Hi guys! Need some recommendations on tv box which plays HD (or 4k if that is possible) movies/series/sports smoothly.
Support for Dolby surround sound/etc is an added plus too!

Also with English UI please, since i'm a banana lol

Thanks, leaning towards Minix Neo U9. Is an Air Mouse necessary if you won’t be playing games? Mainly watching videos only.

From my experience, the airmouse is absolutely necessary, because it simulates touching the screen and for sure, you'll run into media apps that requires screen taps and scrolling. Of course, if you already have a normal usb keyboard and mouse, and don't mind using them for the box, then you can save some money by not buying the airmouse or similar media remotes. Since you are considering the Neo U9-H, as a longterm owner of the Neo A2 Lite Airmouse, I strongly recommend that you get the bundle package that ships with the Minix Neo A3 Airmouse. It makes usage so much easier.
Alright then, pm me and we'll discuss.. I'm home and can spare a couple minutes.

Thanks! And my friend told me you can get all Astro channels for only around rm300 per year with Kodi? Is there a specific subscription link for that?

Lol for the UI and Apple ecosystem some don’t mind?
My Neo U9 UI is quite ugly, but at least functional I guess.

I need 4K HDR and Dolby Vision in future but I no need DTS. I am very important in visual things but not in sound. Sound never is my concern. As long as it is clear especially the dialog and not high pitch with some base from TV speaker is enough to me. TV speaker sound did not very bad actually in TV this days.

Seriously soundbar makes a big difference compared to TV speakers. I wouldn’t spend more than 3-4k on a soundbar, I’d get a proper system for that. But for around 1-2K you can get a really decent sounding ones.
And once you dive into proper sound system, audio will be just as important as visual for movies.

But I find it funny that you place high importance in visual when most media streaming even Netflix is compressed. They look decent but still no where close to Blu-ray quality.

Frank speak it is not that big different those compress digital format by  Netflix and Apple vs blu-ray because I re-buy for some where I already have Blu-ray. You can check review also where the differences is very minimum.

I watch them back to back with original blu ray and media streaming and I do notice obvious differences. But if you don’t notice any differences then it’s all good then since you get to save a lot.

So far I only know 4 TV Box support 4K in Netflix.

- Nvidia Shield 2017 (HDR10)
- Apple TV 4K (HDR10 and Dolby Vision)
- Mi Box (HDR not working)
- Amazon Fire TV 4K (HDR10)

Depending on what 4K TV you have, most Sony and LG 4k TVs have built in Netflix app that supports 4k Netflix.
Or UHD Blu Ray players like Sony X700 also supports 4k Netflix.
So not necessary to get a separate TV box just for 4k Netflix.
But for your iTunes then no choice but Apple TV is the only way tongue.gif

Your TV support HDR10 standard and also nobody use yet HLG standard which design for broadcasting.

All TV support HDR will have minimum support of HDR10 standard.

Another HDR standard is Dolby Vision but mainly only LG high-end TV support it and also some Sony high-end model. As for content currently only some Netflix show, some Movies iTunes and also some 4K Blu-ray title support it. But no worried on this because all Dolby Vision title will play under HDR10 if detect no Dolby Vision device. Not much manufacture provide Dolby Vision standard even though it is the best looking HDR standard because it is not like HDR10 which is royalty free.

They is another new standard call HDR10+ which only announcement in year 2017 and some not yet release TV is support it but not in market selling yet. It is enhancement from HDR10 by adding in dynamic metadata to better produce brightness frame by frame or scenes by scenes, this enhancement release is to compete similar method did by Dolby Vision.

Actually most Sony 4K TVs even the lower end ones support Dolby Vision, Sony released the firmware update a few months ago for that support biggrin.gif
