Thanks for the reply.
I know that i should get an android box with at least android 5.1, 2/16GB. Is there any other feature i should look for to get the most out of my sound bar.. things like 5.1 passthrough ?! is OTA update also important?
*
Actually with RM 450 budget, it's possible to get a Minix Neo U1 also..

This is selling for RM 440 with 1 year warranty..

Couple that with bank discount (5% - 15%), shopback (1.5% web or 3% on app) and if your credit card gives cash back, you could get it as low as RM 364.32 (Buy via Lazada App via Shopback referral, and use CIMB Cash Rebate Mastercard on a Monday)

Hai, i have tried the hypptv app on u9 couple month ago and its works just fine, but only on wifi. Ethernet only able to stream Luxe HD and RTM channel iirc, not  sure why.

Ahhh no wonder. Mine was connected via Ethernet. Let me try with WiFi. Thanks for the heads up! smile.gif

Not sure about the U9, but on my U1, under Ethernet settings, there's an option to fake wifi status. It's to trick the OS and apps to think it's connected to wifi instead of mobile data (which is how it's considered when it's connected to LAN)

Yeah! it works! once i switch to wifi, all channel can be viewed, thanks for the info!
U9 did have the option, i did try turning it on. but HyppTV still doesnt work.
it only work under below scenario:
turn on wifi, click fake wifi, hypptv works, restart device, (fake mode still on) hypptv doesnt work.
basically, we need to manually on wifi device, and it didnt work after each reboot.

do you experience the same thing?
*
Yep, it goes nuts after resuming from standby/reboot.. Need to manually change it everytime..

QUOTE(voncrane @ Aug 14 2017, 12:34 PM)
Not working after a reboot could be a firmware bug (in which case, you should raise it to the Minix team) or simply the Hypptv's app being silly as it's known to be. My money is on the latter. biggrin.gif
*
I did raise it in the minix forum before, but didn't get any response, which could mean it didn't bother other ppl.. lol..

Item (1) is not a simple requirement, as many tvboxes cannot meet.

I suspect the AOTG checks for two things :-

1. Root.
2. File/storage encryption.

So some unrooted boxes won't run either.

People saying Minix Neo can run some older version of AOTG. New AOTG seems unable to run due to browser limitation.

And also TM Unifi IPTV Box (Huawei EC6108V8) on the older firmware can run AOTG. However, the box seems to automatically update itself to newer firmware.

All the above is based on my guesss, as I have none of these boxes to verify.

Good luck and let us know if you got any progress.

I'm using Minix Neo U1. No issues with latest AOTG version.

Could you do me a favour ? Could you confirmed under some where of the Settings, if the device/phone encryption or storage encryption is turned on ? Suspect AOTG checks for it and refuse to run if disk is not encrypted.
*
Only got one option under Encryption which is "Encrypt U1". Thus I think encryption is off.

Hi,

Your box is still running android 5.1?

Is it rooted?

Which version of firmware it's running?

Thank you.
*
Yes, on Android 5.1.1

Non rooted. As per original settings.

On latest firmware which is LMY47V.20170629 released keys (as shown in the System Update OTA app) or Build Number U1 FW013 20170629 in Google Settings.

Just in case you guys wanna know, my AOTG is version 8.1.75. no updates available in Google play.

Anyone here used a MX3 air mouse before ?

Thinking of getting one. As the RII mini keyboards are not able to fully power off the TV and tv box, whereas the MX3 air mouse has IR learning capability and thus is able to power off/on both the TV and the tv box.
*
I'm using one.. like you, I love the IR function to power off TV..

but here are some quirks that i faced using the MX3:
1. occasionally, the QWERTY keyboard goes haywire.. what you type on the keyboard isn't what is sent/received at the box..
2. cannot completely disable the air mouse function.. you can disable it temporarily using the button, but after a while, the mouse is re-enabled when you move the remote.. this is annoying especially if you're using kodi, where mouse moves will activate the on screen controls..

Hi all,

Need some recommendation on a replacement for my Minix U1 that died on me recently (and also to replace the Neo T5 that I had to return)..

I only use my box to run Kodi / Plex to stream videos from my NAS, AOTG, HBO GO and YouTube / YouTube Kids..

What I loved about the U1 was the stability and simple set up.. Box was unrooted, so I could install/update the apps I needed from Play Store and everything just works.. It was the opposite from the Neo T5, which was running ATV.. And with how the most recent AOTG stutters on the ATV, I'm trying to avoid it now..

From the various threads I've read in the forum, it seems like the Tanix TX3 should be sufficient to meet my needs, but AOTG still needs to be sideloaded. While I'm still able to do this, I'm just wondering if there are other options that can give me the same experience as the U1, within a budget of about RM 500? The Minix U9-H is no longer listed on Minix website, so not sure about the support on that.
