Late in joining the tv box experience and just got a Mi Box S for my parents not long ago. In summary, pretty laggy and wifi connection is pretty moderate.

But this first box has made me interested in getting 1 for myself, may not be Xiaomi. That's why I'd like the feedback from the community here.

I've friends telling me about EVPAD. And I've had friends who tell me about MiniX.

EVPAD 3 max vs MiniX u9-h - what's the difference? and, which is better?

My primary use will be own movies and apps such as iflix, netflix, also probably in future; Hao / myiptv (I don't really watch much tv tongue.gif)

Welcome... Minix Neo U9-H > EVPAD 3 Max. Evpad's are primarily sold for their "in-house" ehem iptv services.. So if that's your primary concern? You won't go wrong with that. Performance and other features-wise? The Minix will fare better. Since you are interested in playing your own content and not IPTV, it's a fairly obvious choice. Especially when, the Minix also fares well in that department, except you have to hunt down and install your own IPTV app la, cuz Minix always ship as stock Android as possible.. But at least, it won't disappoint as the EVPAD will or MiBox has.. The Neo U9-H is speedy and known as onf of the better boxes with excellent WiFi. No Netflix HD+ on either boxes though.. Max res will be 540p. iflix, Astro go, Unifi TV, etc, all work fine on the Neo U9-H.

The MiBox's strongest feature is being 100% Google & Netflix certified. Also, you might want to invest in a USB to Ethernet adapter and use wired connection instead. Should improve network speeds. Already bought, so might as well max it.

I just found out that Minix owners do have a slight debate with the brand over how they're not focused on upgrading the Android version at the moment - they're at v7.1 only. And from further reading, seems like the brand are focused on their next model release (X39) for now - but doesn't seem to be in the market yet. Guess why I'm concerned about this is that I know U9-H has been in the market awhile and hearing that the brand isn't doing much to support older owners, that makes me lose confidence.

What would an alternative box I should consider instead?

Thanks in advance for sharing your time.

i bought 2 units...so far no such issue

Besides Netflix and Kodi, do you have anything else in the box?

I'm guessing mine may not be as snappy as your units since it came with a few other things.

Two words..

"Factory Reset".. nod.gif

I'd do that as a last resort since there are some apps I'm using.

However, if I know this is something I've to live with, then I guess I might've gotten the wrong box. mega_shok.gif

Last resort for some.. Me? It's one of the first actions I take, right after checking for the latest firmware and updating. But I understand, not all can or prefer to build from scratch. Technically, all third-party apps can be re-installed. Just need to source em and do the work. But if you feel no need and can tahan? Then yup, no choice.. Gotta live with it. Next device? Try getting one that ships as close to stock Android as possible.. It's usually a lot cleaner to run. Then you build up, so when something breaks, you know the last things you did and can roll back.

Like where you're coming from with this.. will consider this thought process for my own unit soon thumbsup.gif

So,  what I have at the moment after a recent firmware update on my X92..
1. Cinema HD & Cinema HD v2 (some ppl use Cyberflix TV, which is the same/clone? of Terrarium TV)
2. TeaTV
3. KDrama (only korean drama and movies, with subtitles)
4. iFlix
5. HBO Go Malaysia
6. Astro Go v1.1 Beta (new interface, currently can login and run on rooted boxes)
7. XX1 Lite (available free on PlayStore) - got movies, series, anime..

Seldom use, or no longer working..
- Terrarium TV (no longer working)
- Morpheus TV (now it's Morph TV)
- TVZion
- FreeFlixHQ

All of the above are installed in your Mi Box S ? Because if they are and it's still snappy, that would mean mine's limited somewhere somehow. Cause I've near similar apps - but I removed some already, and it helped make the box less laggy now.
