Looking to enable one of my older non smart 1080p TV to have YouTube streaming and able to play h264 and h265 files. Any best bang for the bucks recommendations perhaps?

Currently, is Nvidia Shield the only one supporting lossless audio codec (TrueHD, DTS-HD MA etc)?

I'm looking to stream via my Plex server to an AVR. Alternatively I'm considering Zidoo Z9X (RM799) but this is via SMB instead.

You found any other alternative player or device?
Nvidia Shield don't support Dolby Vision.

Today in the market, most support Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos example Firestick 4K max, Xiaomi TV S Gen2, Apple TV; a big but here -  don't support TrueHD Atmos or DTS-HD.
Ofcoz if you have have a brand new smart TV coming with eARC, mostly like it will work OOTB. My existing android TV don't have eARC, so no TrueHD Atmps...sad.

I ended with Z9X whenever I need to run the lossless audio codec (TrueHD/DTS:X).

My TV doesn't support lossless audio codec, when I playback them on TV, it will eARC out to "Stereo" 2 channel only. DD and DDP no issue.

Maybe it is TV firmware issue?
Why need to switch between TV and Z9X ? Can you just stay on Z9X which is suppose to be better device?

If I don't use external speakers, I don't turn on Z9X nor AVR. Stick to TV only.

I only turn on Zidoo if I'm using external speakers.
