 Pro Plus brand that you are using?
Some come with AlfaWise and other name.

Where did you brought one?
Gearbest, Lazada, ??

Thank you for sharing. Greatly appreciated.

I wont agree magisk is effectively hiding root.
I COULD ONLY GUESS If you original firmware is non- rooted then magisk could help hide.

Else if original boot already rooted and flashing magisk here does not help at alll.
*
If I am not mistaken, the unit sold by Gearbest is pre-rooted.
What does this mean?
Could we just install Magisk v 14.0 ?

Some seller who are selling locally already root the unit.
Do we have to restore to original android 6 first before install Magisk ?

I am very new to the tv boxes, the term around and how to perform those installation.

I think it was mentioned that he actual overwritten the original rom and installed a new Rom from freaktab. That process will remove previous root.

The only thing need to make sure you match the model exactly or else the differences can cause havoc.
*
Yes brother, that's the reason I was asking which model and brand of the H96 Pro Plus unit.

There are many sub brand out there with H96 Pro Plus.

Also need to know where the unit was brought from?

Thank you.

Yep, most flashing done right are safe. But as you say, every flash also had the potential to brick the device. nod.gif
Guy, that's 9 boxes.. Surely you can narrow it down some more based on feedback and your requirements.. Reduce options to 3 or 4, then we talk. Use search feature. Speaking of requirements, what are yours? In addition.
*
After narrow my idea, I just need decent player

1) Stable ROM
2) Use it for normal tv streaming, online movie, youtube (not playing games)
3) Budget RM250 - RM300.

Xiaomi International Version
MeeCool MS8 Pro Plus
Tanix TX8 Max
Any other recommendation.

Minix Neo U1, seems to out of reach > RM400.

Thanks.

Minus the absence of ethernet cable, the MiBox does tick all your boxes and supports 4K 60fps + HDR.. A dual-band router and the MiBox connected to the 5Ghz band in the same room should perform okay for simple streams.. NOT 4K Kodi streaming.
*
My stupid time internet is still using the old linksys wifi router which do not support 802.11ac. that's the downside of it.

wish mi box could have come with USB 3.0 port instead. it's still using the old 2.0 port. plus no LAN port. that's the downside of it.

My wifi router is in the same area of my tv cabinet. LAN cable will be more consistent and stable.

cracking my head... hmm.gif hmm.gif

True, connecting via ethernet cable is ideal, though you can always upgrade to a better router. Stock routers are chosen for simplicity and costs.. Not high performance. Investing in a better router will serve you for years to come.

For today's media needs USB2.0 transfer speeds is more than enough. Unless you plan on copying huge GB files back and forth between the device and external hard drive, it's negligible.

Cheap no good, good no cheap.
*
Yes, as of current I will invest a good usb to rj45 10/100MB for connecting my router to mi box which I already order on black friday sales.

I dont plan to use it for huge GB files anyway. Mostly watching live tv, movie, youtube.

The current router is aging, will plan change it as well.
